Ok I am going next month and the bf and I are on a really tight budget
I want to have one really nice,excellent, romantic, memorable meal.
I am more inclined towards the World Showcase restaurants, but don't let that sway your suggestions.

You want a crowded and loud restaurant that, if you're lucky you may be able to see Wishes from your table - California Grill.

We've done both, several times. There is no comparison when considering a restaurant for romantic atmosphere. Go to Narcoosee's at the Grand Floridian. Make a reservation between 8:00 - 8:30 and you'll even be able to watch the Electric Water Pageant float by the windows...

While World Showcase restaurants are nice, with the exception of Bistro de Paris, they are a little on the busy side and not as romantic as I would like. My favorite for very special occasions is V&A's, but that can't be considered in a budget discussion.

We have always considered Artist Point a very special location and a great meal. I would always recommend it!

As for Cali Grill or Narcoossee's for wishes....I will offer a word of caution. It's very easy to have the timing off on this, so expecting a special meal and getting to see wishes is difficult. California Grill only has one side with windows, 2/3 of the restaurant can't even see the window area. You can always break and go to the rooftop viewing area, but you are interrupting a dinner, and depending....it could diminish your meal.

Since you're saying romantic I assume you mean evening. Chefs de France is my favourite in WS. I've never tried this - but given the French proclivity for romance - I'm wondering if you whispered to the maitre d' that you wanted a romantic evening if he may not try to give you a quieter table. Most of the tables for two are along the windows, and there's a small side room that's a bit quieter.

They also have a French menu for $29.95 that includes French onion soup, creme brulee and an entree.

As for the hotels, for a more romantic ambiance I would go for Citricos or Jiko, but not Artist Point. Of course, you're blowing the budget at any of them.

This could be potentially disastrous, but is it possible to get some good take-out and have an impromptu picnic on the beach at the Poly or GF and watch Wishes? Sounds romantic, but I have no idea if it would work.

I would also say cali grill during wishes but if it's busy in the parks you might find it less romantic due to the number of people that are also eating there at this time.

My Wife always likes the atmosphere in the restaurant in the Mexico pavilion (I forget the name right now)

Artists Point is always nice - especially if you arrive or leave by boat.

Some say the Rose and Crown during IllumiNations is romantic too but I don't really see it myself.

Whilst not as romantic, I had wonderful meals at Coral Reef and LeCellier which felt very intimate despite the number of people eating.

Finally, and this isn't for everyone, I prefer a good fun meal like Hoop Dee Doo over a traditionally romantic meal - laughter is the music of the sole after all!

Wherever you go try to eat later as there will be fewer kids and the twilight / nighttime is always more romantic than the heat of the 5.00pm sun.

Thanks everyone, I'm trying to avoid Jiko's now that I've seen some of the spices they use. Cali grill may be an option. I love the looks of the menu at artist point but the price is crazy. It says 50pp for dinner. We are no way able to do that.:shrug:
I didnt consider france til now and that looks like it has potential.

And tell me..I've heard bad reviews of the restaurant in Mexico, but I love the ambience as I've been in there before for the ride on the rivers of time.:veryconfu

For Artist Point, you may have looked at a price fix meal at $50.... (although appetizer, entree and desert ala carte will exceed that)
Check out the full menu either here or at allearsnet...individual entree's are less than California Grill, or Narcoossee's...about the same as Citrico's.

The food in San Angel Inn is good, the ambiance is very nice...the biggest issue I would say is that it is very close quarters. Depending on who your neighbors are, you could get bumped a bit.

We enjoy Chef's de France whenever we dine there.

With budget in mind, your first guess at an Epcot restaurant is probably best as it will be much less than the hotel restaurants we've suggested.

With only a month to go, you might have difficulties getting exactly what you want, so when you call for reservations, be sure to have some alternatives in mind.

So I made some of our dining reservations today!

Got the san angel inn for dinner one night, nicely timed so that when dinner is over we will be able to see illuminations!

Another day got Teppan Edo for lunch since we both love Japanese food!:slurp:

Lecellier was booked solid for LUNCH and DINNER the whole time we will be at WDW

She said that place is booked out 180days in advance, well we only booked our trip last week so...:brick:

Whats everyones opinions on these restaurants?

I haven't been to either but my cousin had a very nice lunch in Mexico. We've been wanting to try it, but have to wait until the kids can eat a little more variety and can sit "nicely" while we eat.

Sounds like dinner will be nice for you! I am a fan of San Angel Inn, but I can eat any type, style- or lack there of- of Mexican food. But, my family and I always make a trip to San Angel each year (its a tradition for us- like most of the other restaurants we visit).

Japanese sounds excellent to me as well, I've never had a really bad experience with any Disney food in my 15+ trips I've made (and we usually eat sit down every meal). Hope you and your boyfriend have an awesome trip. My boyfriend went with me and a couple of my friends for Spring Break one year--we are now planning a trip for the just the two of us! I can't think of a more fun, yet romantic place to be!

San Angel is not your typical cookie cutter Mexican restaurant and the entres there fall along more traditional lines. This can either be a blessing or a curse. If you are expecting the typical burritos, tacos and chimichangas you will not find them there. You will however find dishes such as Filete Motuleno and Pescado a la Ranchera that are simply incredible. One other note on this restaurant. It is not outside and offers no view of Illuminations. If your dinner ends at 8:45 and Illuminations is at 9:00 you could find it quite difficult to find a good viewing spot. If you want a restaurant that will get you a place to view illuminations from I would highly recommend The Rose and Crown in england.

The food is by no means bad but if tempanyaki is what you seek there are better, less expensive options just off property.

Thanks for the suggestions but I have made my SAI reservation at a time that it will be well over by the time illuminations happens outside.
I've been before, just never ate there before. I have a restaurant locally that serves things similar to SAI, so i'm sure we will be fine.

Good to hear. You would be surprised at how many people see pictures of SAI and think that it is outside and offers a view of the fireworks. I avoided the place for years assuming that it was just a fancy Taco Bell and went there only on the recommendation of a friend. I was very pleased with the food there but I can how people that were expecting a fancy Taco Bell would be disappointed.

Just a tip because you said your on a budget... In Epcot, outside of Morocco, there is a great place to eat called Tangierine Cafe. Both my wife and I agree it's easily one of the best deals in WDW. Plus, if you eat a meal there, your only a short walk away from the bakery in France.
