We've turned on our TVs and our stop is - the Weather Channel!

If you've been to Disney World or any theme park in the southeast during the summer holiday - you've probably had the experience of an afternoon storm. A storm that you can bank on happening anywhere from noon-4pm, and then typically clearing up afterwards. But this task is about - what to do in the rain?

In 1-3 Sentences, your task will be to create a new, 'non-ride' location that will keep guests entertained in the rain. This location can be placed within any park on WDW property.

An example would be Innoventions - an interactive area, indoors, for guests to explore in the rain within the park.

A custom sketch of the designs are optional and aren't necessary (though if you can - more power to you!)

This project will be due Wednesday July 26th at 9PM EST

As always have fun and if you have any questions please feel free to ask! :)

Just a quick note on the challenge requirement because I got a question on it. :bookworm:

Basically anything other than a ride is fair game to be placed in a WDW theme park. It could be an indoor walk-through, a meet and greet, a game zone, an indoor show, etc. The goal is something relatively small because it's easier to compare smaller additions such as the ones listed vs something like Soarin' or Mission: Space as a way to beat the rain.

Hopefully that helps clarify it but if you have any other questions please ask away!:)

If I say that the Parks and Resorts developed in a slightly different way chronologically, would that hurt my proposal's chance of winning, because it ultimately may be slightly unrealistic or unfitting?

And what is there is a moving vehicle portion of my experience, but it does not exist as it's own entity?

Dreamin' big for this one :p

Well the good thing about these projects is they are only 3 sentences so they can be modified easily haha.

It's hard to say from this description, but I would lean towards that it's fine. I don't want to be too limiting, I just didn't want people creating an indoor ride vs an indoor arcade...like how am I comparing those together?:p:joyfull:

Also have something fun planned for next round -- as we only have 4 rounds left or so (went by fast right?) I wanted to mix it up a bit while still keeping with the TV theme. It'll be a semi-catch-up round as well for anyone who wants the opportunity for more medals in the 'for fun' medal leaderboard, and also an opportunity for the leaders to pad their stats if they want.

A tease:bookworm:

My proposal is to expand the Tangled area that transitions the area from Fantasyland to Liberty Square. Unless you want to wait in a line, go on It's a Small World or hide in a restaurant, there is nowhere to hide from the rain in that area. With the expansion, it would add some actual life to an otherwise sad and boring tangled mini-land. This expansion would include the Tangled show that can currently be found at Disneyland, a proper meet & greet for Flynn Rider and Rapunzel (She'd move over from Princess Fantasy Faire), and more theming throughout the area including things like Maximus' hooves randomly implanted around the concrete.

HARAMBE CAVERN ADVENTURES

Travel deep within Africa, and deep within the earth, to a monolithic church ruin in the Ethiopian style which has been reclaimed by nature, and reformed by underground rivers into a sprawling cavern complex.

Safe from the sweltering rainforests of Animal Kingdom's Africa, catacomb guests discover a wide array of live underground animals (burrowing mammals, eerie glow worms, sightless amphibians) and spelunk down countless mysterious passages full of stalactites, precious minerals and bottomless pits.

This underground equivalent of Tom Sawyer's Island even boasts a Cavern Tavern, hewn by recent explorers, where guests can enjoy drinks and snacks while admiring the alien beauty of the underground world.

While there's still plenty of time for Challenge 8 projects I wanted to go ahead and post Challenge 9 because it's a bit unique and an opportunity for new players to catch up, and continuing players to pad their stats if they want to! But I also wanted to make sure everyone had plenty of time. Will be posting shortly:) Reviews/Results will still be on for Challenge 8 tonight as well - looking forward to it!

--Roku--

We've turned on our TVs and our stop is - our Roku!

Roku is one of the highest rated and most used streaming services in the U.S. - including a wide variety of channels and services all from one box. Some TVs even have built in Roku's now, and I even know some people who don't have cable or satillite TV and instead just have a Roku box.

In the spirit of Roku's variety - Challenge 9 will have multiple challenges - all revolving around the streaming services available on Roku, with a theme park touch.

The multiple challenges will still be 1-3 sentences each, and ranked separately, so you can do however many you want to try and catch up to the leaders, or pad your medal count as well.

Here are the 4 challenges:

--Create a YouTube Vlog Channel for a Disney character--

--Pitch the next Marvel Netflix hero (or villain) TV series--

nbc-universal-old-logo.png

--Build a location from a hit NBC television show (from any era) for Universal Studios Orlando--

amazon-logo-preview.png

--Design the ultimate Disney merchandise item--

(P.S. - did you ever realize the Amazon logo is representing that they have everything from A to Z? :joyfull:)

The Everything Store
Challenge 9
Futuristic-Shoe-Store-Design.jpg

This new addition replaces Mousegears and is (obviously) sponsored by Amazon. The store not only showcases mostly Disney merchandise but also books, music, and electronics. Next to the store is a pavilion showcasing the history and workings of the worlds largest retailer.

Animation Creation
maxresdefault.jpg

With the introduction of Star Wars land at Hollywood Studios, the Star Wars Launch Bay will most likely be closing and relocating closer, so that means it's time for animation to once again take center stage in Animation Courtyard, but newer, bigger, and better.

Taking a cue from the Animation center in California Adventure, this new area will replicate the wide open lobby with surrounding screens showing the Animation process of several different Disney/Pixar movies and playing the greatest Disney hits and filled with comfortable sofa seats along the prerimiter so the middle can be used by active children.

To accomidate the bigger area, meet and greets, Animation Academy, snack location, and interative games, the building will be expanded to take over the old, next door movie theatre, and this will not only allow a greater number of guests in on rainy and/or sweltering days, but they will not be packed like sardines like the current Launch Bay currently has it's guests.

Excellent creation. :D I had no doubt you'd be able to come up with a new and exciting concept, and that you wouldn't cave. ;):joyfull:
