Online check in question

Hi everyone,

I have never done online check in before. I'm a analog person :) (pen and paper kind of girl) but I thought I would give it a whirl this trip.

I just went to start the process and there is a section for room request. It says you can make up to 2. However, I don't get any options to write in any or choose any.

Is this a glitch with the webpage right now or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

I have yet to be able to type anything into those fields. Requests should be made by calling the reservation line and not during on line check in.

I would call to be certain, but then again when I entered my request it said that they wouldn't be able to accommodate buuuuut, low and behold when we got there we got just what I wanted!! and our room was ready a little after 11am!!

I just did it and was able to select options, but then it gave me a message saying it couldn't register my requests. So I called. I think it's a way to reduce the number of requests they get! Hope you get what you wanted anyway, have fun!

Thanks for the info! It still won't let me add it in but I have called and will call again the day before we leave.

Let me know how you like the online check in! I've never done it either - I'm much like you with being a pen & paper girl. I'm thinking about trying it for November. I so love talking to the CM's at check in, but our last few check-ins have been long waits so I might want to give this a try.

i did it tonight. nothing to it, really. enter a few things and a credit card number... then skip the line at the hotel. as for the requests, there's no write-in. just check a max of 2 boxes.

I've never done online check in. What are the advantages and any disadvantages of online vs standing in line at the resort?
You go to a separate line than others..they already have your credit card and room request from doing online checkin and your package is all set to go..it is a lot quicker especially if you are coming in around checkin time.

I've done a bunch of check-ins since they started this online thing. It can go both ways. You might be in a shorter (maybe much shorter!) line. You might wait longer.

One time, there was nobody at the regular counter. The online one had a person at the counter and two waiting. I went to the regular counter and explained that I had a terrible headache (very true) and was it possible to check in here instead of over there. Oh, sure. No problem.

But then they had to walk over to that guy to get my crap. It was still quicker than the online line, but not as quick as if I'd just shown up.

But one time I waited 30 minutes and would have waited about 10 in the online line.

It's a toss up.

I don't make room requests and can't help with that.

Just one point I haven't heard anyone else mention. I did online checkin for the first time this year and as requested I entered my cc number. When we arrived at the hotel there was no line for online checkin and off we went, all good.

On our last evening however I decided to go and check the items charged to our room, being a bit OCD about credit cards. We had paid for almost everything as we went along and I knew we owed only $15 for drinks but the bill was $55! To cut a long story short, and with a great deal of help from the CM on the desk at WL, it transpired that 2 CS meals, both from AK, had been charged for instead of credits taken from our dining plan. We had been discussing the DDP with the CM at one of the places so I know we'd told her that was how we were paying.

This was a little scary, imagine what could happen! I had visions of cc bills for £100s arriving a few weeks after we arrived home in UK.

This was actually the fault of your server and not online check in. You would also be asked for a CC number when doing regular check in as well. It is always a good idea to check your bill before leaving especially when on the dining plan. While this mistake does not happen to every guest, it is an easy mistake for the CM to make.

My DS had to check me into my hotel for his discount so I couldn't try online, however at the Coronado this Spring, our old fashion check in had nobody in our lane, walked right up to the CM and we were on our way in about 5 minutes. The online check in lane was about six deep. So its benefits seem to vary.
