Pandora - The World of Avatar opening day reports

I was told that there was a new Tree of Life Awakenings tonight for Pandora, I don't know if the CM was referring to the stuff actually in the land and misspoke, or if there was a new show on the Tree of Life Awakenings lineup. Has anyone heard anything related to that?

Just upthread that the back of ToL was showing shows. Don't know if they are "new." One issue is that the ones on the back, if they use the same vignettes, don't have the same animals to 'awaken' to appear in the vignette. So, the backside vignettes would have to be altered in some way.

I thought there was talk of some sort of projections (not a proper show per se, but stuff that changes over time) on the mountains in Pandora itself. Perhaps that might be what was meant?

I think the only IP that will indeed beat Harry Potter’s opening is Star War’s. I personally know people who HATE Disney who will visit simply to see Star Wars once its complete.

I can easily see the line for “The Star War’s Experience” stretching into the parking lot/bus stops. With them running out of parking by 9 AM. The fandom for SW makes HP look mediocre.

I think it depends on what happens between now and then. Potter land opened at the very height of the Potter mania. I think the lines for a Star Wars land are going to depend on what the movies are like between now and then, how much hype is put behind it and what the plans are/revealed, and how popular the franchise is right then. I do think more people overall will want to see it, but I'm not sure if we will have as many crazies right at that moment who have to see it on the very first day.

Yeah my guess is it wasn't reliable enough as they had some trouble getting the bioluminescence working to begin with. Having thousands of people walk on something that reacts to your steps would be an issue.

Announced September 20, 2011, First date given for opening was 2016 and that was before official groundbreaking.

The laughable part is that the blueprints leaked in 2012, remained largely unchanged, and they didn't break ground for over a year after that.

Yep. Nay sayers will argue your points. Regardless it took forever to build 2 rides.

I wonder which had more press coverage, Pandora or Volcano Bay?

I live in Orlando. I would say about equal but the media here would dare say anything about disney. Volcano bay received some negative publicity about the park is too close to i4 and could cause accidents.

What were you expecting exactly? Also many have been saying pictures/video doesn't do the land justice.

Definitely a case of you have to see it in person. Far superior to any photograph or stream.

That is my point? Everyone has been talking about night time. I haven't seen anything beautiful. Plants that light up? What's fascinating about that?

I like it and think it looks great. I am just confused as to why this isn't what you were expecting. This is what bioluminescence is in Pandora.

It still shows rides outside Pandora open, did theu decide to keep them running for EMH? Or just glitch?

That was the plan for opening weekend. More rides open.

I also did EMH at Pandora just now. Took us about 50 minutes to get into Pandora from Africa and another 50 minutes to get on Flight of Passage which had a 90 minute posted wait. I did think Pandora is more beautiful during the daytime.

I'm not the best night photographer. I don't even have a tripod today. Don't judge Pandora at night solely by my pictures. It is 100x more impressive in person.
