Hello there!

My girlfriend and I are getting married this Christmas (17th Dec 2011). I have tagged an extra surprise week onto the end of our honeymoon to visit WDW!!! (She has ALWAYS wanted to go to a Disney Park).

I think I have the WDW trip down to the following:

30th Dec - 2nd Jan, Wilderness Lodge (for a few Christmassy days)
2nd Jan - 7th Jan, Yacht Club (which includes DDP)

May questions are:
1. Are these good choices for a couple?
2. Will I still have time to reserve some signature meals
3. Are there any 'extras' I should try to make it super special, upgrades? certain rooms?
4. Finally any tips to make it a bit cheaper? the rooms are expensive.

I am saving like crazy to make all this happen and it will be our first proper holiday in... well.... ever!

Thanks to anyone who reads this. You good good people.

Wahooo!

Congrats!
I love the Christmas decorations at the WL...especially the huge tree in the lobby.
Try to reserve your meals ASAP.
Make sure you let WDW know that you will be celebrating a honeymoon.

Being Florida-grown, my Hubby and I have both been Disney- vacationers since we were kids, and we spent our honeymoon at WDW. First off, FABULOUS pick of resorts. IMO they are perfect for newlyweds.... WL at Christmas is THE BEST (though it is one of only a few resorts I have yet to actually stay at). I think YC is a great pick too... walking distance to both Epcot (specifically WS) and DHS (though most prefer to boat).

Definitely reserve your ADRs as soon as you can.... particularly for the time of year you are going they are already filling up quickly. Seeing as you will be staying at YC you should check out the menu for Yachtsmen Steakhouse for a Sig. meal. If you are wanting to do Signature "fine dining," then "cheaper" is going to be difficult to accomplish. Typically when we do a fancy dinner, we do a big, late breakfast and skip out on lunch to cut some costs.

:sohappy: Wecome to the boards and congrats on the upcoming nuptials! :sohappy:

Welcome to the boards and congratulations!!!

You have picked wonderful hotels to stay in for a honeymoon.

You still have some time to reserve Signature dining, but don't wait too much longer. You are within 180 days already, so you don't need reservation info to book ADRs. Go to http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/reservations/dining/
using any browser other than firefox.

If you want to save some money, share meals at the signature restaurants, don't order alcohol and share desserts. That will save quite a bit of money.

The first few days will still be crowded. Utilize a touringplan. Saving time does save money.

Welcome and what a wonderful surprise for your bride. I second this suggestion that you should use a touring plan early on because of the holiday crowds. You might check out the Unofficial Guide to WDW (B. Sehlinger) for great touring suggestions. Have a wonderful marriage!

Just in case you are using Mozilla: the online dining reservation site and Mozilla do not get along! I have to switch over to IE to access dining.

First off- welcome and congrats!!!

Secondly- we stayed at WL last December and really enjoyed it. The decorations were great and we were greeted by the huge tree each time we left our room as our room was over the lobby. There are a few standard view rooms over the lobby as well as woods view rooms that also offer a view of MK fireworks at night. We were just in a standard room, but lucked out with this. It might be worth an upgrade if you decide it's important. We also LOVED being able to catch the boat over to MK (and back as well)...beats the bus any day.

As for dining...certain signature meals should have openings and others should open up if you're persistent. i.e. the perfect time for Cali Grill might be tough to work- same with Le Cellier- and Narcoosee's can be tough later on for spots...but Citricos usually gets rave reviews and often has quite a few last minute openings.

As for cutting costs, while it's your honeymoon- you could always skip the rooms with better views...and as Mukta suggested, sharing meals is also helpful. Sadly- it's a pricey time of year. Most of my itty bitty $ saving tips involve kids - so I'm probably not much help in this dept.

Either way- sounds like your fiance is going to LOVE it!!! :sohappy:

Thanks again for the welcomes, congratulations and brilliant tips.
I've booked a meal (wahoo!) at the California Grill for when we arrive which should mean we are there to see the fireworks at MK. We'll then head into the park afterwards as it is open until 12pm.

Thanks again, London is not the most pleasant place to be right now.
