CHALLENGE 3
THE MARVEL CONTRACT
3700166503603069477%253Faccount_id%253D9

-Background Information-
The Marvel Contract between Disney and Universal has been a topic of debate and discussion ever since the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe naturally permeated into the parks. With most of the Marvel library off limits east of the Mississippi, there are a few caveats to the contract that allow for certain Marvel properties to be utilized in Walt Disney World. (Linked Article about the contract)

-Challenge-
For the third challenge, find a loophole in the contract and design a Marvel superhero related attraction at any theme park in the Walt Disney World Resort.

-Bonus-
As a Bonus, add an Ant Man and/or Wasp attraction to Marvel Super Hero Island at Universal's Islands of Adventure.

-Rules-
You may use between 1 and 3 sentences and up to 1 image. For the bonus you may use 1 sentence. The deadline is Sunday July 8, 2018 at 10:59 PM EST. Reviews, results, and the next challenge will follow soon after.

-Judging Criteria-
Is it creative?
Does it accomplishes everything within the challenge guidelines?
Is it realistic?

-Tips-
Have fun and enjoy!

-Reminders-
This prompt will be a points prompt. As a reminder, everyone who submits something as well as follows the rules will get 1 point. 3 awards are given for each challenge. The three awards are Bronze (+1 points), Silver (+2 points), and Gold (+3 points). Additionally, everyone who answers the Bonus receives an extra point.

Combo Man: The Experience! (Sponsored by Combos)
ComboMan01.jpg

Coming soon to Hollywood Studios is an EMV dark ride starring Combo Man: Comic fanatic and Combos lover (wiki page here). Supervillain team A.I.M (who I think I can use) are building a weapon capable of destroying Australia (if it was a threat to America, then every other superhero would try to stop them), and it's up to you to join Combo Man to use his dozens of abilities to take down A.I.M and destroy the weapon. Ending in an epic battle with MODOK (can I use him?) where he knocks over the weapon and gets arrested, another victory for Combo Man!

Bonus: Dr. Doom's Fearfall will be rethemed to The Pym Particle, where the dropping element will be used to simulate growing and shrinking on a whim.

Howard the duck: Daydreamers
latest

This shooter dark ride will replace Imagination, when a troubled superpowered kid who is hinted to be a mutant (so that way universal doesn't think it's an xmen tie in) creates an alternate universe representing his mind, it's up to Howard the Duck and the guests to enter this world and save the kid. In this world, guests will encounter classic literary characters, long gone disney park characters, and a mysterious force called the dark hunter. Guests shoot at obstacles to help rescue the characters from the dark hunter and to get to the kid and help him with his troubles.
Bonus: Ant Man: Race against The Ghost will replace storm force acceleration and will be universal's first test track style ride. It will use screens and physical effects to make it seem like guests are chasing against The Ghost in high speeds and being shrunk and grown.

Are we expected to design an attraction that would not violate the contract? Find a real loophole not a “loophole” wink-wink.

Really like the thought on this one - Aladdin has such depth to it and with the upcoming live-action film it may spark a new life in the franchise. Like your idea for Star Tours, though with Soarin' that may be a bit redundant to go over the Pyramids again. The Cave of Wonders area might be my favorite. DHS with all the new attractions needs place to explore (imho) and this type of interactive walk-through area would be perfect. The market area also reminds me a lot of Galaxy's Edge so that would flow nicely and fits the theme of the prompt - nice job!
I am glad you liked this. Reading another post I thought also about the Cairo bazaar scene in Raiders. Re-theming star tours was a budget minded decision ;) if they could have the star tours exit to Baatu, they could keep it in theme, but without that, I see it changing. I also just saw the live musical Aladdin in London, which was fantastic. We could probably take out the flying over the pyramids, you’re right on the redundancy.

Yes! Basically something that wouldn't violate the contract - I guess the reason why DisneyFan included the word 'loophole' was when people think of Disney/Marvel they tend to go straight to the MCU, but there are other 'Marvel' characters and properties that might not be in the MCU yet or not in the MCU at all that Disney owns and could work around the contracted characters.

