Pre-Trip Our laces 'em up, tiara on, 10 days of run and fun PTR

Hi everybody!

The Cast of Characters: My DH, Niles, and I

Photo0167FourBySix.jpg

Supporting Cast: my parents and perhaps my brother and his girlfriend Emily

Where: We are staying at Beach Club/Yacht Club (maybe the Villas depending how many characters we get)

IMG_7248.JPG

When: February 21, 2014 to March 2nd, 2014

What: A 10 day, fun filled trip to the World with a wee run thrown in. Planning on a MYW package with dining and 10 day park hopper tickets.

Why: I'm running the Disney Princess Half Marathon!!!

Many of you know my personal journey to start a family with my wonderful husband. After years of shots and treatments and living via the IVF calendar, we have taken some time off and are just enjoying life and making plans that are not driven by a doctors calendar. This journey has made my weight yo yo and I have always struggled with my weight and body image. So crossing that finish line is a personal goal for me - to put all those struggles and issues behind me and take control of my life again.

Here's what we have planned so far:

Friday February 21:
Arrive via MCO and the wonderful crew of DME
Check into Beach Club/Yacht Club
Check out the Expo for the Marathon
Head to Epcot via the International Gateway in the evening for the Pasta in the Park Party and watch Illuminations

Saturday February 22:
A lazy Resort Day
Start the day with breakfast at Cape May. Then spend the day relaxing and resting at the pool and resort. Head to Epcot in the early evening via the International Gateway for Dinner at Rose & Crown - a tradition for Niles and I. Head back to the resort after dinner and watch Illuminations from the Resort or I might already be sleeping. Big Day next day!

Sunday February 23:
RACE DAY!
After the race and a nap, head to Magic Kingdom for dinner at Be Our Guest.

Monday February 24:
This day is predicted to have EMH for Epcot. So via International Gateway, head to Epcot in the a.m., early lunch at Le Cellier, then back to resort in afternoon, and back again in the evening for EMH. Probably just grab dinner in the World Showcase.

Tuesday February 25:
Head to Animal Kingdom - very excited because we got rained out both days in September. Lunch at Yak and Yeti, our favorite! Head to DHS via bus after lunch. After an evening at DHS, head back to the resort via the boat.

Wednesday February 26:
A big fun filled day at MK! Have lunch at BOG. Don't know yet for dinner.

Thursday February 27:
Head back to Animal Kingdom and after lunch, head to Epcot via the bus for dinner at Les Chefs de France and Illuminations

Friday February 28:
DHS is predicted to have EMH. So head to DHS in the a.m. via the boat, lunch at pizza planet, then a resort break. Back to DHS for dinner. Don't know where yet.

Saturday March 1st:
Spend the day at Resort and head to MK for predicted EMH. No dining decisions yet here.

Sunday March 2nd:
Final morning at MK. Breakfast at CRT. And head back to DC via MCO.

Of course, dining is speculated because I can't make ADR's yet. :)

So that's all I have for now!

Any advice and suggestions are great! I have never run a Disney half marathon before so any advice is great too!

Thanks for reading!!

Crashing your thread again-Congratulations on setting a goal to go with a trip! Like a double reward-Going to Disney and getting the coveted medal at the end.I did the couch to 5k program a few years ago and found it really helped with my breathing and shin splints.

Looking forward to reading your trip report-wish I could be running it too! Keeping you in prayerful thoughts-notice my Avatar-Took 3 years but was so worth it.

How awesome for you to be off of work. I'm ony lunch break now, but can't wait to get home.

Yes... Looking forward to that confirmation email. :)

I nearly fainted with the prices! Brace yourself! The cast member was very nice and she was like, they are good with discounts so not to worry. We will have to see. I'm hoping for free dining or a room discount to bring that full price number down. But I got that confirmation email! We are all booked! :)

We're booked, too!!! I didn't have time to post this Wednesday night as we were had our "Disney dinner" which was yummy. O'Hana wings, O'Hana Green Beans and Broccoli, Sunshine Seasons potato salad, Starring Rolls Butterfinger Cupcakes and Gold Peak Sweet Tea (they serve this at Disney and its my favorite).
We bumped our trip up to 1 day earlier because our last night at Pop would have gone from $95 to $145.

Pop Century Feb 6-13
Driving with an aunt and Uncle from Columbus, OH
Hoping and praying for FREE DINING!!! We will still book ADR's, but will not do the dining plan unless its free. We costed it out and the three of us can eat cheaper then $1300 for 7 days.

Happy planning! I understand what you and Niles have gone through, so we wish you all the magic in the world on this trip. Keep an eye open for a PTR in the next couple of weeks.

Can't wait for a PTR! And congrats on booking! Your Disney Dinner sounds great!! Such a fun idea!!

I am so hoping for free dining or a room discount. Either will do. We are also going to book our free dining. We just need something to get this number down. :) Happy Planning!! And thank you! Yes, Niles and I have been through so much. I appreciate the magic coming our way. For a minute I feel okay with everything and then I am not okay with it. The running is helping. Giving me something else to focus on. :)

Absolutely!!! Don't waste a perfectly good day by NOT being at "the mouse".

How about February operating hours, please!?!?!?!?! Seriously! Don't they know we have more planning to do?

I know right! I am SO ready for those hours to be released!!! Dying for them!! When do you think they will be out?

Just popping in quick to say that I'm on board for this report. I just started running last year after years of saying, "no way I don't get why you people want to do that?!" I will absolutely RunDisney someday, just trying to figure out when! I now know how awesome it is to run in a regular road race, I cannot freaking imagine a magical Disney one!! I'm planning on running my first half marathon locally in the fall. My sister gets married this winter so I figure this is the time to get it on and put in these miles. Best of luck to you and I can't wait to see the pics in February. You go Princess!!!

Thank you so much for this boost of inspiration. I was running and crying on the treadmill today. It was a really discouraging run - couldn't get into my grove - couldn't get my breathing right - etc. Just a bad discouraging run. So having you say this was just the best timing and thank you so much!!!!

The discouraging runs will always happen, don't let them beat you. That's easier said than done, I'm way behind on my training because it's been too hot and humid here to run far. It's all in your head, beat your head! Lol, not literally of course, if that makes sense. Music is always what gets me through it. And when possible/available a great running buddy, not to talk to during, really just nice to have by your side. You got this.

Thank you! Yes, I wish my DH was more on board. I don't have many friends here with no kids so they don't have much flexibility with being my running partner. So I rely on my DH but he just isn't there yet. I am going to talk to him about being my buddy to help me. Maybe if I call him my coach he will get into it. I am about to hit the treadmill again so back up and running. :) It has been WAY to humid and hot here to run too - and bad air quality so even if you can stand the heat, which I can, the air quality kills me. Thanks again!!!

Do you think they are updating the calendar? Yesterday all numbers in February were dark but now, the 1 is blue and you can click on it! But still no times yet. Fingers crossed!

Boy I sure hope so! I spent last night writing our PTR...now were just waiting to see park hours to plan those ADR's. Once we get the ADR's booked, I'll post the PTR. I need to be productive today...and sitting in front of the computer or checking my iphone every 5 minutes isn't going to help. :D
