One of those days that has lived in infamy...

6 years ago today, something happened at Epcot that no one will forget. 6 years ago, the original Journey Into Imagination was taken from us and with it, our good friend the Dreamfinder. Many of us have come up with suspects for who had done this crime against humanity. Some blame Dr. Nigel Channing, others blame an evil Dreamfinder, but most of us do what us Disney fans do best, blame managment. I wrote a story about the day of darkening as the first chapter of a prequel to my Battle for Disney story. Here it is: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2055507/1/
This thread's purpose is to remember a fallen friend and hope for a day that might see his return to his home and his creation.

Six years too many.

We miss you Dreamfinder. Imagination will never be the same without you (and boy does that show!)

Thank you, Tahu, for your fan fiction!

*sniffs*

The closing of the original occured in a span of years where I didn't go to Disney at all. Out of high school and into the world, I didn't have the luxury of trips to Orlando, nor money for the World. So, it was years later that I even heard of not only it's passing, but it's first replacement.

I never got to see it again. My last visit was a casual one about ten or eleven years ago and I didn't know then it would be my last. I really, truly and deeply miss it.

Dreamfinder will always live on in my imagination!! We definitely need to keep him alive in our hearts... and who knows... maybe he'll reappear again some sunny day...

Wow. What's with October 10th? I really miss Journey into Imagination. It was my favorite as a kid. I was really disgusted with the redesign when I rode in 2000. It was like having your favorite toy taken away from you and replaced with some other toy that is vastly inferior. Today I offer a moment of silence for our fallen brother, and hope that the newest version is a bit better.

As far as AE. I only rode it once, so I didn't really have a chance to get a real good feel for it. I'll reserve judgement until I ride SGE in Jan.

Although i'm sure there's plenty of footage of the original ride anywhere on the net, **sniff**, the battery on my camcorder died halfway through while I was filming it, and I never went back and picked up from where it left off.

Long Live the Dreamfinder!:(
We keep a candle burning in the Dreamport window for you.
Here's hoping that Nigel Channing is soon memorialized on these boards.:D

JII was my favorite ride of all time and nothing can replace it. I had no idea that JII had been taken away when I went on my 2000 trip, and you can probably imagine how angry I was when I first rode JIYI. Despicable...

Let's bring him back! Vive el DREAMFINDER!

I actually hated the original Journey into Imagination. It was however, much better than what we have now. Plus, I was 7 the last time I rode the original Imagination and I had a much different view towards Disney back then. I am much older now and I would probably enjoy it now.

I did like Journey into Your Imagination though better than the current version. It seems like the current version is to get back at everyone who complained about no Figment.

I've noticed a peculiar thing regarding this topic:

In the WDW vacation planning videos, even as recent as the "Magical Gatherings" current video (DVD), they say something along the lines of
"Take a journey along with Figment in the Imagination Pavilion" and as they show the figment "Muppet" (for lack of a better term) outside the Imagination Pavilion...............

..........a brief glimpse can be seen that he is, in fact, sitting on Dreamfinder's shoulder (as he often times was back in the good ole days  ).

I only recently noticed this and thought that anyone who longs for Dreamfinder's return could appreciate this small and unintentional, but nonetheless significant homage to Dreamfinder! :drevil:
