Pam's Trip Report

ok, here goes. Day 1

We flew out of Newark at 10:30 am and hit a bit of turbulence on the way down. We had a wonderfully nutritious meal on our flight that consisted of a small bag of baby carrots, a small multi-grain roll about the size of a dinner roll with 1 slice of turkey and a lettuce leaf on it and a chocolate chip cookie. My friend Robin who has not been to WDW since the first year it opened asked me how my lunch was. I told her I was stuffed and that I was going to ask the stewardess for a doggy bag. Needless to say, I thought I had to do the hymlic(sp?) maneuver on her because she started choking from laughing.

We arrived around 1p.m. and Bob from YOURRIDE was there to meet us. He took us over to the POR and I checked in while mom showed Robin the gift shop. We went to our room, which was located in the Manor house side of the Resort. We were in room 9534 of the Parterre building. (An excellent location.) We were able to walk to the bus stop, food court etc. within 3-4 mins. Mitzer called and told me to call MKTiggerman.

We changed into shorts after the luggage arrived and headed to the food court for a small snack since we have the hoop de doo tonight. We took the bus over to the MK and from there we took the boat to Ft. Wilderness. After doing some browsing in the gift shop, we walked over to the petting zoo and the horse stable so Robin could check them out. Then we headed over to Crockett’s Tavern to meet up with the carriage that I booked for mom’s birthday. My mom was very surprised when the horse drawn carriage pulled up and we told her Happy Birthday. The carriage ride was very relaxing. When we arrived back at Crockett’s Tavern, we decided to have a drink. My friend Robin had a beer and I had a glass of wine. We sat outside on the porch in the rocking chairs until the horseflies started biting. So we went inside and we each had another drink.

After a short while, we headed into Pioneer Hall for the Hoop de doo. We sat on the upper balcony right in the center of it. We decided to have some Sangria to celebrate mom’s birthday. Robin raved about the fried chicken and had some fun with our waiter, whose name was Wayne. She tried to grab his name tag so that she could read it and he looked at me and said “ I didn’t know what she was grabbin”. This started us all laughing. When they did the Happy Birthday bit, one of the girls ( the one in yellow) came up to us and announced that it was mom’s birthday. We really had a good time there.

After the show we headed down to the bus stop. We took the bus to the next stop and had to change busses. We needed to cross the street so mom and I stayed to the right near the curb to cross while Robin decided to cross the center of the road. I guess she didn’t see the bus turning the corner and she almost got creamed. The bus driver never slowed down and Robin had to jump out of the way and landed in a huge puddle. We all started laughing so hard we literally had to try to compose ourselves in order to get on the bus. (Maybe if Robin didn’t tell us that she was going to ______ her pants, we wouldn’t have laughed so hard) ;-) (she didn’t in case you were wondering) The bus took us back to POR and we hit the hay.

to be continued.....

Day 2

OMG what a night! I had to deal with the dueling snorers! I had no idea that Robin snored so loudly!!! And then she would sigh in her sleep and it drove me nuts! My mother’s breathing makes her sound like a female version of Darth Vader. So needless to say, I didn’t get too much sleep.

We had our wake up call at 6:00 so that everyone could shower and get to our 7a.m. breakfast at Boatwrights. I had to make a call to the front desk because I had ordered a fruit and chocolate basket from the Disney Florist to be delivered on our first day and it had not arrived. I found out that they had it there and I had them deliver it while mom was showering. I had the seasonal fruit cup and oatmeal. (yes, I’m dieting at Disney) Robin had a big hearty breakfast of pancakes and sausage. (she squirted herself in the eye with the sausage juice when she cut into it…hehehe!) My mother had bacon and eggs. After breakfast we went back to the room to grab our water bottles and then we headed for the bus stop.

When we arrived at Epcot I activated my annual pass. Once the rope was dropped, we went straight to Test Track. Robin and I rode while mom waited. Robin gave it a big thumbs up and we went to grab mom. We decided to make a bathroom pit stop before continuing on. While in the bathroom stall I saw a camera flash and thought there must be some wacko in here taking a picture of the bathroom or something, so I got out of there fast. I went outside by mom and waited for Robin. When she came out of the ladies room she proceeded to tell us how she went to take her over alls down and how her camera fell out of the top pocket and landed on the floor, taking a picture of the bathroom. (hence the flash going off) We laughed and I told her that I thought it was some pervert or something.

