Pandora - The World of Avatar opening day reports

For anyone who went yesterday did you actually try standing in line for one of these 250 minute waits and if so was it actually that long or is it being exaggerated?

Not exaggerated, unfortunately. Yesterday the wait time for the river journey was posted at 195 minutes; we ended up waiting a little over three and a half hours. Suffice it to say, we made a lot of friends in these queues! With flight of passage especially, we experienced several delays in starting the ride due to people not fitting in the seats. Once we were loaded in we waited almost five minutes before a couple were escorted out and the ride began.

Did anyone here eat at the Pandora restaurants yet?

Between the passholder previews and yesterday, we've tried a good portion of the menu. The bowls are an excellent, excellent value and quality for the price in a theme park. Especially compared to the rubber-in-disguise hamburgers you would normally find for the same price. The baos are interesting, but not as good as the bowls for a very similar price.

Our favorite combinations were the chicken with the potato hash and creamy herb dressing. As well as the sliced beef with the quinoa salad and chimicurri. The chimicurri went very well in the salad and with the beef.

The blueberry cheesecake was also an addictive dessert. The beers were only so-so for the price.

So one party gets in early yesterday makes it worse than EVERY guest getting in today (even non-resort guests) during EMH only?

Someone has anger issues.

I'm not sure what the deal was today- there wasn't supposed to be any morning EMH at all. I think they just decided to throw the gates open early in case there was a huge throng waiting.

I don't mean to sidetrack the thread, but this sentiment always puzzles me. My QS burger spot at WDW is Backlot Express and they're always quite good. Not as excellent as Big River but fair quality and quantity for the price. Where are people buying the rubber burgers I'm always reading about?

Thanks to everyone who went yesterday and posted their experiences and thanks to @wdwmagic for setting up the thread and providing updates. Based on the collective series of posts it sounds like a pretty successful opening day. The crowds and wait times were insane, but anyone going yesterday had to expect that...it's part of the experience. With a crowd that size it's good to hear mostly everyone was well behaved and there weren't any major incidents (that I heard of anyway). I will be glad to let the crowds die down and hopefully enjoy a leisurely stroll through the new land in November on my next trip. I am definitely jealous of those of you who got to experience this already. Maybe next time for me...in a galaxy far, far away:)

To be fair, I had one bad burger a few years ago and haven't gotten another at the parks since then. So they could very well be better now. It's just that a burger and fries for $13 or so just isn't worth it to me. I prefer things like these bowls or the harambe market for a similar price. For burgers, we go to places like Crews cup lounge.

Most fast food places are charging a little under that for a burger and fries, its the going rate right now, Disney isn't alone.

Here now, there was no wait to enter Pandora, just walked right in. Used our fast pass for NRJ and walked right on. Now in the 250 minute wait for FOP. Been in line for an hour so far and still in the cave area. The land itself is not overly crowded. Haven't checked out the food locations yet and I'll let you know if it's actually 250 min wait.

There were no morning EMH today. It was scheduled to open at 8, but I guess they let everyone in early.

There was no EMH this morning

As you can see, there weren't EMH's this morning. All I was saying is that trying to justify cheating the system by the means you have still doesn't justify it. It's cheating the system. Clearly you know you're wrong since you've decided you need to name call and throw insults.

Just to emphasize: There were no morning EMH this Sunday morning at DAK. The opening time was 8 AM. But rather than have the entrance clogged with a huge mass of humanity they let people in at 7 AM.

Tomorrow, Monday, is a morning EMH day for DAK.

And of course, evening EMH exists for DAK for the next month.

At 12:15 PM...

I waited over 3 hours for a ride last month. I have no plans to ever do that again!! But, we did become BFFs with a group of teens behind us.lol.. luckily that made the time go a little faster.

Thanks for the food info! I am very excited about the menus. Hopefully they will be successful and a few more restaurants may start offering tofu dishes.
