See Coco. It's fantastic (And I'm one of the guys who thought it was going to be a rip-off of Book of Life). Also see Cars 3 (or at least the first twenty minutes and the last twenty minutes. It's on Netflix). Great, great final race/ending. :)

I actually waited for Netflix and finally saw Cars 3 a couple of weeks ago, and it surprised the heck out of me with how good it was. It's exactly the film Cars 2 should've been.

Good to know. That’s what Cars 1 was for me. So many people had down talked that film but I found it surprisingly good when I saw it for the first time 2 years ago. Still haven’t seen Cars 2 or 3 despite owning them.

Just for future reference, you can skip Cars 2 completely and go right to Cars 3, as it pretty much continues from the first film as if Cars 2 never happened. :D Save Cars 2 for when you're thinking, "Y'know what I'm in the mood for? Two solid hours of Mater being a spy." :D

Lol yikes. Sounds terrible. Sounds like something that should have been straight to film.

I shudder to imagine the life situation I'd have to be in to cause this thought to actually popped into my head.

Its just personal preferences, but there are a lot of people that like Mater. Especially since Mater was voiced by Larry the Cable Guy. He is hugely popular in the flyover states and deep south.

So I think of Cars 2 as a fan film just for those fans.

Absolutely. And, honestly, even though I rank Cars 2 low on my list, it does have many good points. If you're going to make a spy film starring Mater, this is about as imaginative and clever as they could possibly go with that concept. And everything that happens at Buckingham Palace cracks me up.

I think Cars 2 was intended as a feature film version of the then-super-popular Mater's Tall Tales shorts, and as such, it's solid. And it's a GREAT kids' film. But, seriously, it's TWO SOLID HOURS of Mater, and I don't think that's what most people wanted from a Cars sequel. But it's not a bad film.
