Pre-Trip Our laces 'em up, tiara on, 10 days of run and fun PTR

Hi everybody!

The Cast of Characters: My DH, Niles, and I

Photo0167FourBySix.jpg

Supporting Cast: my parents and perhaps my brother and his girlfriend Emily

Where: We are staying at Beach Club/Yacht Club (maybe the Villas depending how many characters we get)

IMG_7248.JPG

When: February 21, 2014 to March 2nd, 2014

What: A 10 day, fun filled trip to the World with a wee run thrown in. Planning on a MYW package with dining and 10 day park hopper tickets.

Why: I'm running the Disney Princess Half Marathon!!!

Many of you know my personal journey to start a family with my wonderful husband. After years of shots and treatments and living via the IVF calendar, we have taken some time off and are just enjoying life and making plans that are not driven by a doctors calendar. This journey has made my weight yo yo and I have always struggled with my weight and body image. So crossing that finish line is a personal goal for me - to put all those struggles and issues behind me and take control of my life again.

Here's what we have planned so far:

Friday February 21:
Arrive via MCO and the wonderful crew of DME
Check into Beach Club/Yacht Club
Check out the Expo for the Marathon
Head to Epcot via the International Gateway in the evening for the Pasta in the Park Party and watch Illuminations

Saturday February 22:
A lazy Resort Day
Start the day with breakfast at Cape May. Then spend the day relaxing and resting at the pool and resort. Head to Epcot in the early evening via the International Gateway for Dinner at Rose & Crown - a tradition for Niles and I. Head back to the resort after dinner and watch Illuminations from the Resort or I might already be sleeping. Big Day next day!

Sunday February 23:
RACE DAY!
After the race and a nap, head to Magic Kingdom for dinner at Be Our Guest.

Monday February 24:
This day is predicted to have EMH for Epcot. So via International Gateway, head to Epcot in the a.m., early lunch at Le Cellier, then back to resort in afternoon, and back again in the evening for EMH. Probably just grab dinner in the World Showcase.

Tuesday February 25:
Head to Animal Kingdom - very excited because we got rained out both days in September. Lunch at Yak and Yeti, our favorite! Head to DHS via bus after lunch. After an evening at DHS, head back to the resort via the boat.

Wednesday February 26:
A big fun filled day at MK! Have lunch at BOG. Don't know yet for dinner.

Thursday February 27:
Head back to Animal Kingdom and after lunch, head to Epcot via the bus for dinner at Les Chefs de France and Illuminations

Friday February 28:
DHS is predicted to have EMH. So head to DHS in the a.m. via the boat, lunch at pizza planet, then a resort break. Back to DHS for dinner. Don't know where yet.

Saturday March 1st:
Spend the day at Resort and head to MK for predicted EMH. No dining decisions yet here.

Sunday March 2nd:
Final morning at MK. Breakfast at CRT. And head back to DC via MCO.

Of course, dining is speculated because I can't make ADR's yet. :)

So that's all I have for now!

Any advice and suggestions are great! I have never run a Disney half marathon before so any advice is great too!

Thanks for reading!!

Hey!!
I'm so excited for you guys, I didn't know you were planning another trip! You deserve a fun Disney vacation. Your plans sound great! You'll love BOG (have you been there yet? I'm blanking.) We were seated in the West Wing, and loved it. I didn't put in a seating request because I had no idea where we'd want to be, but I'd definitely request that room again. The detail was amazing!

I can't wait for you to go - your instagram & fb pics alone make me feel like I'm there too. I have zero advice on running, but that's awesome that you're doing the race. You will do great!

Thank you! Yeah, this is kind of a personal "HA!" And a big "you go girl" to myself! I'm really excited! Totally getting into running which I never thought would be possible! :)

Sounds like a blast! I remember the amazing photos you posted from your trip last year. I expect to see more great pics from you after this trip! :)

Thank you! I hope they have some great photographers along the race route. I want to make sure I capture this event! And i'll have my phone on me so snap some moments along the way. I think this means I need to get a pack! :) HA!

Thank you so much! Yes, a recent decision we confirmed in the last two weeks. I can't wait for packages to open up so I can book. :) No, I totally flaked on BOG in February. I didn't realize the long line I saw was for counter service. I'm not sure what I thought was happening but it didn't click. So I totally missed it. I hope to eat there twice this February - a CS and a TS. Which did you do? I see you are going again in October! YEAH! :)

The lines for CS are crazy! It was like, 10:15 the one morning and it was so long already. We had dinner, I made ADR's 180 +10 and that worked out. We still waited probably 30 mins for our table after we checked in, and then dinner itself from start to finish (appetizers & desserts included) took about 2 hours. K sat perfectly, which was lucky for us since it was a long meal for her. Beast was the first character she was nervous about. She smiled if I held her, but if I tried to get her to walk over to him, so ran back to me lol. We got a nice group picture though. I'm waiting for our disk to come, so I'll show it to you when I get it.

