In your personal oppinion, if you had to lean one way or the other, do you think the new Haunted Mansion queue helps or hurts the attraction?

Heading for the great escape.
Its the first step in the decline of civilization as we know it. Turkeys will be legless, dogs will turn cold and the French will opt to mash.

From the photos I've seen, I think it looks great and seems like a great addition to one of my favorite attractions!
Can't wait to see it in the flesh (or rotting flesh hehe) in a few weeks.

How different is it? Does someone have a picture to post? I was there in 2010 and we took pictures of the tombstones right before you walk into the doors. The tombstones are still there aren't they? Because that was the best part of the line, kind of gave some nice theming to the place

I know....holy thread bump, but now that the new extended queue at Haunted Mansion has been open for over a year, I wanted to see what opinions people who have experienced the queue have. What are cast members hearing from guests in the parks? I still haven not seen it in person myself. Just curious.

Thanks,

I usually try to avoid the complain train and keep an open mind with new changes. But this really broke my heart when we saw it first-hand last year. Too much noise and foolishness for the theme of this attraction. There's actually a large tomb which has bubbles coming out of it. Bubbles?! This is the Haunted Mansion for crying out loud! Then you have a voice calling for people to help her finish the rhymes of a poem.

Like I said, I'm not a Disney traditionalist and am very open to changes. But this was taking away the core feel and ambience of the attraction and turning it into a detailed McDonald's Playland (imo). Yes, the detail was cute & clever, but to us seemed like a childish step back in the wrong direction. The previous queue with the calm wooded graveyard and howling dog fit this ride perfectly as a queue. What it's been turned into is a noisy interactive mess.

End rant.

I'm not a fan of it, but I don't hate it. I just do not like the cartoonish sounds and how new and temporary it seems. It looks like they literally just plopped random tombstones in random spots and said, "Wow! A Graveyard!"

That being said, I do enjoy the interactive parts, I just wish they pulled it off better.

I think it's done quite well....and appreciate the option to walk by and go right in....we played in it 3 times last trip and opted out a few to later go through again....noticing more details....doesn't feel temporary to me and much improved on having only gravestones before....relieved that Leota is still blinking, that was my biggest concern before redo that we would loose that special effect. Really looking forward to seeing new BTM queue!!!:sohappy:

I'm not really a fan, but am glad it is there. People go that way to see that stuff and I can go the quicker way. :)

I like it and especially like the fact that you can bypass it if you want to. Sometimes when there isn't any line for the haunted mansion I bypass the queue attractions and go right to the front door of the ride

I like it overall but I think it could've been done better; too many silly things in it for my taste. I know the HM itself has lighter/sillier scenes but it still maintains the spooks throughout. The graveyard doesn't quite hit the same atmosphere on the head... which is strange because it's a graveyard. The stretching room sets the atmospheric table far better. I was hoping the graveyard would be another spooky/fun lead in but it kind of misses the mark in the spooky department.

That said, I'll take it over having nothing as I enjoy a good amount of what they put in there and it can always be skipped... it's just not perfect IMO.

Its a mix bag for me, but I did vote against it in this poll.

I like some of the additions, like the much expanded graveyard going back into the woods, the statue busts...

However, I sort of don't like the organ, books, and instrument wall, and I definitely HATE the poetess and bathtub ghost. The books you push in, organs, and instrument wall aren't as intrusive, but they are just noisemakers for kids and it is off-putting to the foreboding tone the first half of the attraction is supposed to have. The poetess and bathtub are actually audible and over-the-top goofy and corny. At the very least, I wish these were removed.
