Online check in question

Hi everyone,

I have never done online check in before. I'm a analog person :) (pen and paper kind of girl) but I thought I would give it a whirl this trip.

I just went to start the process and there is a section for room request. It says you can make up to 2. However, I don't get any options to write in any or choose any.

Is this a glitch with the webpage right now or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

Just one point I haven't heard anyone else mention. I did online checkin for the first time this year and as requested I entered my cc number. When we arrived at the hotel there was no line for online checkin and off we went, all good.

On our last evening however I decided to go and check the items charged to our room, being a bit OCD about credit cards. We had paid for almost everything as we went along and I knew we owed only $15 for drinks but the bill was $55! To cut a long story short, and with a great deal of help from the CM on the desk at WL, it transpired that 2 CS meals, both from AK, had been charged for instead of credits taken from our dining plan. We had been discussing the DDP with the CM at one of the places so I know we'd told her that was how we were paying.

This was a little scary, imagine what could happen! I had visions of cc bills for £100s arriving a few weeks after we arrived home in UK.

And this also happened to me this year! Our meal at Mexico, the Inn, instead of just charging my tip and drinks to my debit card they charged over $125.00 to my debit card and nothing to my dining plan. Yes they did fix it however it took 5 days before the credit appeared on my debit card.

My DS had to check me into my hotel for his discount so I couldn't try online, however at the Coronado this Spring, our old fashion check in had nobody in our lane, walked right up to the CM and we were on our way in about 5 minutes. The online check in lane was about six deep. So its benefits seem to vary.
It can be a bit of luck of the draw. The monkey wrench that I have seen thrown into on-line check in the most are people that use it that shouldn't be. If it is your first time at WDW or you haven't been in years, on-line check in is not for you. You need to be able to grab your folder and know what everything inside it is and how it works. All it takes is one person to start with "Where are the park tickets? All I have are my room keys." to back up the line to Terre Haute.

Let me know how you like the online check in! I've never done it either - I'm much like you with being a pen & paper girl. I'm thinking about trying it for November. I so love talking to the CM's at check in, but our last few check-ins have been long waits so I might want to give this a try.

So far - i'm not impressed. I don't know what I was expecting but more then just a confirmation email that I checked in online. Nothing really happened. I guess I will find out when I arrive at the resort! I will keep you posted and tell you if it is worth it. Like you, I love talking to the cast members. But I thought I would give this a try. :)

LOL..You are like me and like having another box to check..online check in does that. I am debating using it for POFQ.. I like it for the fact they will know how early we will be there, but I need a key only to each room made also.. I dont want to hold up the Online line..but I also don't want to not use the online check in..lol

Online check in's primary purpose is to speed up the check in process. It can also increase the chances of your room being ready before 3:00 if you indicate an early arrival time. It does absolutely, positively nothing else past those two things.

I have checked in online but it is through the DVC website and it automatically knows the room. I do know that it was great to do it online do don't give up hope. When we arrived out keys where already made and they had everything in a little folder ready for us. I think it took us less than 2 minutes to get our stuff and go up to our room. Hope it works out for you!
