My middle school field trip predated DisneyQuest by 10 years. We did the utilidoors and a separate trip to the protected wetland areas around WDW. I think we also did KSC that trip.I went there on my 8th grade field trip to WDW, and the concept was better than the execution.
In DisneyQuest, there was a "raft ride" that used screens, although there was no real water involved. It was called Virtual Jungle Cruise, I think.I've never been to DisneyQuest.

CHALLENGE 1
VOLCANO BAYT
Fellow Imagineers, now that you had time to experiment in Disney Springs, the Clash of Titans begins! As you might have guessed our first challenge will take us to Volcano Bat (all rights reserved by @D Hindley ), I mean Volcano Bay, Universal's newest park and Third Gate, as some (mistakenly) call it.
-Background Information-
Volcano Bay is the latest addition to Universal Studios Resort, as it opened in 2017, and overall it's highly themed experience, that offers the perfect balance between thrill and relaxation. After all, Universal's Slogan for Volcano Bay is Live The Carefree Island Life. It also uses the TapuTapu, a device that you'll use it to ride most of the attractions, activate interactive surprises, open rental lockers, make cash-free payments and more.
-Challenge-
For the first challenge, Universal is looking to create the most immersive and better themed Water Park Attraction, it can be a new build or an overlay, the most important thing is that it must immerse guests into an experience that ties nicely to the park's already existing backstory!
-Bonus-
As a Bonus, Disney has assigned you the task to incorporate a Disney IP in either of their Water Theme Parks, they want to be able to sell a lot of merchandise out of it.
-Rules-
You may use between 1 and 3 sentences and up to 1 image. For the bonus you may use 1 sentence. The deadline is Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 10:59 PM EST. Critiques will come shortly after, with Challenge 2 being posted at Sunday, July 1st, 2018 at 11:59 PM EST.
-Tips-
K.I.S.S. – Keep it simple, silly. Try not to complicate or overthink things too much. It’s a simple, casual competition – there are no eliminations. Propose as you please!
-Judging Criteria-
Is it creative?
Does it accomplishes everything within the challenge guidelines?
Is it realistic?
-Reminders-
This prompt will be a points prompt. As a reminder, everyone who submits something as well as follows the rules will get 1 point. 3 awards are given for each challenge. The three awards are Bronze (+1 points), Silver (+2 points), and Gold (+3 points). Additionally, everyone who answers the Bonus receives an extra point.
Krakatau,
Wrath of the Ancients!
Deep within the jungle is a temple created by the Ancients thousands of years ago, this temple is sacred, any mortal that enters shall feel the Ancients' wrath, you have found the temple while lost, and you must feel immense pain. Coming soon to Volcano Bay is an all new river rapids adventure where you navigate the temple and it's traps. Ending in a fiery climax in an epic battle against the Ancients, where you all barely make it out of the temple with your lives.
Bonus: Coming soon to Blizzard Beach is all new water slide based on the classic Goofy short The Art of Skiing.
Mythic falls
Guests find a secret passage through a cave, unlocked by Tapu Tapu. There they come across a water slide, when going down, guests encounter the Moho, which are guardian water spirits that can control the water and weather and can shapeshift into many different forms. As it turns out, the Moho created this secret waterslide to please the people that visit it's domain, just make sure to come in with a flower as an offering, or else you will go down the rough path!
Bonus:
Elsa's magical waterslide will replace the abandoned waterslides that currently sit in Blizzard Beach.
Let me start by saying this sounds like a lot of fun, I never thought of it, but once I read it, I was blown away by it, as it sounds like a lot of fun, and for the loosing it team, they’ll get a refresh, in Hot Summer Days, I would say that there will be no looser! Overall, I feel like this is pretty realistic, as it wouldn’t be expensive, and would still be a unique water park experience. Great work, you created the attraction I never knew I needed!Kunuconuts
The descendants of the many-finned golden Kunuku make a game of cleaning out the coconuts from the shallow pool in which they have taken residence on Volcano Bay.
Guests can win simple prizes at a water canon game that keeps track of their wins by Taptu-ing into the Golden Fish canons lining a large, square water pad whose water jets keep dozens of coconut-painted inflatable rubber balls in constant motion.
