Orlando Becoming East Coast Headquarters for Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products

Yes, but, they famously didn’t give employees more time to adjust to the move. Also refused to comment when asked if the Desantis rift had any effect on this. could have just said no…

To follow up on this, Disney has apparently responded to that question to other outlets -

"When asked whether the relocation holdup was related to the DeSantis dispute, the Disney spokesperson said it was not."

I was actually hanging some wireless bridges at one our plants today. It was pretty hot but nothing a little break in the AC and a bottle of water can't fix.. I guess some people are just built a bit different? I came from Buffalo and have not been exposed to heat like this but it's coming up on a year since we moved so we've been through the worst of summer already last year and we are handling it better than a lot of locals.
Your body does acclimate to it some.

I find the problem is if the heat doesn’t break AT NIGHT…you’re miserable all day. Like 78-80 degrees at 3 am…
…you’re toast.

Anecdotal…a friend is there now that grew up in Texas…but has lived in Santa Barbara for a long time.

They’re struggling big time. Said it’s beyond brutal.

Of course…and Disney would NEVER lie 🤥

We've walked through many houses that were a joke. They were taking advantage of the market and tried selling way high. We still look at what's coming up for sale but it's definitely not a lot to pick from. As far as new construction? There's a lot of condos, even more apartments but new houses are really rare or verrrrrry overpriced.
I would bet real money (just kidding…crypto 🤪) that they have throughly overbuilt crap along the I-4 corridor since roughly 2012…just a hunch.

But that’s not the answer people want to hear, so the media will just ignore it and print garbage fake news articles which insinuate that it is the reason, but don’t actually cross the line and say that it is.

6% interest rates, highest inflation in the last 40 years, highest gas prices in the last 50 years, bitcoin and crypto plunging, stimulus and handouts are over, the war in Ukraine, coupled with Disney now delaying 2000 families moving to Central Florida until 2026 or perhaps even permanently canceling the move. All of this makes for probably the worst time in my lifetime to buy a house in Central Florida. If you would wait even six months, you will pay a lot less for a home

That’s the hardest part here also, 110 during the day doesn’t bother me very much but 95 at midnight is brutal. My first marathon I was doing all my long runs at 2am just to avoid the sun and the worst of the heat. It’s a dry heat though 😉.

I don’t think we’ll see the same 60% decline as 2007 but I won’t be surprised to see 10-20% declines over the next year. Horrible time to buy a first house but if you sold high and rebought high it’ll end up a wash.

Welcome to the new normal. For people in the construction industry it is a reality. $millions and millions in delays caused by this.

Personally I have large projects delayed over a year because they can't get building materials and building systems equipment delivered in a timely manner. When you're looking at 12-18 months to get elevators, Fire Alarms, lighting, HVAC Rooftop equipment, and chillers, you don't really have much of a choice.
At the beginning of last September, I ordered a new industrial A/C-Heater for my business because the furnace on the old heater was shot. I was told 2-4 weeks.

It was installed 3 months later at the beginning of December.

Until then, I kept adding more and more space heaters, electric and kerosene, to keep the place usable for business.

When we mention the very real labor shortage, wise guys shout, "just pay more!"

I wonder what will they shout regarding the supply problems??

Driving down it, anecdotal evidence would back this up with what can be seen in terms of apartments/condos.

Also of note is that except in the dead of night, it's impossible to traverse the section of 1-4 between Tampa and downtown Orlando without multiple traffic delays resulting in complete stops, usually with no sign of accident or other related cause once passed... Though certain areas like the exit/on-ramps for Hanes City/Davenport just a little southwest of Disney are ALWAYS one of the choke points.

Can also confirm that there have been major construction booms in that once rural area (Davenport in particular) over the last decade+ of apartments/condos that are still ongoing.

No such thing as “fake news”…don’t be the last person on the insane train, please??

They made a statement…it’s not subject to requirement of being of law or some kind of fundamental philosophical truth…so speciation is just that: speculation.

It’s to be expected.

So now the media is flocking to Jim Shull because he (someone 2+ years removed from Disney) is saying it is because of politics.

I’m not disputing Shull’s connections to imagineering, but does anyone realistically think that any imagineer who is a source for Jim can speak for TWDC and the state of Florida’s half BILLION dollar tax agreement? This entire decision and deal is way above anyone at WDI. It just sounds like an echo chamber of bitterness at WDI wanting something to be true that isn’t.

Pretty much where we are. We sold our house in NY for a pretty healthy profit. Upsized down here but are paying a tiny bit more for our mortgage due to the super low taxes. Pretty much a wash.

It’s okay, I’ll just teach my kid with all the not fake news on the internet 😂😂

“You won’t believe these five facts about giraffes! Number two will shock you!!”

😂😂
Well…I’m laughing for sure…

But I see the really danger of “no guiderails” for anyone…on anything.

The biggest benefit of a school is the kid is NOT fed 100% the same things they hear at home to me. 8,000,000,000 on the planet are going to say different things to those kids when they grow up than what mom and dad (or whoever) said when they were 9.
