(1) team wise, it's probably a tie between a proposal for Glacier Bay that I was a part of a year or so ago (creator games maybe?) and then an 80s Epcot proposal we did for The Microverse and Turkey pavilions during SA
Personally it might be something I did for SYWTBAI S16 for Hyperspace Falls. I've done things that had maybe more art or more detail here and there, but that one I was really happy with how the presentation turned out and then how the art and idea/pitch came about to fit with the presentation.

(2) I'm not really an expert at anything. If I had to pick one, probably on the artistic side. Getting back into drawing again, and think I've contributed to coming up with good presentation ideas that fit different types of challenges.

(3) attraction type/mode knowledge (more detail on inner workings of all the various technologies that can go into the rides)

All of those projects are fantastic! Hyperspace Falls may be my personal favorite of those if for no other reason than the amazing presentation!

--Overview--

The One Little Spark Competition (Sponsored by Stealing Things) is a brand new armchair imagineering competition!

I have stolen the Dreamfinder's Ship which can take that one little spark of inspiration and turn it into wonderful creations. So, I'm looking for some creative, talented, and fun Imagineers to come on a joy ride with me and make some amazing things!

I'll drive the ship, you guys imagine the stuff!

GvGQH6V.gif

--Gameplay--

This will be a team based competition that will take place over 10 scenes (each scene is a new prompt or round).

These scenes will be divided over 5 acts of 1-3 scenes apiece, and each act will have it's own overarching theme for the scenes within the larger story of our joyride on the dreamfinder's stolen ship to help keep the competition constantly feeling fresh and exciting!

For the most part, scenes are based around projects in WDW and other US Disney parks. But there will be a few rounds that branch out a bit or at least give you the freedom to branch out more!

At the end of each scene, one of two things will happen. After most scenes, the winning team will get a bonus! Usually some kind of small advantage or a small prank they can play on the losing team. Mostly just for fun. After some scenes, especially later on in the game (exactly how many depends on how many people are playing), instead of the winning team getting a reward someone from the losing team may be eliminated. But competitions and teams are more fun with more people! So, don't expect too many eliminations!

--The Two Teams--

Players will be divided up into two teams to compete against each other. Though, the main focus is having fun and creating awesome things more than getting tooooooo competitive.

In honor of the lovable dragon Figment, these are Team Purple and Team Orange.

My goal is to keep teams together and not move people around too often so that teams can develop a good chemistry and maybe even a few friendships! If people do need to, for whatever reason, be switched around, it will be mostly in between acts.

While you will always be on a team together, you and your team may not always be working on a single project together. There are two different kinds of scenes in this game.

All for One: Group Based Projects will be more traditional team based game play where there is one prompt and the team will brainstorm and work together to develop one singular project together. All the team for one project.

One for All: Individual Based Projects will be feature a prompt where each member of the team will be working on their own solo project for it. These prompts will of course be simpler and less complicated since everyone is working solo. At the end of the round, the average score of all the projects submitted by a team will be the teams score. That way, if someone doesn't turn in a project, it won't hurt the rest of the team! Team brainstorming threads will still be sent out for these rounds and players are encouraged to help each other and brainstorm and talk about the project with their team! You are still a team even on the individual based rounds after all!

--Fun Focused--

The focus of the competition is on having fun and growing as armchair imagineers! I know fall can be a busy time with everyone back at school and figuring out their schedule. I want this to feel like something fun rather than a burden or a commitment you're saddled with. So, I'm taking steps in setting up this competition to try to make it easy for everyone to compete if they would like!

The first major step is that projects will not be judged on detail. I'm not saying that a team of 8 turning in a 5 sentence project would be a good idea, but the focus is on hitting the important notes and communicating your idea effectively rather than on conveying every part of the whole experience. A well written paragraph can go just as far as a whole essay. That being said, if you do want to write and have the time to write an 81 page Fantasyland Expansion, I will happily skim read through it! Nothing wrong with detail, just don't feel pressured if the team doesn't have the time. Same with using reference photos vs. original artwork.

--How to Sign Up--

Are you interested in joining me on this joy ride in a magical journey into Grand Theft Dirigible?

Sign ups start right now!

Just answer these three simple quick questions:

What is your favorite armchair imagineering project you've worked on?
What would you say is your greatest strength as an armchair imagineer?
What is something you would like to try to improve on?

The Competition starts September 16th, 2018!

The goal is to get 12 people, but the more the merrier! Or less works too of course.