The Adventures of Ka-Zar
Mcp5.jpg

Coming soon to Animal Kingdom, the wildest hero of Marvel Comics: Ka-Zar! This wild man brings the unexplored regions of the Savage Land to Orlando in the most amazing, specutacular stunt show since WaterWorld, complete with volcano eruptions, crashing airplanes, warring tribesmen, ape men, appearances from Shanna the She-Devil and Zabu the sabretooth, and an exciting finale in which the stage is invaded by life-sized Devil Dinosaur, forcing Ka-Zar and his fellow allies to start punching out dinosaurs!

Bonus - Ant-Man's Particle Pusher - Replacing Storm Force Acceleration, in a new should building, a fast-paced dark ride/coaster, like a mix of Tron Lightcycle Power Run and Adventure Thru Inner Space.

Defend New York
marvels-luke-cage.jpg

Leveraging Disney's successful VOID virtual-reality venture at Disney Springs, guests travel, virtually, from a re-imagined Launch Bay area in Disney Hollywood Studios to New York to become one of the Defenders to battle the Hand and save New York City. Guests are in teams of four (as in the Star Wars DS experience), randomly assigned to Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and the Iron Fist (your magic band & MDE account will prevent repeats until you've experienced each "hero"). The heroes battle villains from the Hand, ultimately confronting Madam Gao, with the success of the mission depending on our heroes teamwork.

Ant Man & The Wasp

This screen based attraction takes you flying through different cities chasing villains, with multiple jarring size changes along the way.

Let's say the loophole is detailed. Do we have to explain the loophole in the 1-3 sentences or can we use additional to explain the loophole. Or do we not need to explain it at all.
You do not need to waste sentences explaining the loophole. If the wording of 'loophole' is difficult to understand - then think of it as simply a Marvel property that is not included in the contract - boom, done

I was thinking, 'if the loophole is that big, maybe forward it straight to Disney legal'. I'd imagine they've looked at every loophole. Also, pushing contracts like that to the bleeding edge often yields retribution. There's no Black Panther at IoA, today. Disney pushes Universal too hard, and voila, a Black Panther attraction coincides with the release of BP2.

With the fight over Fox, I don't see Comcast, or at least Brian Roberts, giving up the Marvel rights they have in Orlando.

Unless there is a loophole in that contract for Universal’s side that would allow the creation of a new Marvel attraction, I don’t think you tried to come up with a better bonus regarding the contract.
I don't think you tried to read a few pages ago where I stated that these challenges are not mine and I'm simply completing the original vision I was provided for the season. If you don't like it, I could care less - you don't even participate anyway.

Dr. Strange and the Dimensional Shift
doctor_strange_wide.jpg

After the surprise success of EPCOT's Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster, Disney quickly started working on another attraction, known as Dr. Strange and the Dimensional Shift, and turned the area behind and next to the GotG coaster Superhero Park.

This Dr. Strange themed dark ride takes guests through a fun, portal-jumping adventure with Dr. Strange himself in animatronic form; many of the aspects come from the movie, but some also come from the comics; the ride itself contains an abundance of animatronics, but also utilizes projection techniques that create the portals and scenes in the backgrounds.

After exiting the ride, you'll be entered into the Dr. Strange Portal Props, a gift shop that houses fun Dr. Strange merchandise, including t-shirts and action figures.

Bonus:
After the success of Ant-Man and the Wasp, Universal added a new meet-up with famous Marvel characters they're allowed to use, along with the main Ant-Man and Wasp.

Tour of Wakanda
1 dnV4mCoxhOMU36gtl0LC4Q.jpeg

Tour of Wakanda will be the newest addition to Disney's Animal Kingdom, and will be located in Africa; by not using any character from the movie, Disney is free to use the land in the movie, and it's still Marvel (the contract is very, very confusing).

This simulator utilizes the same technology as Star Tours, and allows you to visit the ins and outs of Wakanda, including the mountains; YOU are the lucky visitors who get to visit the land, right after everything that happens from Black Panther.

If I'm not mistaken, Black Panther is potentially a loophole, so without using any characters from the movie, this still uses Marvel and a character; along with the ride is a mini area that features a marketplace from Wakanda; the ride and area is located a bit farther back from Africa.

Bonus:
A new roller-coaster will be built in Marvel Superhero Island, and will combine a dark ride with a thrill ride, making you think you've been shrunk down like Ant-Man or the Wasp; there will be two different sides of it, the Ant-Man side and the Wasp side.
