Revenge on Lightyear for being steamrolled by Minions. They had already lost lot of money betting on Lightyear's success, so this was the final nail in the coffin for them.
I’d imagine they would be okay with the steamroll given only Incredibles 2 out grossed the original Minions 😉

Although they may be upset that they didnt make the marketing budget back so perhaps then.

Well, I did say that Minions leaving Lightyear in the dust was what made the villains take their frustrations out on Buzz. Watching the box office numbers already did put a sour taste in the league members' mouths, so seeing Gru; being from a much younger franchise than Toy Story; break box office records was the ultimate embarrassment for the bettors.

Yep, but that's before Disney began it's plummet thanks to their wokeness.
Agree to disagree on that as well on Disney and their start to being what many claim is a recent surge of “wokeness”. However that debate has and is often turned very political and ugly so if anyone wants to discuss any of that further we can set up a PM to avoid any derailment of the competition.

Anyways we’re at the halfish way point for the competition with five days left for all to submit projects! Good luck everybody :D

No prob, I'm cool with not discussing it. It is a real hot button topic that sometimes derails threads. Like Politics and Religion.

Finale Challenge 1 (Beach Bonfire): Mickey's Splashdance Party
MC00MjM4LmpwZWc.jpeg

Based on the song from the 1980s record album "Mickey Mouse Splashdance", join Mickey and friends at Typhoon Lagoon for a lively splashdancing beach party where "everybody gets wet"! Stomp through puddles, crash into the sea, dunk your head in the bubbles, anything as long as it's wet!

BONUS: I've been listening to a lot of songs lately, thanks in part to the (re)discovery, via Archive.org, of various Disney songs on "DTV", a series of MTV-style music videos on the old-school Disney Channel, but one song that sticks out in that regard is Pablo Cruise's "Whatcha Gonna Do When She Says Goodbye" (on "DTV", it is set to footage of Pluto cartoons in which the dog tries to woo his onetime crush, a female dachshund named Dinah):

Whip out those coolers imagineers as our fifth challenge is about to melt in at the One Sentence Competition: Summer Fun! For this challenge you're all tasked with thinking of the popsicle-bilities by creating your very own bluesky attraction. The only limitation is of course a maximum of two sentences and the one image. For this challenge the player who receives first place will earn three points instead of two; second, third, and our honorable mention will be earning two points instead.

-Challenge-
Design a new bluesky attraction for any theme park.

-Rules-
- You may use between 1 to 2 sentences and up to 1 image.
- If you breach any of these rules your project will be disqualified, and will not be counted for rankings nor will it receive a review from me.
- The deadline is Saturday, July 9th at 10:00 PM EST.

-Tips-
K.I.S.S. – Keep it simple, silly. Try not to complicate or overthink things too much. It’s a simple, casual competition – there are no eliminations. Propose as you please, let your imagination soar!

-Judging Criteria-
Is it creative?
Is it (generally) realistic?
Does it fit thematically/visually?

Good luck everyone! If you have questions, please feel free to ask! Enjoy!

Make-up test #1 (challenge #5)

Dagobah experience

In the model of the classic dark boat rides, tour the foggy bog where Yoda took refuge and Luke trained to be a Jedi, passing through scenes like Luke in a handstand trying to raise the trunks off the ground, with Artoo nearby.

The culmination is passing through the Cave of Evil and seeing the reflection of your own face in a Vader helmet (a la the end of Haunted Mansion effect) and then immediately hitting a drop with a little splash, finding yourself having to concentrate to help Yoda lift the giant X-Wing from the muck - because someone on the attraction is a real Jedi!

Make-up test #2, challenge #8

Remy’s Hide & Squeak part 2 on the high seas!

Continue chasing Remy (and other characters from Ratatouille) much like at Epcot, and if you’re cruising right after visiting WDW and have already purchased a map on land, you may exchange it for a free one at sea.

The whole family is incentivized to participate and pick up their prizes at - where else - Remy’s, and one lucky pair of parents will win dinner at Remy’s during this or their next sailing.

LGB-Tea Dance at Typhoon Lagoon

Disney continues to embrace the community with their version of a classic Sunday Tea Dance at Typhoon lagoon (for everyone) featuring local and well-known DJs like Robbie Leslie of Studio 54, appearances by classic (shirtless with red shorts) Mickey Mouse, and of course - drag queens and oversized fans.

Sunday Tea, as always, starts early (6PM) and runs through iconic, anthemic, uplifting dance music decade by decade - starting with disco and ending with the latest bangers.

Bonus: song of the summer: Latto - Big Energy (Remix featuring Mariah Carey.)

Herbie Goes Bananas by Dole

0C5AE133-FFFD-4273-A0EF-6C161C119CC8.jpeg

With a real Herbie car “crashed” into a banana tree marking the entrance to this new Polynesian Resort hot spot, enjoy hot breakfast, savory lunches, and special desserts featuring nature’s perfect food: the banana.

From banana pancakes to Insta-worthy oversized peanut butter & banana sandwiches (with or without candied bacon) to banana milkshakes, chocolate dipped banana snacks, plantains, banana Mickey waffle ice cream sandwiches (😮) and of course, the banana Dole whip, there’s something for everyone at any time of day.

Kingdoms of the World

A worthy successor to Rivers of Light and Illuminations, this show begins in the stadium with lush music and water projections of sea life until a multi-level structure that had been collapsed below the surface rises to become a huge volcano, which erupts and continues to receive projections (like a much larger version of the globe from RoE.)

532E4CA9-8411-4B0E-818F-B8E0B3D0F837.jpeg

As the volcano cools, it turns green with foliage and the focus turns to birds and mountain animals while the structure starts to re-collapse (gradually flattening level by level from the top down) becoming a jungle, a desert, a grassland, and finally the Arctic - featuring appropriate habitats and their inhabitants along the way, and ending with a drone show of stars (rather than fireworks) as we are back to sea projections below.

Tobago DVC at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

Instead of buying a timeshare in the Caribbean on your honeymoon (so cliché) invest in DVC at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort - steps from the Disney Skyliner and Topolino’s at the Riviera!

Some of the buildings in the Trinidad area of CBR have been refurbished into Tobago DVC rooms (including some new plussed pirate suites) and the nearby pool, quick-service area, and in-resort transportation have been beefed up to keep up.