Players win by cleaning out their quadrant of coconuts, which causes all sorts of water-jets and bucket-dumps to deluge the losers!
In time for the new Jungle Cruise movie starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Typhoon Lagoon will get a Jungle Cruise overlay with new rafts that resemble Jungle Cruisers so as to sell as many high-end, home pool, and bath tub Jungle Cruise boats and inflatables as fast as they can stock 'em.
Thanks to @DisneyFan18 for the help.
Journey Through the Spirit River
There's a new sight in the River Village, a large rocky mount with the face of an open-mouthed demon carved into it, leading beyond our realm and to Avaiki, the netherworld of the spirits, the exotic, wonderous, but sometimes dangerous realm of ghosts, monsters, and legends. Guests board canoes (eight per person) and guided through Avaiki by Kokonati, a lively coconut spirit, encountering the Waturi ancestors in their ghostly homes, giant marine creatures, monsters made from coral, rainbow-feathered Piwaiwaka fantail birds, and encounters with the ferocious volcano spirit Vol, and the benevolent wayfinder fish Kunuku, offering a way back to the "surface world". However, the journey is up to the guests - using the TapuTapu, guests can choose which way they go through Avaiki, as the river ride has several routes to take, but all end in a dramatic Splash Mountain-sized drop into a beautiful lagoon.
Bonus:
The Country Bears Winter Wipeout - An outdoor cart coaster based around the good old Country Bears, who have moved to Blizzard Beach for a wintery vacation, for a musical, rollickin', railroad ride through snow-covered hills and tunnels, and they even brought a few of their distant cousin along too!
POMOKA’I VISIONBOARDS
Become one with the Waturi people by taking part in their traditional rite of passage vision quest, performed aboard an interactive mystical one-person Canoe traversing the Wave Tunnels of Shared Memory.
A lengthy queue and pre-show immerse us in the shaman’s visionary worldview, full of smoke, Pepper’s Ghost effects and starfields, teaching us how to commune with the spirit world via a magical colored drum aboard our craft.
Guests then enjoy a “slideboarding” trip through psychedelic spiritual wormholes, as they try to match the colored warp gates with their drums (like water slides combined with Simon), with guests’ point totals adding purchasing power to their Tapu Tapu - an interactive and repeatable island experience!
-BONUS-
Tick Tock Croc has escaped into the waters of Typhoon Lagoon seeking Captain Hook, and while the crocodile is rarely seen, you’ll hear his telltale ticking all throughout your visit.
World's First Screen-Based Waterpark Attraction
Board your outrigger canoe, meet your guide, the legendary mystical fish Kunuku, and voyage across the Pacific in search of a new home. Feel the waves of the ocean with a state of the art ride mechanism, along with experiencing the rain on every long-distance voyage. Screens present Kunuku, how he helps use the sun, moon, & stars for navigation, as well as other ocean friends: Fungi the dolphin, Llio the monk seal, Honu the turtle, and Kohola the whale.
Bonus: Search for gear and treasures from the Swiss Family Robinson's boat wash as it washes ashore in Typhoon Lagoon.
Minion Beach
Loosely based off the video above, Minion Beach has guests in the middle of all the minions on a private island; an island that was once visited by the Waturi to find Kunuku.
This mini-land will host one water ride, The Minions Rafting Boats, some shops, and a restaurant called The Yellow Banana; this is also a great way to infuse characters into the "park", using a popular series and blending it with the backstory of Volcano Bay.
The Minions Rafting Boats is a dark/water thrill ride, that has guests, along with the help of the minions and Gru, find the fish themselves; the guests will also have to look out for Dru, who also plans to take the fish, which also helps with the cliffhanger of DM3; the ride is a blend of dark and wet, as the final turn takes guests on a huge plummet down a smaller volcano, fire spitting from the sides.
Bonus:
In 2019, in time for Typhoon Lagoon's 30th anniversary, Ketchakiddee Creek will become The Incredibles Rapid Getaway, an area that will host 10 different themed "splash areas", and of course, a shop to sell the beachy-themed Incredibles merchandise.
