Trip Report Our wonderful Christmas vacation thanks to the Pepto!

It's December 13th and were up and ready to go.... Except for my sweet daughter Cady.

DSCN0018.JPG

She has decided that she actually wants to go to her second period class before we leave for Disney!!!

Why would I let me 14 year old call the shots? Well she has this crazy passion for music, I mean crazy and on this day they were doing something special in her music class so yes I pushed back our trip by 3 hours. Much to the dismay of my other children.

At 10 in the morning we have finally hit the road and are on our way. After driving for 14 hours we decide to stop in Tifton, Ga for the night. We stayed at Microtel. Why am I telling you this? Because you should never...NEVER stay there. The lobby looked nice the man at the counter was very nice but the rooms were disgusting and the beds were the worst I've slept on. I suppose thats what you get when you pay $51.00 for a hotel room .

@epcotisbest Not you too!! Who knew there were so many Love it and List it fans :hilarious:. I have found that a sick day at Disney beats a healthy day at home!! :joyfull: And i agree with you about AK. That person that did HS and AK by 3 in a day really missed out on so much!!

Oh, I love those too :) It definitely is annoying that she can never redo the whole home, that there's always some major setback (or 3), and the house listings they go see always fall in the same pattern. Honestly, it cracks me up and I think that's why we watch. DH and I will be sitting there wondering/joking- will there be asbestos? will there be mold from pipes that aren't up to code? how soon into the first showing will one of them say "he just didn't read our list of must haves." I should also note that we're usually watching around 11pm on a weekend night and having a few beers ;)
That actually is a good way to watch it :D Make bets on how soon Hillary finds something wrong!!

My first Ohana experience was similar - it was our last meal of the week...we were on the dining plan so we ate table service every night. By the last day - my stomach was officially on strike. I could barely eat anything. So disappointing.

But we tried it again our next trip and had it the 2nd night - much better results! But I still think a day of fasting is required before Ohana!

Great TR...can't wait to read more!!
Thanks! We will definitely have try Ohana again. The food was great but Oh so much. The only thing I think I wouldn't want again was the salad. Maybe it was the fruit in it? o_O

Your visit was during the same time my brother was there with his family and they were at PORS too...and I crack up seeing the pics with everyone in shorts because the week of Thanksgiving I was in long pants pretty much everyday!
Thanks for reading along!!

Just got done with round 2 of shoveling. I swear it snowed at least 4" since I last shoveled.

Anyway. After lunch we headed off to our first FP.
image.jpg

This guy was so close I had to zoom all the way out and lean back!! It was so cool. We've never had such a close encounter.

This is where another disappointment came. Zane had to go to the bathroom right now! I have managed to pass my flu to Zane. We run to the bathroom and my poor Zane is in there for awhile. The girls get the FP times and we let them go off by themselves so they don't have to wait for Zane. He comes out and seems ok so we hop on a train to Rafiki's planet.

We've never went there and I was loving this wall
image.jpg

It was simply gorgeous!!

Good thing there's a bathroom. Zane's ran in again but came out very happy. They have stories about poop on the back of the bathroom doors. Seriously. I had to look in the ladies room. It was funny!! I recommend using this bathroom.

More wall
image.jpg

After leaving there we walk around the back of the tree
image.jpg

WHY HAVE I NEVER NOTICED THIS BEFORE!!! It's stunning!! @epcotisbest This is why people need to slow down at AK. This is the fourth time I've been here and have never looked at the back of the tree! But of course we have to keep moving. Zane needs another bathroom. We see that flights of wonder just started and it was on my to do list so we watched it thinking it would be good for Zane to rest a little.

Sorry. Not sure how I misplaced my thumbnail pics in the above post but I can't seem to fix it.

After Flight of wonder our EE FP was about up so we head that way. Zane has convinced us he'll be ok on Everest. We load onto the train when he changes his mind. We're headed up the hill and he starts crying. I try to talk to him about the ride and tell him what's happening seconds before it happens. Zane has ridden EE before so I'm figuring it had to be because he isn't feeling well. The bad thing is I'm not sure he'll ever ride it again.

Afterwards the girls met up with us and we watched the Nemo Show. Another first for us. I enjoyed it. Next dinosaur, bathroom, primeval whirl, bathroom. Picture opportunity
image.jpg

Joe and Zane decide to do its Tough to be a Bug while the girls and I get a redo on Everest. Afterwards it's time to head to our dinner reservations at Boma's. On the way out I see Doug and Russell. I can't pass them up and I can't convince anyone else to join me
image.jpg

But do I care?? NOPE!!

Ok..Wrapping up day 4

We hop on a bus to AKL and find Boma's. I picked Boma's because of the reviews on here. I fixed a plate for myself and wouldn't you know it my stomach is still sore. It doesn't bother me to much because honestly I wasn't liking the food at Boma's. I noticed Zane wasn't eating to much either but i'm not surprised since he spent half his day in a bathroom. What i am surprised at is that his spirits are pretty good. I forgot how fast you bounce back when your 10 years old. Joe does like to try different and exotic foods but he and the girls weren't to impressed with the food either so I don't think we'll be going back.

It takes us a long time to get home. A DTD bus wasn't a good choice to transfer on. We are in need of some relaxation so after getting back Joe, Zane and I head to the hot tub! We were told that they clean them out every other night by the lifeguard. This is good to know since sitting in other people filth grossed me out.

