Trip Report Our wonderful Christmas vacation thanks to the Pepto!

It's December 13th and were up and ready to go.... Except for my sweet daughter Cady.

She has decided that she actually wants to go to her second period class before we leave for Disney!!!

Why would I let me 14 year old call the shots? Well she has this crazy passion for music, I mean crazy and on this day they were doing something special in her music class so yes I pushed back our trip by 3 hours. Much to the dismay of my other children.

At 10 in the morning we have finally hit the road and are on our way. After driving for 14 hours we decide to stop in Tifton, Ga for the night. We stayed at Microtel. Why am I telling you this? Because you should never...NEVER stay there. The lobby looked nice the man at the counter was very nice but the rooms were disgusting and the beds were the worst I've slept on. I suppose thats what you get when you pay $51.00 for a hotel room .

We left POR to come home to the UK on 21 Nov. your trip report is helping with my "home sick" as it's cold and raining here. I just love riverside. Sorry you were so sick, that's just awful especially while on holiday. And we took advantage of BOG too via a link on this site (loving WDWMagic for those little tips!) Looking forward to the rest of your report

It was horrible but luckily the symptoms didn't last to long. I did have some after affects but was able to get around the next day

Loving the report! Funny that you got split and ended up at MK, seems it was meant to be.
I'm also wondering who that little door is for. Sorry about what happened at EPCOT.

Day 3!!

This was supposed to be a day where we woke up late and did whatever the majority wanted. The kids wanted to go to HS but my stomach was pretty...tender I decided that I was going to wait for a few hours just to make sure all was well. Joe had no problem taking the kids and leaving me with some peace and quiet. Do you know how boring it is sitting in your hotel room at Disney by yourself? Then I made it worse by watching Love it or List it. o_O That has got to be the worst show on HGTV.

I feel like i'm doing ok so I get around and hop on a bus to HS. I have to admit how nice it is to get ready, walk around the resort, ride a bus and slowly walk to the park giving you a chance to look at all the decorations and the "Disney architecture". It was wonderful... no screaming kids, no one fighting about what we should do first. It was nice.

They are ready to eat and the kids really want Pizza Planet so I head in that direction and meet them. This is a must for us. I've read alot of bad reviews for Pizza Planet but my kids love it. Maybe some of it is the atmosphere but I think the pizza is not that bad. We do it every trip.

From there they all want to ride Star Tours but I sit it out. I'm ok to walk around but no food or rides for me. They really enjoy it and Emily was very excited because she was the Rebel Spy!!! The kids are feeling bad for me and agree to go on the Great Movie Ride. On the way Cady see's the American Idol tryout's. I convince her that it would be best if she waits till Wednesday when we come back at opening to tryout. Now were back on our way GRM. I love this ceiling!!

And I must say this part of the ride really surprised me. I don't remember the explosion at all.

What happens next is a lit bit of a blur but I think we head back to the hotel to rest before heading to MK and my dinner pick OHANA!!!!!

We took a bus to MK then hopped on the monorail to Poly. I wish someone would have warned me about the amounts of food that you get at Ohana. It was unbelievable. After having salad I realized I felt fine until I started eating. Noooo....... :arghh:This is my pick I can't be sick. I try a pot sticker and a wing and they are delish but am not able to have more. That's when our waiter starts bringing chicken, shrimp, pork, steak and then it starts all over. I couldn't believe that I had all this amazing food and I could only eat a few bites of each. I guess you could say that was my next disappointment. No one seemed to have much if an appetite Although it was delicious I felt like we wasted a meal.

We hopped back on the monorail and went to MK They were having EMH!! We all stayed together for a little while riding our FP+ then Zane wanted to play more of the sorcerer cards so Zane and Joe went on there way. the girls and I rode SM and the People Mover/Transit Authority which came to a stop. I wish it would have stopped in one of the nice warm buildings but no it stopped outside. Up until this point the weather has been terrific but this evening was pretty chilly by Florida standards.

