Welcome Back to the One Sentence Competition
Season 9, Episode 1
Pitching Elevators
All are welcome to join in on the One Sentence Competition, it doesn't matter if you're not a regular on the forums, an observer, or an active participant. The low stakes yet high fun of the One Sentence Competition is fit for everyone. Don't worry about a time commitment given how the challenges max out at three sentences this event is perfect for those on the go with plenty of things going on, or great for those who know how to perfectly get their elevator pitch across. If you miss a few challenges don't worry about it as throughout the Episode there will be plenty of ways to make up for the times you couldn't make it.
There will be 10 Rounds and each will last around 4 days. You'll be given a prompt and you have to pitch your idea with only 1-3 Sentences and up to 1 Picture
Imagine that YOU have just walked into Imagineering HQ. You're an aspiring Imagineer, but for now you're just a lowly intern wandering these Hallowed Halls. It's your break time and even though you only have 15 minutes, you decide to relax on the rooftop garden Imagineering HQ definitely has. BUT when you hop into the elevator something amazing happens...
Someone that could potentially change your life steps into the elevator too!
Joe Disney!
"If you can Dream it, my name is Joe" - Joe Disney, 1982
Now is your chance! Give Joe Disney your Elevator Pitch!
If you don't know, an Elevator Pitch is a very simple way of communicating something. The idea being that if you find yourself in an elevator with someone who could make your dreams come true (someone like Joe Disney), than you have only the length of that elevator ride to convince them that your concept is worth taking a chance on!
The One Sentence Competition is nicknamed the Elevator Pitch competition for a reason! It isn't about how good you are at writing or drawing. It doesn't matter if you have hours to spend working on your project or minutes (some 1SC projects have been done in seconds even). All that matters is having a good idea and being able to communicate it efficiently. This puts everyone on equal footing
Simple enough for new comers, but rewarding enough for veterans
A great way to start in the Imagineering forums, to relax a bit between bigger competitions, or just to have a good time and use your imagination a bit! Everyone who participates in a challenge will receive 1 point, as long as they follow the rules. Then, the top three will receive bronze (1 point), silver (also 1 point), and gold (2 points) medals. Plus, each round will have an "Honorable Mention" for an idea that excels in one area that deserves a special shout out, but wasn't in the top 3 overall for whatever reason. Whoever has the most points at the end of the game wins bragging rights and first dibs on hosting the next Episode
Every round will also feature a Bonus; complete the bonus and get an extra point! These will usually be a fun little addition and often focused on sharpening specific Armchair Imagineering skills such as including an original drawing, choosing some music to accompany your project, using fonts/color choices in a creative way, or adding a holiday overlay. Don't be surprised to see a more wacky bonus or two too!
The game begins at MIDNIGHT tonight!
Climb aboard the elevator and let's begin