--Theme Song--

What better band to represent the One Little Spark Competition, which was inspired by Figment the imagined dragon, than Imagine Dragons!

Let's do this! Any questions?

Hi Pi! Sorry I'm so late replying to this (and honestly most stuff around these parts). The adjustment to college has been intense (in a good way). Unfortunately, I just don't know if I'll be able to commit this semester, while I'm still trying to figure everything out. I'll definitely be following along to the best of my ability! :D

EDIT: Sign-Ups Appear to be Already done. I'm dumb. :p

No worries! The first semester can definitely be a busy and crazy one! Hope you have a great time! Try out a bunch of clubs and get free pizza and pass those classes and all that great stuff!

And sign ups aren't done. We may have the 12, but the more the merrier is the way I view it! So, if anyone wants to join still they're welcome too :)

I'll talk about some more stuffs tomorrow, but for now, let's finish this post up by playing the theme song.

Play that funky music, Barry-corn!
A Barry-corn is half unicorn and half guy named Barry btw

Listening to the song and watching the Barry-corn GIF is making me laugh way more than it should.

So, as we are about to set off on our journey of Grand Theft Dirigible, let's talk a bit more about that journey!

10 Scenes over 5 Acts

Each Act will have between 1 & 3 scenes with some kind of thematic connection between them.

Each scene should take about a week.

This means we should be finishing up right around Thanksgiving. Either with a couple of scenes being shorter to finish before or a couple scenes being extended so we finish after. I'm gonna make sure that if there is a project over Thanksgiving break, it will have plenty of extra time so you won't have to work over the holiday if you don't want to.

If anyone has a preference between having a few shorter scenes to finish before Thanksgiving or a few longer scenes to finish after, let me know!

Now, I am hosting this myself. Which means I'll be the only reviewer/judge consistent throughout.

I am gonna look for guest reviewers though! My goal will be to have one guest reviewer for each of the four acts to help provide you guys with some more varied feedback. With any eliminated contestants who want to do it and any former guest reviewers who want to do it coming back for the finale in Act 5 to review the last projects!

If anybody who isn't playing would like to be a guest judge for one of the acts, let me know!

Respond here or message me and I can give you approximate dates of the different acts and how many scenes long they'll be so you can see what works best for you!

I am happy to announce that @mickeyfan5534 has already signed up to be one of the guest judges!

Which means I have three more spots open for guest judges!

Now, as I said in the intro, I want to try to make this game as accessible, low stress, and easy to compete in as I can! I don't want this to ever feel like a burden or a huge strain on time.

If someone wants to play, I want to do what I can to make that possible and fun for them!

I already mentioned in the intro that part of this will be me not judging on detail to try to take the pressure off of writing longer projects during busy weeks. Basically, the details you do include and it being enough to communicate your idea is more important than having a ton of ideas. Especially in the solo rounds.

Another aspect to help keep this competition as stress free as possible for the people playing is Vacation Days, a concept straight up stolen from Sorcerer's Apprentice Extensions!

Both teams will get two Extensions they can use during any Scene in Acts 1-4!

Using an extension will push the due date back an extra day giving the teams 24 more hours to finish up the projects!

That way if teams fall behind or have unexpected hardships or technical difficulties come up, you don't have to worry about finishing it up in a last minute panicked style. Relax and have fun making something you can be proud of!

If there is anything else I can do to make this competition be less stress free and flow smoother for you, just ask!

Would it help if the due dates were never on Mondays?
Is there a timezone you'd like me to include when I post when things are due?
Did the Drew Carrey figure from Superstar Limo stab you in the eye during your 8th birthday trip to California Adventure leaving you a one eyed freak much like the Mike Wazowski Figures found in the Monsters Inc. dark ride that replaced Superstar Limo, thus, a prompt related to Superstar Limo would bring up traumatic memories, thus, you would like me to avoid that topic?

I'll do my best to accommodate everyone I can while not compromising the game itself.

If there is anything I can do, let me know! You can tell me here in this thread or feel free to direct message me.

One final post for the night!

This is the last call for people to join the game if they want their name to be in the intro video for Act 1! Because it is almost game time so I'm making that tomorrow lol.

Though you can join the game up until I post the first prompt on 9/16. You just won't be featured in the Act 1 video unless you let me know within the next 24 hours.

So, I'm gonna tag the people who had said they weren't sure if they could play or not to let them know this magical airship is heading out soon!

May or may not be around for the first few days. Just depends on what things are looking like with Flo and aftermath. So if I'm MIA initially will be back asap.