You'll love it there - the experience is a lot of fun! I can't wait to hear about how the race is, and see what kind of outfit you pick out! My friend ran it last year in a tutu & tiara - so cute! :)

We'll be there next October - it's a little over 500 days away. Who's counting? lol. I can't wait to book too, I really want to get a Royal Room. I can't afford a deluxe again this time around, but we love PO so I'm excited!

Yes! Have to get my outfit picked out! Niles suggested Belle since I have long brown hair. And I like it - going up against my inner beast. :) wait - you get to meet characters there? I didn't think it was a meet and greet. I can't wait to see your pics!!! EEEEEEE! so excited! :) HA! Who's counting! :) 500 days, that's nothing! Are you staying on property? We stayed in a Royal Room and loved it! Did you read my Trip Report from September - there are LOADS of pics! It was really nice! You will love it! :)

That is so exciting!!! I did Princess this year and it is amazing! My husband and I did Wine and Dine in 2012 and I loved it so much, that two weeks later I signed up for Princess. We are doing Wind and Dine this year as well as Goofy in 2014. I am also hoping to do the Glass Slipper Challenge in 2014. You are right, once you get that runner's high, you get addicted. Good luck to you in your training. You should check out a Jeff Galloway training plan. I use them, but I don't do the walk breaks, I just run the whole time. They are great plans.

Have fun training and keep us posted!

Beast walks around and waves a few times while you eat, but you don't get your picture with him until after you're done eating. He's in a separate room, and you exit the restaurant as soon as you get your picture. What's nice about that, is that there's no wait because people finish eating at different times. I don't know if it's done at lunch or just dinner.

Your trip report definitely inspired me to get the Royal Room! We've only stayed at POFQ, so I'm excited to try Riverside.

A Belle outfit will be so cute - go out after Halloween when everything is on sale. You'll be able to build something awesome. :)

Check out these running skirts! :)

So I'm thinking of getting the Minnie one and Belle. And yes, after Halloween would be great to get the rest of it! :)

Oh! I'm excited! I had no idea Beast was there! Does he sign autograph books or just a photo? I'm assuming you get it paid with dinner or do you need to buy it extra? If extra - free with photopass + right? EEK! So excited!

You will LOVE the Royal Rooms!!!! I can't wait to see your pics and hear all the details of this last trip! :)

It wasn't part of a photo package like CRT. There was just a Photopass photographer there, or they would take it with your camera. I had pre-purchased the disk so I just had them take the pictures. :)

Those skirts are SO cute! What a great idea for whoever invented those. I love the Minnie & Belle ones - I also love the Rapunzel & Ariel ones. If I ever become a runner, I know where to go for my running outfit!

Im jumping ahead without reading past your opening. My wife and I tried for a few years to have children.. know very well the shots and schedules. We finally came to the realization that it just wasn't going to happen. Doctors said the same.

I'm keeping this short not to derail your thread.. my apologies.

After much discussion about our options from there we decided to adopt. About 4 months from adopting our daughter my wife was pregnant. Skip ahead to 5 months after the adoption my wife gave birth to daughter no.2 :)

My wife thinks that removal of the stress of trying and not succeeding because of the adoption.. was it? Who knows but there are many reports of this happening.

Don't give up hope.

Now to read up on the rest

Thank you so much for the hope! :) It is always helpful to hear! I think our biggest frustration - our doctors all say there is absolutely no reason it is not happening. So....there is this added element to deal with. But we have already looked into adoption. After taking the summer off to not think about anything, we are going to do one more round of IVF (we already have some frost babies so a lot less shots to contend with) and then if that doesn't work - we are going to do our final round and proceed with adoption. IVF will be over by the end of the year one way or another. Hopefully b/c we have our great news but if not, we will proceed with adoption. :)

PS - I see the Lions helmet! I am from Troy!! Just north of Detroit!!! I lived there for almost my whole life!!! :)

Yes I'm a Lions fan.. still waiting for them to get things right lol. Good thing we have the Wings and Tigers :)

I grew up in Canton. After getting married we lived Westland and then moved to Superior Twp (between Canton & Ann Arbor).

Good luck with which ever way the path takes you, each outcome is wonderful.
