our first visit was ruined by this disgusting cleaning

Well, new member, maybe Katiebug 101's cousin's husband worked in the health and safety field for over 18 years according to his letter but admittedly sat there and watched for several minutes before he even started recording. If he was so concerned why didn't he say hey, "whatcha doin there. That's not cool." I would've. And now he is 'strongly considering reporting' the events. Really? So why is the alleged wife posting stuff here.....they've already called the news, etc. and knew the story was going to air, he video conferenced with them for an interview. Here, fishy, fishy, fishy. Take your 15 seconds and go. We have enough Disney depression as it is.

Go back and read some of my posts in this thread and you will see this was indeed a CM.

Oh, I definitely agree with you. Just trying to make a point but badly. Whoever spoke on behalf of TDO lied and none of the fairy sprinkle apologists here called them on it.

I absolutely understand that not everyone gives 100% every day. Totally agree. This is forgivable when it comes to not smiling all the time, maybe providing slow service, etc.. Not everyone is perfect and no one deserves to lose their job over imperfection. However, blatantly doing something that is clearly against sanitation practices, risks the health of others, and could get the restaurant shut down is very different.
How do you know she wasn't trained like that? How can you 100 percent say without certainty that she wasn't taught to clean the tables with the doodle bug in that manner by higher ups trying to save a quick buck on water and towels. But of course some jagweed gets a camera out trying to something out of this and she's the one responsible. And trust me when I say that if we were all allowed after hours and backstage with camera's suddenly a lot of things would seem unappealing, dangerous, and downright unsanitary. I am not defending this sort of thing, just tired of the "GASP NO WAY" attitude seen towards it when I know first hand it's far grosser in all sorts of places and people don't care cause they don't know.

Stop trying to intimidate. People do this stuff all the time and it's no different from things that other long time members have done as well.

I totally agree she could've been trained that way. Since a lot of management isn't on top of certain training aspects in some departments on property, it's easy to see how this could be true. They leave it to a trainer, to train another trainer, to train another trainer, to train a CM and leadership usually doesn't check the training process along the way. So I certainly believe practices can be taught wrong in those situations and have been in some areas. Again, management at fault here for not overseeing training.

Backstage is a whole other ballpark of nasty things going on and just about every CM has seen at least one thing.

Intimidate? Please. The person hasn't even been back.
And don't misunderstand, I am appalled that it happened. I stayed there in Nov. but it's happened before and will most likely happen again. It's how the viewer handled it that is really irritating. They were more out to embarrass the worker, i.e. Disney than to solve the immediate threat of uncleanliness. That's just wrong.

Not to extend this any further... but what makes you think the trays and plates don't get a similar treatment? :depressed:

It's gross to even think about, but with the volume of stuff they're reusing throughout the day, you can't guarantee that some didn't hit the floor and just got put on the clean pile anyway... .:hungover:

Oh I mean my plate stays on the tray and any food that falls off of the plate is not eaten. Isn't the food at quick service served on plates we toss? I'm blanking on that one.

Even if it is served on real plates, not much you can do. My mom used to cook in restaurants, and she said if the rest of the public knew what went on in most kitchens they wouldn't eat out. I figure I'm better off not knowing and being in ignorant bliss on that one.

I'm kinda blanking on it too. Some food comes in wrappers, other stuff on paper plates. Most of the quick service is paper plates but possibly not all. I'd imagine that the table service places are held to a bit of higher standard, but then again, who knows.... I used to serve at an Applebee's years ago... I'll back your mom up on, if you only knew...

Stayed last October at AoA, they use some kind of plate that needs to be washed, and real silverware.

We are older and don't have a car. Can't walk all over the place to eat breakfast. We are nearing 70, with asthma, and I have three ruptured discs. Not so easy to do. Why do you care if I cancel or not?

I asked because it shouldn't be a deal breaker. I didn't ask for a life story, just a simple question. Have you ever thought of doing like an Amazon Fresh/Garden Grocer type thing and getting some breakfast items delivered? Then you don't need to leave your room (depending on what you have for breakfast, of course). Whatever you choose to do is what you do. Hopefully you get the discs taken care of before you go and that isn't a problem.

My dad owned restaurants as I was growing up and I worked food service in high school and have never seen anyone act so nasty. I have seen this video pop up from the abc channel out of Orlando and Jacksonville tho so word is out there.

Why does it mattering to me matter to you?
Okay, now you're just being dumb. If you don't want people to interact with you and inquire about posts that you make, maybe you should stay off of freaking message boards. The original poster provided information that would obviously be of interest to members of this forum, and information which would obviously be disgusting to most if not everyone here, yet your first response was to point out that the orifginal poster just joined this forum? Great work.
