Paint the night is not moving to Disney World. Stop bumping this.

Any news? No one in Entertainment has really said anything re: later FoF that I've heard. I'm still hearing a lot of different rumors surrounding a new night parade, but nothing with a base that seems legitimate. A lot of the rumors I've heard have come from Entertainment cast, but the rumors themselves seem to contradict each other.

That's exactly where the entire rumor about "Paint The Night Is Coming To WDW!" started; from hourly front-line Entertainment CM's. Parade dancers and performers and float drivers and their low-level managers who are aghast at the thought of not having work.

But their original fabricated story that Paint The Night would be coming to WDW was proven false. I just saw Paint The Night at Disneyland last weekend, and the Disney Parks Blog has already announced the end date of June 18th, 2017 for MSEP at Disneyland while Paint The Night gets a big refurbishment before Fantasmic! 2.0 debuts next summer at Disneyland. https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/b...parade-returns-to-disneyland-park-january-20/

Sorry to the otherwise hard-working Entertainment CM's, but their rumor game doesn't fly any more. It may be tough to deal with, but Georgie K. just isn't that into you.

But he IS into squeezing every last dime out of the Guests at WDW, Hey the rubes don't need a nighttime parade as much as I need to improve margins.

I'm sure it didn't cost that much to produce this for the Newport Beach boat thing, but TDA can spend money to do that and TDO couldn't even spare a dime for an actual refurb on the parade. Just goes to show how different TDA & TDO are
And how out of sync the pixie dust effects are at WDW compared to DL (Back in DCA)

Don't TDO remind you of this guy?

What a fun surprise! This came out of nowhere. It's fantastic! Pure America.

And now we know for sure that they are returning the lead drum float from the staid and corporate "Disney's Electrical Parade" back to the original and much more charming "Main Street Electrical Parade". I enjoy that they put a little bit of Paint The Night flair into the drum float icon too. Merry Christmas, Mickey!

There are several Christmas Boat Parades in the waterfront suburbs of SoCal, but the Newport Beach parade is one of the biggest. It also helps that Newport Beach and Balboa Harbor is some of the most expensive property in America owned by Southern California's wealthiest families. Disneyland went after a very upscale and classy audience here, and from the video above it sounds like they enjoyed it.

And yes, I agree with you that the differences between TDA and TDO are on full display here.

I still find it strange that WDW kept "Disney's Electrical Parade" while the announcement uses "Main Street"

That video makes me wish Disney would create a fully realized boat-based light parade (something on the scale of their major land parades, more ambitious than the floats in this video or the Water Pageant at WDW). EPCOT and Animal Kingdom both have the ability to support this in spectacular fashion (though for those parks one would wish they could find a way to do so without complete reliance on inappropriate ip). Not to mention the reflection in the water would further enhance the lights and colors.

Rivers of Light sounds like it will have a few barge floats (particularly the glowing animal lanterns), but not the traditional style of floats decked out with thousands of tiny lightbulbs as seen driving down Main Street.

I've wanted this kind of light parade on the water for Epcot for a long time. I wish they would.

Apparently there is a rumor of FOF going dark for awhile next year until April... If true my guess would be it has something to do with a nighttime performance, perhaps installing more onboard lighting.

I'm not going to lie, if my vacation wasn't paid in full (tickets and DVC Rental) I would cancel. When I booked there was still MSEP and FoF. Now you're saying there is a chance there won't be either at MK? This is just getting sad. It really makes me angry because the parades are one of the things that really sets Disney apart from its competitors. They could easily leave the party floodlights up and floodlight this parade instead of taking it down and adding lights. On top of that, if they add lights, I'd imagine it wouldn't run in the daytime if it's been specially retrofitted for night performances.

A bit more information was released about MSEP coming back to Disneyland. Including the return of the original logo for the Drum Float.
From MousePlanet:

"In a separate press release, Disney detailed the lineup for the returning version. The parade will be led by the original Main Street Electrical Parade opening float, the classic drum unit that inspired one of the floats in the Paint the Night parade. Making the return to Disneyland are the 16-foot-tall Elliot from Pete's Dragon, the Cinderella's clock tower unit, and the "To Honor America" patriotic finale float.

The Peter Pan, Snow White, Pinocchio, and Alice in Wonderland units last seen at Disney California Adventure will all return to Disneyland. The Tinker Bell hot air balloon float will not be in this version of the parade, but Tinker Bell will appear on the Peter Pan unit.

The Blue Fairy float and Dumbo Circus units will not be presented in this version of the parade."

The full press release can be perused here. Of note is the fact that the press release specifically lists the drum wording change.

If the new drum float effects (if there are any) look anything like the boat effects, I'll be beyond happy. That looks so cool and such a welcome update.