Off we went to the Living Seas and we had the pleasure of watching the fish being fed. After checking out the gift shop we headed over to the Land pavilion and took the boat ride. Honey I Shrunk the Audience was our next stop. Then we headed inside the Imagination pavilion for the ride. (I still wish the original was still running) After the Land we headed off to Canada for lunch. I had the steak salad and it was great! I also had a coffee smoothie to try for a little sugar boost from not getting any sleep last night. After lunch we headed for Mexico after hitting the two gift shops at the forefront of World Showcase. Robin and I took the boat ride. We rode Maelstom next. I hate waiting for the movie in that little plaza so I asked the CM if I could leave to go to the bathroom. She was going to only let me go, but then I told her that I had my elderly mother with me and she let me go. We hit China next and then stopped for a drink at the Outpost. I caught my mother with a cigarette, which is a big no-no since she has emphysema. (remember the Darth Vader breathing) We hit Germany and checked out the shops. In Italy Robin got a kick out of the statue person in front of the pavilion. We went into the courtyard and out came the Carnivale players. One stopped behind the chair that Robin was sitting in and I took a picture. When I went to turn around I jumped because one of the players(with the huge nose) was standing over me with his nose next to my face! It scared the **** out of me!!J We stayed and watched their performance which was quite interesting.

The American Adventure was our next stop. I must say that the singers who performed before the show were absolutely fantastic!! I can’t wait for my oldest daughter Ashley to see their performance when we come down next month. After the show we checked out Germany and the shops there. Morocco was next and then France. The perfume shop nearly killed me. (I’m allergic to perfume) We hit the shop near the Y&B Club exit and took a breather on the benches while Robin called her hubby from the payphones nearby.

We hit the UK next and picked up a Beatles lunchbox for Ashley and a John Lennon CD for her also. I had it sent back to the Resort. We decided to start walking back towards Germany since we were having dinner there. I called my hubby to check on things at home before dinner. Dinner was great. We all enjoyed the show and after dinner they brought out a birthday cake and sang to my mother. We shared it with the other people sitting at our table. We found out that the father in the family we sat with would be celebrating a birthday the next day. After dinner we headed around the showcase again to find a seat for Illuminations near the two shops at the head of World Showcase. Well by the time it started, no one was sitting down and everyone had to stand. My mother got into an argument with the woman standing in front of us and ended up calling her an a**hole. I almost choked!! I said MOM, Please don’t call people a**holes. I really don’t want to get kicked out of Epcot. She is sooooo obnoxious sometimes! She is at that age where she just says what she wants and doesn’t care who likes it or who hears it. It drives my sister and I nuts. Anyway, after Illuminations we headed back to the hotel.

Stay tuned for Day 3

Great reports Pam! Sounds like you guys had lots of fun.

I can sympathize with your feelings about your Mom's attitude toward saying what she pleases. My bf's grandmother has the same attitude. She says "I have lived this long so I can d*** well say what I please and everyone else can deal with it!" It always makes for some interesting conversations. ;)

