So you guys are all excited about this nonsensical food court remake? You think this is the wonderful future of the Disneyland Resort?

Cause I think this is silly and dumb. And cheap. And also Mexico is not Japan. But apparently I'm the only one who can tell the difference.

But if this excites you as the big addition to DCA instead of the family water ride and the E Ticket coaster and the rebuild of Hyperion Theatre and the entire Hollywood Backlot into a fully fledged themed land, then go for it and have the tacos that were never in Big Hero 6.

And then, for only a $29 upcharge you can get a bottle of Coke and wait on this cement pad for your seat for Rogers The Musical...

You're immersed, right? You love it, don't you? You're lucky TDA even lets you experience such pampering, right? ;)
You just don’t get it, it’s incredible theming.

I heard to further tie in to the Big Hero 6 blockbuster, an El Torito is being added to the Japan pavilion at Epcot.

It just to me seemed like a good opportunity to have more asian foods in the park. Instead the sole asian restaurant in DCA is now asian mexican fusion.

Oh, geez. I hadn't even thought of it like that, but you're right.

This retheme will also have a souvenir stand where shaded dining used to be, a medallion vending machine, and a fake bridge. And the full use of a $500 gift card from Party City.

I'm just so underwhelmed by all this, as you can probably tell. It seems to be a troubling sign for the artistic direction they are going with their Anaheim parks, especially as it was announced with great fanfare at D23 Expo.

But maybe it will just be a one-off bad decision soon forgotten and/or corrected? Sort of like the Jingle Cruise, or Walt's Dreaming Tree.

Pretty sure almost no one is excited about this.

You’re making things up simply because folks are justifying the food fusion, based on both the movie and actual food offerings.

It's very troubling. I just get the sense that however this project got approved and very modestly funded, that it's not a good sign for the immediate future. Whoever is in charge of approving and funding stuff like this doesn't get it. And likely doesn't even care much about it.

They took a food court with a Mexican restaurant and an Asian restaurant, and mashed the menus together so that they both are now selling Mexican-Asian-Fusion "inspired" food. Because... Japan and Baymax?

But this line below is not just hilariously accurate, it's part of the reason this concept is concerning. Brilliant assessment. 🤣

Also Disneyland food used to be much more than flashy fusion items meant for 20 year olds to pretend they are foodies.

Baymax is a character from the movie… Japan is used as inspiration for San Fransokyo, which is also from the movie… This new area is based on the movie. Logic is headed in the right direction. What is there to be confused about?

They were too cheap to actually make a Baymax ride, so they just changed the menus and repainted the old food court. Plus patio lights.

Then they'll get some YouTube bloggers from Brea to gush about the "fusion" cuisine of burritos with kimchee on them.

Baja Mexico "architecture" in Baja Ridge celebrating Chinese food. Plus pandas: Only from the brain trust at Six Flags. :banghead:

Okay, not to throw Siracha on the fire (and mostly because I only found out about this less than five years ago) I give you this:

The Innovative Chinese Food Coming Out of a Mexican Border Town

Chinese Food, The Mexicali Kind

So, there's that (not that Panda Express really represents "Chinese Food" anyway.)

PS: I still think "Bridge on a Bridge" looks stupid.

In general I'm getting bored of DLR doing fusion food for all their new offerings be it a land or a festival.

"Look at this pizza that's actually a burrito".

Like theres room for fusion food but it shouldnt be the only offering. I guess whatever is flashiest for social media is what ends up winning.
I get that to a point, but again, the city in the movie is explicitly a fusion of different influences. So it's not terrible to me that an area based on a fusion environment would have fusion cuisine.

The only actual Baymax ride is in Tokyo, and even there it's Mater's by another name.

If they WERE building a Baymax ride, even if it were the E ticket of E tickets, I'm sure you would find a way to spin it negatively despite, again, demonstrating zero evidence you know anything about the movie not garbled from Google, let alone having actually seen the thing yourself.

Anyway, you seem fixated on the fact that people aren't complaining about this enough. There were plenty of complaints, it was just months ago when you apparently didn't notice. Most people have moved on. Do I think this change is necessary? No. But it's not worth getting into a tizzy over when there are much bigger issues with the resort and that park in particular than a rethemed, IP-ified food court.

I genuinely don't see how this menu is getting on people's nerves at this moment in time. (Doubly confused given I've tried over half of the new items on the menu and most were far tastier than the old items ever were.)

Theming overlay aside - the only items on the current menu that I would eat were on the 2019 menu.

The more the parks complicate (and spice) their food offerings, the less options I'm finding to eat there.

Since we're dealing with alternate realities, Disney should have used some of their spare cash to buy Anchor Brewing, and put their presence in this area.

Out of all the things that increased in price from 2022 to 2023, the potstickers went +$2.

Almost ten bucks for some 4 (frozen) gyozas, now that's ridiculous lol.

Stop it! I'm too immersed!

No kidding. It's like San Francisco just can't catch a break.

You almost feel badly for them, but then you remember they did this to themselves... 🤔
