"Own" a "Piece" of Disney

For those of us that aren't able to get some of the pins seeing as how we aren't at WDW do you think we can work something out. Like members who are at WDW can pick up pins for those wanting them. Sound like something we can organize?

So, does anyone know anything about the rules on merchandise mail order? Just curious if it's possible to mail order one, if I were able to call at opening before they were sold out (I predict these will sell fast).

You generally can't purchase new pins, and particularly limited editions. Some types may be available from the Disney store (usually sets) and from the recently from the site I linked to at the start of this thread. Most likely the only ways we will be able to get these is either with help from a friend in the Orlando area or on Ebay.

Good luck

Yeah I sure most hear would be honest enough to do something like that for fellow members. I myself can not get to WDW until late june/july of this year, and I know alot of pins will have been out by then, doubting highly if l'd find the first in the series still for sale then. I'd like a 20k pin, or if they make a IASM one from materiels and items from the rehab, theres a few more i'd like but thats for another thread, but a 20k pin is tops on my list,it was one of my favorites.

I'll bet you could probably call the mail order and get one...I hope.

I think this is a very good gimmick for Disney to make some $$. It is definitely a great idea that will fare very well.

My guess for price would be $15.00 because I believe that is the price of the Magical Moments pins right? And these shouldn't be more than that because they seem about equal in different ways (Magical Moments interacts and these contain ride parts).

Is there a release date set though? It is getting toward the end of the month and it isn't even in the upcoming pin section on the site.

Also, does anyone know if there is any other Happiest Celebration souvenirs out right now besides the pin?

I really wouldn't count on being able to purchase these from Disney through mail order.

I also don't believe that this can be considered a money grab by Disney. It's a limited edition series and a total of 12-18 (max) will be in the series. Its much more a great commercial and PR event than it is for money...plus, just very possibly, passing on the cynicism for a moment, the idea was developed by an artist who liked the idea of this sort of memento for her or himself.

Then again, it won't be bad money, say they go for $15 with $10 profit (I know I'm being conservative), so 25000 per pin x 12 = 300,000. OK, so I wouldn't mind having that, but you figure they make the same for any number of other series and LE pins, so the extra work involved doesn't justify the cost.

I think we should just enjoy this one, I am looking forward to owning my piece or two...not for personal profit or any of that stuff, it will stay home for me to enjoy.

Ahh.. so eBay it will be for this pin and the CoP 30th anniversary at WDW. Evil Disney, releasing all the good pins as soon as I go home. The CoP one was released the day I left!! But I left before the MK opened. :(

Whole 20K Portholes

If this has been posted previously I apologize, but they were selling the 20K portholes (not cut up, but in whole) just last month on property. That may be where they got the idea for the pins from, because the portholes weren't selling at all. They ran for $120 each, and with the Cast Member Holiday discount, they ended up being $80 for Cast Members...

I have never really cared for these “piece” of something collectables. While owning a porthole from one of the 20k subs would be pretty neat having a 1/8” cube of brass that is suppose to be cut from a 20k sub porthole just doesn’t thrill me.

I have to agree.

Anyone know where they will go on sale at? I'll be in DTD tomorrow night so maybe I'll stop by Pin Central over there and see if they have them. But I agree with whoever said it, I dont know if its worth that much for a 1/8" piece of a ride. Heck, I'm happier with my count down to Mission: Space opening pins.

Ah! I was wondering what they'd use for the TOT. Interesting, though I'm not sure I like the pin design itself. That's not the greatest pose for Goofy.

On a happy note, I did get my 20k pin today. Two of them, actually. So, I'm quite happy about that. :sohappy:

Just so you people know, I called and apparantly, after 30 days, whatever they have left you can buy by phone, but in that time I'm sure these pins will be gone, and sadlym I wont be in Disney for another few months at least, and I love 20K, although I never rode it

But God, do I love ebay :sohappy: .

Look on ebay now, they have several auctions up for the first pin, heck i got one by using 'Buy it Now' for around 16$, a real find in my opinon, but there are several i've seen for around 20$ with buy it now.
