Paint the night is not moving to Disney World. Stop bumping this.

If you are only familiar with the current incarnation, then yes.
MSEP in the 80s and 90s was terrific....exspecially when WDW had its own units.

The version that just ended its run at WDW was the revised parade floats originally made for Disneyland.
Those were built on a smaller scale to fit that particular Parks more compact surroundings and narrower parade routes.
WDW used to have its own copy of MSEP, nearly exact, but the floats were built on a slightly larger scale to match the larger scale of the buildings and roadways of the Magic Kingdom in Orlando.
There were also a few different units between the coasts.
THAT version was great.

WDW lost its larger MSEP units when they were shipped overseas to one of the Asian parks and then eventually junked ( sunk, actually...in the harbor...).
Disneyland kept it's units because of it's historic importance, and thank the Gods they still mostly exsist today.

When I see the post 2000 revised version that just finished its run, it is not as charming to me as the previous version.
The 'updated' music is terrible ( the 70s score is the best ) and the added 'enhancements' are distracting in my opinion.

To each their own.

Wasn't the WDW version of MSEP shipped to Paris?

I hate to ask, but I've been out of the loop and I'd rather not scour thousands of posts... What's the current best guess / rumor about a nighttime replacement? Timing?
The hourly CM's down in the break room who started the false rumor (and thus this thread) about Paint The Night coming to WDW won't like this, but...

There is no replacement parade currently planned for Magic Kingdom Park. There may be a new night parade for Magic Kingdom Park for WDW's 50th Anniversary in 2021, likely funded in Fiscal Year 2020 and introduced in the spring of '20. Three and a half years from now.

IMO the reason the newer version just suck-diddly-ucks....Is the music....

Now..The original version...Yes....

And then there's......*Ugh* That new version I could give to blahs about....

That's because the music was reused from Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights and the music worked there since it was a remake of the original parade. But it doesn't feel the same when they used the Tokyo music for MSEP.

To add on to @TP2000's excellent-as-usual post, there is a parade design ready to go but someone has to pull the trigger on funding. There is a slight possibility that could happen in 2017, but it becomes more unlikely all the time. It does indeed look like MK will be without a light parade until the 50th.

This is just so... wrong. So ridiculously wrong, and yet so ridiculously accurate in how TDO has been running the place over the past 4-5 years (I'm being nice, one could argue it's been going on for well over a decade). There's addition-by-subtraction, but unfortunately in this instance it's addition-to-the-bottom-line-by-subtraction only.

So sad it's gone!
We all have our favs and un-favs, but for me the MSEP is Horizons all over again. Some other night parades are good, some day parades are fine, but the MSEP is really the one and only for me. The music, the floats, the sights and sounds - it's an integral part of the MK experience, I think it tired or outdated no more than Pirates or Small World.

I'm going to be my grumpy me and say how happy I am I waved my teary-eyed goodbye two weeks ago.

If it is the last time I see and hear the MSEP, I want to see and hear the parade, not an unruly screaming mob outscreaming the parade.
But the screaming is part of the charm of the final showing.

This isn't the first time this happened.

It's time like this where I wished OLC were able to run the parks at WDW. Knowing how well and often they create new parades and updates there current electrical parade.

This is going to be a long wait.

Designing differently scaled floats for a cloned parade is definitely not something Disney would do today.

I forgot how naive I was about the inner workings of TDO before joining this website. I just spent like 10 minutes arguing with people who truly believe that Disney is secretly building a new nighttime parade and that theres no way cutting MSEP was a cost cutting measure. :/