It just keeps raining and raining and raining and RAINING. "And the rain rain rain came down down down" and now it's going to freeze! The high tomorrow is -4...
LOL that's the best reply yet!!. Im heading out for round 3. The city plows keep shuting our drive closed. Maybe it's time for a snow blower. We have definitely had 10" by now.

WOW!!! Now that really stinks. Nothing worse then being sick on vacation.

I had the stomach bug in February when I was in Disney :( NO FUN!!!
Sure hope it didn't last long. Mine made for a loooong flight home. Hope that never happens again!
Your family is cute. Enjoying your TR :)

It was actually a big fear of mine to go in the winter. I was so worried about someone getting sick. I'm just glad it was me that got the worst of it.

Zane wanted to do the Sorcerer cards at MK so Joe, Emily and Zane left for MK while Cady and I went to HS for her audition at American Idol. Our original plan was to arrive at opening and use our FP+ in the morning hours. Well nothing ever seems to stay as planned at Disney but we've learned to just roll with it. We head over to AI and get in line for auditions. There are just 3 other singers waiting. When Cady gets called in we enter a little room with 2 people and they ask Cady about her singing and music back ground. Cady has never sang in front of anyone, she has never been in choir or had any lessons so I'm not sure how this will go. She decides to sing an Adele song. Ouch...that's big shoes to fill. But...she sounds so good. Not at all like Adele and not Adele style. Its softer and smokey. I'm so happy for her. The man in the room tells her she sounds like a coffee house singer and he can tell that she has knowledge of timing when it comes to music (she plays alto sax by the way). Then politely tells her she hasn't made it to the next round. I'm still so proud of Cady for trying but you can tell she was upset/disappointed.

After leaving AI Cady doesnt want to do much so we just walk around for awhile. We end up at Starring Rolls and get one of these bad boys.
image.jpg

We use our Toy Story FP and I kick butt!! It's all in the trigger action! My secret is don't hold the ball and pull, hold the string between your 2 fingers kind of like a cigerate (can you tell i don't smoke..i can't even spell it ) and then pull towards you. Twice as many "bullets" that way. Your Welcome :D.

I try to move Joe, Emily and Zane's FP around and it get all messed up because I didn't change all 5 FP+. It shows that only 3 are there. Cady and I have lost ours. I run to Guest Relations and they fix everything for us and then give us an addtional FP to use on anything whenever we want. Not Bad but disappointed I had to take the time to go have it taken care of. On to Star Tours. Joe, Emily and Zane have caught up with us and everyone is starving so we head to DTD for our reservations at..

DSCN0148.JPG

This was Zane's pick. And I have to admit T REX was a tie for my best meal. I had the guac a saurus burger (i can't spell today and I'm not spell checking, hope everyone is all right with that). ;) The burger was enormous! I mean I couldnt even open my mouth enough to fit around the burger but it was soooooo good. Maybe it was because I could finally eat without thinking about my stomach. The inside of TREX is pretty neat. I was disappointed that we didn't get in the ice room but after taking pictures around the restaurant I'm glad we didn't. It went from obnoxious pink to a dark blue. I wouldn't have been able to see my awesome guac a saurus burger. :p

Yikes...do you see that Pink!!

After lunch we walk around DTD and I have to stop at SOSA'S Cigar shop. I work with a Deputy that is retiring and he loves Disney and was telling me that SoSa's has the best vanilla cigars. I have to get him one!

This next pic is actually funny. My kids are not getting along (something I've been keeping from you the whole report ) I tell them that we are not moving from this spot until they come over and smile to get their picture taken. This is the shot I got. I can't ask for more than these fake smiles :)

There is no mid day break for us today. We head back to HS yes we are spending a whole day at HS. This is my last chance to see Fantasmic and the Osbourne Lights and I'm not missing it so I'm calling the shots. Plus this morning I didnt get to do to much since Cady and I took it slow. We still have another round of FP+ for TS and RNR. Because of closing and the time for Fantasmic we may miss our RNR FP but im not hopping on MDE anymore today to switch times around. I'm all about just "seeing" what I can. We head to Fantasmic and it's almost time to start. So i know good seats are limited. Actually they're none left at all. We go to the extra seats in the back and we can't see anything so we decide to leave when momma mode kicks in. I know whats going to happen so I kindly go up to an attendant and ask if we can stand behind the wheel chairs because we are unable to see. He looks around and says sorry we can't but.. more looking around... "you can sit here" and he opens up a chained off area and SCORE!!!! We can see!!! I love Disney. It helps to be nice. When your nice, they're nice.

These pics arent very good. My point and shoot doesn't do very well with action in the dark.

After Fantasmic we have 3 minutes to get to RNR before our FP+ is up. Were running yep running. WHoo hoo. We make it. Then we notice that TOT only has 15 minute wait. UH YES!! Love TOT!! By this time the park is going to be closing in a few minutes and we still have Toy Story FP to use so we head that way. We just make it and wouldn't you know it.. I WIN AGAIN!!. Trigger Action Baby!!

The park should be closing at this time but I know the Osbourne lights stay on for awhile for we head that way. I have tried to not look at to many pictures of the lights so that i will be wowed when I see them in person. I don't think it would have mattered. They are phenominal (i'm sticking to the can't spell thing). I have a video but can't figure how to post it on here so pics are all i can post for now.

LOVING your trip report!! I'm so sorry that you and your son were sick for your trip, but I'm glad you both managed to keep good spirits in spite of it and that you eventually got to feeling better. I love the Osborne Lights, too! They're possibly my favorite thing about visiting WDW during the holidays! :)
