After many setbacks and delays (this is disney were talking about) the park will open on the same date the movie hit the theaters in the US. December 18th 2017

The movie isn't opening on that date, sometime in 2018 at the earliest.

Ah, I thought you meant that was the sequel release date since that is around when it was originally planned to open.
Well I hope not. I'm hoping to see it in November
. Of course my desires have nothing to do with the outcome and you have a point on past history.
I'm changing my pick from 6/12 to 6/17. I originally picked 6/12 because it's my wife's birthday but I forgot it will be the 1 year anniversary of the horrific shooting at pulse nightclub. It would be pretty insensitive for Disney to plan a grand opening on that date.

Thu. 6/29/17 - Last Thursday before 4th of July "weekend". Many will get Mon. 7/3 off work, many will get 7/4 off, and some will take both. Kids are out of school. Could be a perfect storm for 4 or 5 day summer trips. Would be a big opportunity lost if this date was missed. 6/30 already taken.
It took over 25 guesses before we got our first optimist who picked a date in April
