Right now it’s tracking to have the 18th best Pixar opening, out of 21, at $45 million. Beating out Good Dinosaur by a little under 6 million. Onwards projected opening is closer to the much more successful Ratatouille movie but the media doesn’t seem to be leaning that way. At least they’ll probably be able to say that it’s the #1 movie!

Sounds like it’s a good thing they’ve got the character meet and greets all lined up then. 🙄
Maybe the meet and greets are an act of desperation to try and drum up as much additional interest as they can.

I mean if you have your picture taken with someone, I imagine you’re going to want to see the movie they’re staring in? 🤷‍♀️

Sometimes that works, but usually it doesn't. Actually, almost always it doesn't.

I made fun of John Lassetter as much as the next guy. Well, maybe I made more fun of his drunken woman-chasing ways as the next guy. But...

This is the first Pixar movie that hasn't had Mr. Lassetter at the helm throughout its production. Could it be that 2020's Pixar without John Lassetter is like 1970's Walt Disney Productions without Walt Disney?

Is Onward the Pixar version of Herbie Goes Bananas? (With apologies to Miss Leachman, Mr. Korman, and Volkswagen)

I do too actually, but then I was always a sucker for Cloris Leachman ever since her stint as Phyllis Lindstrom on the Mary Tyler Moore Show.

But we must realize that you and I are in the minority on this one.
Cloris Leachman was superb in The Last Picture Show. I’ve been a fan since the Phyllis days as well. I like the moment in The North Avenue Irregulars car chase when her newly manicured finger nails get broken and she fumes at the driver that caused it.

PS. Auto-correct tried to name her Florid Leachman. How dare it!

Yeah, I know, who would think that would even resonate or have anything to do with the Billion dollar new land they just built on both coasts after years of hype that is dedicated to the mega popular IP the characters are based in?

But have you seen this?!? It's a Social Club AP and his twink boyfriend with piled up blue hair, and they hang out in suburban strip malls with funny names! (Swamp Gas! Get it? How do they come up with this stuff?!?)

Book your flights to LAX now lady, because you are going to be able to have your picture taken with them in front of a 10 foot wide plywood backdrop in DCA's Hollywood Backlot Studios!!! SYNERGY!

I know you like to talk in hyperbole a lot on here, and I usually enjoy it, but this is a little too much.

Why don't you actually learn the plot of the movie before you actually start throwing around terms like "twink boyfriend". If you'd actually bothered to educate yourself about the plot of the movie you'd know these two characters are brothers, as in from the same mother and father. Neither of which are gay or are together, they are brothers in the biological sense. But no you rather throw around slang, that while I have no issue with, is in no way accurate about the two characters in which you speak. You passed judgement on their look and made an assumption rather than actually formed an opinion based on facts.

I'm not particularly fond of how characters are introduced into the parks before their introduction into whatever medium they will be released to. But I at least educate myself on said characters before I pass judgement.

Let's be a bit more classy shall we.

They're brothers?!? Biological brothers??? Well, that throws a monkey wrench into my plotline, doesn't it?

Sweetie, I've been gay for many decades and my gaydar was honed in the 1960's when it was literally illegal to be me and I could have been thrown in jail for hitting on the wrong guy, so I know a twink boyfriend when I see one. But if Pixar says these two guys are brothers, then so be it.

To be honest, I'm still seeing more Joanne Worley than twink even after knowing the brother angle, but my first instinct said "twink". And twink is not a derogatory term in the gay community any more than "bear" or "otter" or... well, I'm not going to keep listing things because there are children present, as I'm pretty darn classy. ;)

Hey gang, these guys are brothers! For real!

So you’re saying... twinks cannot have brothers?

Yes, I'm well aware of your status in the gay community, as you've mentioned it many times here. Also I don't have any issue with the term twink, I'm well aware of it having lived in the Bay Area my whole life. Its just the assumption on your part that I have an issue with. I never once got a gay vibe from that picture, so maybe your gaydar is in need of some maintenance.

And if Disney wants to make a story about Twinks and add those characters into the parks, then so be it. I would think you would be happy to have more representation for the younger generation of gay men out there. But hey you stay classy....

I could see how one might come to an assumption about the orientation of these characters based on Disney's provided photo along with all the publicity about the film featuring their first, openly gay character (who is a woman). But having seen the trailers first, I never did come to that conclusion myself.

The trailers did a fine job of sending the message they needed to (getting the point across that these are brothers). But the image and positioning Disney chose.. (+marketing of first openly gay character) well, I could see how that might send some mixed signals, especially if folks haven't seen the trailers yet. Not that I'm encouraging jumping to conclusions or judging based on appearance. Just that we are all human and without full context, tend to have the need to fill in the gaps we don't know or fully understand yet.