We moved on to pooh and I think I had more fun playing in the queue than on the ride. Don't get me wrong the ride was super cute but I was loving the honey wall ! We walked behind the castle and watched the fireworks. I have to say amazing. You'll have to take my word because I was in my own little world and have no pictures to prove it.

OMG I'm luh luh looving your TR! I'm so so sorry to hear about your incident in EPCOT, I would've been freaking out! I agree with your kids, Pizza Planet is always a must! I do believe it is because of the atmosphere but then again there's something unique about Disney pizza! I feel so bad that you didn't get to enjoy Ohana as that is one of my favorites too!
Can't wait to read more, I'm definitely following along!

I did forget to mention that while the kiddo's went to HS I thought that maybe I could try some Pepto (since coming to Disney in winter i brought a whole arsenal of cold meds but nothing for the flu so i ran, ok walked to the gift shop and went to their little section of food, toiletries and meds. Everything was stocked and I noticed that the only thing that people were buying was pepto. I must not be the only one in my condition. I paid $5.99 for a travel size bottle and went into the bathroom and started my first dose. I will say it was the best money I've spent all week! :)

Ok on to day um..4

We had FP+ for ANIMAL KINGDOM!!! I love this park. I know some say it's a half day park but if people would just slow down and look at everything it's gorgeous!

I love the tree at AK

This is me. Not sure where all the wrinkles came from

Our first FP for Kilinmajro (i know) :D wasnt for awhile and everyone was hungry so we headed over to Yak and Yeti. They were packed. We found a table in the back and it took us awhile wondering why it was open....these guys are the culprit
DSCN0142.JPG

They would dive bomb our table for food. Emily has thing about spiders and birds. She was screaming all through lunch. I tried not to laugh but it was so hard not to. Lunch was over fairly quickly.

This was how Joe and Zane had to eat. One of the birds actually hit Joe's head.

OMG- for whatever reason, I love Love It or List It. I make DH watch it all the time. I'm so sorry your tummy wasn't cooperating...especially on a night when you're at 'Ohana.
OH NO not you HouCuseChickie!!!! Your supposed to like Cake Boss and CupCake Wars not Love it or List it. Why can't Hillary ever remodeled the whole house..why is there always 2 rooms she can't do? It drives me nuts!! :)

Great smile for someone not feeling well. Way to go keeping the Disney spirit while feeling down. What are these wrinkles you are referring to?
We have never spent less than a full day there when we go to AK. So much to see and do. Just exploring the trails and seeing the animals and appreciating the views is a half day for us...shame many miss out on what makes AK so special.
Read somewhere where somebody said they hop from HS to AK on the same day and are finished with both by 3 p.m. I can't even imagine that.
Looking forward to more of the TR. Hope you report your recovery soon.
Oh, I like Love it or List it as well, but she always runs into problems to mess up the remodeling budget. List it I say!

Oh, I love those too :) It definitely is annoying that she can never redo the whole home, that there's always some major setback (or 3), and the house listings they go see always fall in the same pattern. Honestly, it cracks me up and I think that's why we watch. DH and I will be sitting there wondering/joking- will there be asbestos? will there be mold from pipes that aren't up to code? how soon into the first showing will one of them say "he just didn't read our list of must haves." I should also note that we're usually watching around 11pm on a weekend night and having a few beers ;)

Your visit was during the same time my brother was there with his family and they were at PORS too...and I crack up seeing the pics with everyone in shorts because the week of Thanksgiving I was in long pants pretty much everyday!

My first Ohana experience was similar - it was our last meal of the week...we were on the dining plan so we ate table service every night. By the last day - my stomach was officially on strike. I could barely eat anything. So disappointing.

But we tried it again our next trip and had it the 2nd night - much better results! But I still think a day of fasting is required before Ohana!

Great TR...can't wait to read more!!
