We'll do the Winter Park TJs with a stop on the way at East End Market for lunch. A lovely family afternoon.

Forgot to add, we'll also get some staple stuff and baby stuff from Costco and Sams. Namely Chicken and Shrimp (our primary proteins) and my son's diapers from Costco, and my son's formula from Sam's (it's the cheapest place I've seen it. After a month, my Sam's membership has already been paid off from the lower price compared to literally anywhere else).
East end market is a gem!! We recently went there and discovered the bar upstairs.. Its such a tiny bar top but they do some really cool nice cocktails.

East End Market is also where the original Gideon’s Bakehouse is located that has much smaller lines than the Disney Springs location. There is still always a line, but smaller.

For the other comment about the Winter Park Trader Joe’s, this is also located a block away from the Winter Park Village Publix location that competes more with Wegmen’s with wine samplings, cooking school, expanded deli and prepared meals, and on-site Starbucks. This location was built this way to compete with Trader Joe’s and the nearby Whole Foods.

We adore that bar. We always pop in when in that side of town

Sounds similar to the Dr. Phillips Marketplace Publix, which was formerly a higher end Albertsons.

Yes it is definitely trying hard to be a Wegmans but lacks the huge hot food and salad bar section which is what I would get for lunch daily back home and never got tired of it.

This was rumored a few months ago. Idea was they'd move select divisions to Lake Nona. Keeping political stuff out of this, there are a lot of reasons from a business perspective that this would make sense.
Like it or not hundreds of companies are fleeing California due to politics or at least the governor who is sticking it to big businesses the state of Texas has gained hundreds of big corporations that are tired of being taxed out of business

It's not solely for taxes though, because then they'd just flee to Florida, and not Texas.

Texas has more to attract businesses than Florida. Florida just has the money savings; but Texas has a skilled workforce, more major universities, robust manufacturing, and major transit hubs, which are things that ultimately create value.

Nah..Dollar General is where it is at...

Anyways, this whole grocery store conversation is the silliest ever. Grocery snobs...only on the internet.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who finds it silly it came up as a reason not to move somewhere, I’ve always just gone to the grocery store closest to my house, whether that’s Albertsons or Smiths or Vonns never really mattered.

I’m as far from a chef as you can get though so as long as they have all the basics (eggs, milk, bread, soup, Mac n cheese, onions, peppers, ground beef, etc) covered I’m good.

Well, you should pay more attention. It's the most money people spend week to week typically in a household.. and you can find prices can vary 30+% quite easily on the same goods.

The very attitude you describe is exactly why grocers will put stores even in the same brand almost on top of each other and carpet bomb an area. They pray on the convenience angle, strangle out competitors and pump up the prices.

Then when people are talking better brands... the experience is not just your dry groceries, but commonly things like Hot Food, fresh prep'd meals, specialty foods, bakeries, seafood, etc.

If you are the type that is used to eating fresh meals most days, getting simplified prepped meals, eating nice affordable lunches, getting the specialty brands you like, etc... That is very much a 'regular' part of your routine that when you lose it, it's a big hit to your lifestyle. And thus, a factor (not THE factor, but one..) in the kind of area you want to live in.

Some people will buy 2-3 weeks of groceries at once and eat out... others will buy groceries for just 1-3 days at a time and eat a lot more fresh meals. It's as much a lifestyle choice as people choosing to live in a urban style of living vs suburban, etc.

This is also why North Carolina is growing significantly.

Doesn’t hurt that much of the south is stunningly beautiful with fairly nice weather.

My old neighbor moved to southeast Tennessee and some of the pictures he’s sent me are truly amazing.

I love Vegas but I’m so tired of brown, every city on my list of potential places to move are green and near water. Natural beauty is #1 on my list, cost of living and jobs being a distant #2.

Lots of people don’t move to Florida because they have Publix rather than Wegmans? Crap didn’t know. 😂

This whole conversation started because someone stated Florida didn’t have a quality grocery store. Which isn’t true.
Florida quality is on the eye of the beholder. If one tries to compare Publix to the superior Wegmans that is like day and night. In regards to WDW they actually should take a hint from Publix on cooking some finger licking fried chicken .