Day 3

Well I had another sleepless night. I think I finally fell asleep around 5 and we were up by 6:30. I decided to skip breakfast this morning because I had some business to take care of. After mom and Robin came back to the room we headed for MGM. Once we arrived, we headed straight for Rock and Roller Coaster. This is one of my top 4 rides of choice. I had goose bumps all over just waiting in line! Robin and I rode while mom waited on the benches near ToT. Robin was definitely impressed with this ride. We stopped to get mom who was talking to a nice man from Poland. We hit a few of the shops on our way to Indiana Jones. I showed Robin the 50’s Prime Time where we would be having lunch. Indiana Jones still had over an hour until it started so we headed for Star Tours. Mom rode this one with us. After the ride we hit the ladies room, (I told Robin there would be absolutely No flash photography allowed in the ladies room ;-) The green soldiers were out in front of The Great Movie Ride putting on a show, so we stopped so that Robin could watch for a few minutes. She wanted to see and do everything possible. Muppet Vision 3D was our next stop. After that we hit some more of the shops before heading over to the Behind the Scenes Tour. We walked right on. I had Robin get into the seat first. She was a bit leery of my motives for the seating arrangement. She really found this tour fascinating. Afterwards we headed over to the 50’s Prime Time for lunch. I had the ham sandwich on multigrain bread with fries and mom had the same. Robin had a salad. The server was great! We set our table like we were instructed while the table next to us, which had MOM as a server got into trouble for not setting the table. They were giving her attitude because they didn’t serve sweet tea there. After we ordered we were treated to seeing a man from another of our servers tables being “punished”. It seems he took a drink from one of his children’s glasses and got into trouble so he had to stand with his nose against the doorway and say he was sorry. The server constantly kept my mom in the mix of things by calling her by her name since I let them know ahead of time that it was her birthday. While eating our food, the server had a couple that he decided to punish to my mothers benefit. He told her, “this is for you for your birthday May”. He made these poor people perform I’m a little teapot in the doorway near our table. It was hilarious! Mom really enjoyed it. After lunch the server came over with a cupcake with a lit candle on it and everyone sang Happy Birthday to my mom. I cut up the cupcake into thirds so that we could all have a little piece. I have to say that it was good. The cake was nice and fresh.

After lunch we hit Indiana Jones. Mom decided not to join us. After the show we hit the Animation Tour. We checked out the rest of the shops and headed for the busses. We were meeting Mitzer and her husband for dinner at the Wilderness Lodges Whispering Canyon Café. When we arrived at the Resort, I took Robin around the interior on a tour. She was very impressed with this resort and took tons of pictures. She is very much into hunting and fishing and so is her husband. We took her outside and were able to catch the geyser going off. Afterwards we went back into the lobby and found some comfy chairs to lounge on while waiting for Mitzer to show up. Her husband found us first. They showed up around 10 minutes after we sat down.

Dinner was another adventure all together. Since it was mom’s birthday, the server made everyone hats out of brightly colored bandanas. Mom got mouse ears made out of her bandana, while I had a kerchief, Robin had a kerchief that stood straight up, Mitzer had a bandits mask and her husband wore what I can only describe as an Aunt Jemima hat. The server tied all four corners into individual knots and placed it on his head. Mitzer put a bug into the servers ear to have some fun with him, and boy did she ever! She came over with a microphone and announced mom’s birthday to everyone and went on to tell them that Mitzers hubby was going to ride a hobby horse and sing Happy Birthday to May all around the dining room. He went along with it and around the dining room he went with his little hat on his head. It was so funny we thought we’d die from laughing. I took some great pictures of this. (I hope Mitzer posts one!LOL) Well when he got back to our table the server asked him if he sang and he said yeah. And she said well I didn’t hear you and he said “oh I sang over on that side”.. WRONG ANSWER!! She told him that since he didn’t sing all the way around the dining room, that he now had to go out into the lobby and ride the hobby horse and sing for my mom!!! We were absolutely rolling with laughter! That poor man. After our fun, we finished our wonderful meal. They had brought my mother out a huge glass of soda with a big yellow straw that must have been 2 foot long. We brought it home for my youngest along with the bandanas. We had such a great time. I would suggest this restaurant to anyone.

After dinner we headed over to Down Town Disney for some shopping. We stayed for about an hour and a half and decided we were all pooped out and left. Mitzer and her husband drove us back to our hotel.

Gosh Pam, your report is awesome! Mine wasn't nearly as detailed as yours, but I didn't have the time either. Where is the rest? I can't wait to hear what you did next  ...

No, I won't be posting any photos of the birthday horse ride, unless I want a divorce! I promised not to. Although I thought he was a good sport, he wasn't so happy about the entire thing...so I promised I won't post any...sorry guys :( ...but it was hiliarous.

Post more when you get the chance Pam...I didn't know all this, but I have to see what Robin did next...since she is a total HOOT! And...I didn't realize you had the snoring group. I had a similar situation once with someone who didn't even realize she snored! How can you not realize that? I got no sleep either, felt like a zombie  the entire week, so I can sympathize. You just do what I did...hit them with a pillow and tell them to ROLL OVER!
