Zootopia Monorail
latest

The Zootopia monorail station picks up visitors at Main street, and takes them around Adventure land to Critter Country - which will soon be replaced by Zootopia.

The monorail uses screens as windows to show beautiful sights, similar to the Hogwarts express at Universal.

This ride will provide a unique experience every time as there will be 6 randomized 'routes' (aka videos).
I think this would be really fun! The monorail trip in the movie was incredible so to bring it to real life would make for such a fun experience. It would mean that Zootopia takes over Critter Country but that's not something that I feel would be too far-fetched.

Who's on First?
casey-s-corner-1.jpg

A new seasonal performance show will take place outside Casey's Corner on Main Street U.S.A., throughout February to March (Baseball Spring Training) and October (Baseball Postseason) inspired by the famous Abbott and Costello skit, 'Who's on First'

Cast members dressed as ballplayers will put on a comedy sketch for the ages outside Casey's Corner to add to the ambiance of the baseball themed quick service restaurant, which will further immerse the guests in an oldtime American midwest town.

Even though this was designed for WDW I love it. This would be a great addition to Main Street.
Here's one for Disneyland;)

The Carolwood Yard
Screen-Shot-2013-05-07-at-1.50.04-PM.png

Adjacent to the Disneyland Station once you pass underneath the tracks on the left hand side will be a Carolwood Pacific exhibit showing off some of Walt Disney's train collection and images of Walt's backyard train set. This quaint station will accent Disneyland Station and also expand the presence of trains offering train enthusiasts more to explore as they stroll down Main Street U.S.A.
For your real submission, it makes sense. Walt was a huge fan of trains so to have an exhibit all about that within his park makes sense. It not only improves the sense of trains in the park, but also gives us another connection back to Walt.

-Back Story-

Over the years we have seen different re-themes happen to the park's icons like Mickey’s Wand for EPCOT or the Birthday Cake Castle. It’s been awhile since we have seen one of these re-themes.

-Challenge-

Take one of the four park icons (You can choose whatever for DHS as it always seems to be changing) and re-theme it. It can be themed for an anniversary, a celebration, or something else that you think would work. It just can’t be the exact same as what it is now.

-Rules-

For this challenge, you may use 1-3 sentences and 1 picture describing what the new icon re-theme would look like. This prompt will be due November 19th at 10PM EST. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to ask away!

Toon Chinese Theater
mickeys-toontown_primary1.jpg

since mickey and minnie's runaway railway is soon to open, the current look does not quite fit the ride. That's why, with this new re-theme, the chinese theater will gain a new toony exterior to fit the interior of the ride, as well as many retro mickey film posters on the sides, thus giving this new ride full immersiveness inside and out. Think the chinese theater, with the toontown look.

MOTHER EARTH
For Animal Kingdom's 20th anniversary this coming summer, the Tree of Life turns a new leaf (temporarily of course) into Mother Earth, Gaia, a symbol of our planet's ecology, nurture and commonality.

Mother Earth's beautiful face is formed from a vertical farm of live edible foliage, while from her gentle hand flows an abundant, life-giving stream which gives rise to new animal-shaped Baobab sprouts.

Even "It's Tough to Be a Bug" within Gaia's roots evolves, with a new insect show dedicated the cycle of life, connecting together the natural processes of rain, fire, sun, soil and creature.

With the Christmas show on the Tower of Terror in Disney's Hollywood Studios premiering this year, next fall for the Halloween Season, while not a show, Disney will use similar projection technology to resemble the ghostly presence of the hotel section that vanished when lightning struck the tower in 1939. An eerie electrically glowing outline of the two protruding columns on the tower's front side looking out onto sunset boulevard will add to the ambiance of the spooky season.

The Small World

In order to promote unification in the world, and the upgrades that will hopefully come to the beloved attraction, Cinderella's Castle is decorated with simple patterns from it's a small world.

The patterns will be up for two months, and will contribute to the parks growing modernism.

I love this idea! I think it is very practical considering there is nothing designed like that in WDW and the theatre facade might feel out of place with the new ride.

I've always found Gaia interesting. I think she would probably make the most sense for a re-theme to the Tree of Life than anything else. Good call on that!

This is a good idea! With all the work/ testing they've been doing with projections on the ToT it just makes sense that they'd try to use it year round. My only concern would be if the projections would show up properly during the day.

I absolutely love the facade to It's A Small World so putting it on the Castle would be incredible! The reasoning to why the additions made to the castle also makes sense and overall it is a good call.

Challenge 9: Time to close up shop

-Back Story-

For the final challenge of the season, it is time to make a big change. It’s time to change up the WDW skyline in a big way. In a shocking way, you are forced to close one of the parks.

-Challenge-

The challenge is that you have to close one of the 4 parks to replace it with a full IP based park. It can be currently owned by Disney (Lucasfilms, Marvel, Pixar, etc.) or something that is not Disney-based but would buy for the purpose of the park (Avatar). The only rule is that it cannot be a Universal-based IP (E.T., Jurassic Park, etc.) but assume that for this challenge there is no longer a Marvel Superhero island so you can make a Marvel park if that’s what is wanted.

-Rules-

For this challenge, you may use 1-5 sentences and 1 picture describing which park you are closing and what IP the park replacing it is. This final challenge is due Sunday, November 26th at 10 PM EST

Toon Park
toontown_transit_sm.jpg

Replacing Hollywood studios, toon park is based on the beloved toontown from who framed roger rabbit. Unlike previous toontowns, this one will be exactly like the one seen in the movie. The big e-ticket will be a revival of the cancelled roger rabbit ride, using the new 2 and a half d technology, as well as many other spectacular special effects. There will be other, non roger related attractions as well, such as mickey and minnie's house, mickey and minnie's runaway railway, duckberg, and so on.

Oh hey, DisneySea's Tower of Terror kind of does this, and it's awesome! At night there's an eerie green glow which flashes when the elevators drop. It represents a Shiriki Utundu's magic (different storyline), but could easily work for lightning.
