1990: Disneyland Resort Oceania
australia-disney0616.jpg

Set just outside of Sydney, Disneyland Resort Oceania brings the magic of Disney closer to Oceania. Opening with four, rich lands; those being Mickeyville, Adventure Isle, a Yukon-set Frontierland, Fantasyland with the Beast’s Castle, and Discoveryland, with all of them having their own original attractions. Six themed on-site hotels, a Downton Disney area called Disney Harbor; modeled after old Sydney harbor in a Mictorian flare, and a water park themed around the world of dinosaurs would make up the rest of the resort.
1998: Journey into Imagination Refurb
Journey Into Imagination is a timeless attraction, only being dated due to the aging effects and an update in OSHA safety standards. The attraction would get the latest in AA figures, lighting, screens, and other special effects, while the Imageworks would be remodeled to follow the latest safety guidelines. An interactive queue for the ride would also be set up.
1999: Disney's Enchantorium
The Enchantorium is a Downtown Disney exclusive, providing guests experiences to Disney like never before! Five floors would present with Thunder Mesa; complete with a Western River Expedition VR experience and Lil’ Thunder Mountain mini coaster; Yen Sid’s Castle; a Fantasy themed floor home to experiences such as Secrets of the Haunted Mansion, Quest for the Unicorn's Grotto, and A Walk through Wonderland; walk through makes themed to Gracey Manor, the scrapped Animal Kingdom attraction, and the topsy turvy Wonderland respectively; as well as an explorable workshop where Yen Sid writes his stories; True Life Adventure; a floor themed to Adventureland and would include Jungle Cruise themed go-karts, Discovery Heights; the science fiction floor with a steampunk theme and observatory to go with the exhibits and attractions, and the Toy Box; themed around toys from classic plush Mickeys to the gang from Toy Story. The exterior of the building would be remodeled from a simple box to an elegant brick structure with a domed glass roof.

Prompt 1:

Disneyland Korea
C7788E8D-237E-4C3F-AEAB-3FF0C9800FD4.jpeg
After Disney looked to adding a European resort with DLP in the 1990s, they wanted to add another resort in a big Asian market. Opening in 2002 (though postponed to 2005 for some reason), Disneyland Korea in Seoul featured a Disneyland Park (though excluding Frontierland), and a downtown Disney, as well as hotels. The resort would get another theme park in 2023 with Korea DisneySea later on.

Prompt 2:
Journey into Imagination with Dreamfinder
46F5EF3A-7D9D-4D0A-824D-B90AB52884A8.jpeg

Coming soon to Epcot in 1997 is a new refurb on a classic attraction. After the maligned Journey into Your Imagination (screw you Eisner), Disney imagineers decided to go back to basics. They kept the ride basically the same, but brought back Dreamfinder and Figment because they were notoriously absent.

Prompt 3:

DisneyDome
A9F53B0D-0F2A-4665-9B9D-0524636308AC.jpeg

Replacing DisneyQuest at the start of the new millennium will be a more upscale, immersive, interactive Disney experience. There are multiple floors of fun, each with their own attractions. The first floor features the gift shop, the second floor has Mickey and friends experiences, the third floor has Pixar attractions, the fourth floor has Muppet attractions (later Star Wars experiences from 2014 onwards), meanwhile the fifth and top floor has the restaurant.

1990 - Propose the next international Disney Resort location (after Disneyland Paris)
Dubai.jpg

Disneyland Paris had a bumpy start due to its clashing with French culture as well as over-building the number of hotels. Disneyland Dubai (United Arab Emirates) was selected for the next international Disney Resort (opening around 2005; picture above is from 2003) due to Disney’s desire to build a 1-day park in a quickly-developing (and high income) area that still had a significant amount of land. Lessons learned from Disneyland Paris will allow Disney to slowly build the resort out over time and to avoid cultural clashes (e.g. there will be no pork or alcohol in the resort).

1998 - Propose a refurbishment for Journey into Imagination
BabyFigment.jpg

The only thing that is more of a fan favorite than Figment is Baby Figment (see, for example Grogu in The Mandalorian), who sings new lyrics to “Imagination”! In “Journey Back into Imagination,” Dreamfinder recalls how he first started using his imagination for good as a child. New special effects (especially in lighting) immerse the guests in the playtime, art, and problem solving of the child Dreamfinder, the Baby Figment, and their friend Harmony.

1999 - Design a replacement for DisneyQuest
laser.jpeg

Pixar Playhouse brings to life the digital world of the beloved Pixar movies. Virtual reality, interactive video games (like A Bug’s Life Ants vs. Grasshoppers Harvest Battle), and Buzz Lightyear laser tag will keep kids and kids-at-heart entertained for hours.

1. Sydney is a natural choice for a new resort complex - well done in that regard, and the theme you went for is very creative!

2. Quality refurb here, especially taking advantage of the imageworks as that was one of the best components of the original pavilion.

3. I really like this concept - it adds some elegance to Downtown Disney with some old fashioned imagineering - i think it would work quite well!

1. I like the direction you went with an Asian market, in particular Seoul as that would bring in a large population to attract guests to the resort.

2. Quality refurb - similar in spirit to the original which was one of the best original EPCOT attractions and thus it makes sense to stay true to it.

3. I like the use of IP in this, I think it would bring in a more family friendly atmosphere (the west side of DTD particularly at night can not be at some times) so great job here.

1. Interesting concept to go with an already used plot but a second park for that resort in DisneySea was the direction that Disney went in during the late 90s. So solid realism.

2. Goofy would be an interesting transition from Figment as it does something different with the ride though it could make it a bit too comical

3. SEGA World would be quite the unique placement in DTD. It would lend to a more kid friendly atmosphere and could change the path of DTD for the years to come.

1. Dubai is a bold choice and one that probably would fit best in the timeline you outlined with an opening in the 2000s. It will be hot though!

2. I love this concept and one that I think could bring such joy and newfound enthusiasm to the attraction.

3. This is more of an obvious choice given the timeframe but the broadness of the Pixar concept could lead to more characters being added over time.
