To any pet owners; former and current: when you lost a pet who was part for your family for nearly a decade, how did you cope? Earlier today, one of my family dogs; a Navy Seal named Archie; had been found with a malignant tumor that caused him to bleed internally in his lungs, so he had to be put down this afternoon. He's not the only dog we have and I know he's no longer suffering, but the heartbreak is still too much for me.

I'm really sorry for you and your family's loss. Having a dog I dread this day, but all I can say is that your dog was clearly loved and lived his best life surrounded by people who cared for him.

The loss of a beloved pet is one of the most difficult and heartbreaking things imaginable. It just hits a different place in your heart.
When my cat died a few years ago, I was absolutely devastated. I didn’t even want to go anywhere or do anything for days. Happened right when we got home from a vacation too.
I guess what helps me the most is keeping all the happy memories alive. And thinking about how fortunate we are to be able to share such a special and unique bond with an animal like that, and knowing that you gave this fur baby a wonderful life full of love and happiness.

I’m so, so deeply sorry for your loss, friend.
