One day Pirates of the Caribbean closure for refurbishment

Again, why do the details have to be understood and recognized to be relevant? There is a boot scraper around the facade of DL's haunted mansion to create the Southern plantation feel. California homes don't have boot scrapers, so I would assume most Californians don't know about boot scrapers on the porches of old Southern plantations. Should the boot scraper be removed since most Californians don't know about them?

The story does come through and everything is complete. Things like the bayou and the caves are all part of the overall storyline of DL's version of Pirates. It's a story. This very storyline does not exist for MK's version, which is probably why we're going back and forth.
OK, you win... it's perfect and understood by everyone. To begin with I stated that the DL was a great ride, I was just trying to point out that, like WDW, it has some flaws in that only a few would understand. Your comment about boot scrapers is relevant. Until I looked up what the purpose of the bayou in the ride was, I had no idea. I have, however, heard of boot scrapers and/or boot jacks. They were common items in human past. Only a few people knew anything about pirates. Unless you know something about the history of pirates and how that relates to New Orleans it isn't at all a part of the story. In order to tell a story, one has to know what they are being told via the story. It's even vague where it is and is only assumed because it's in the New Orleans area of DL.

The DL ride is longer because that part is in it. It is detailed in it's way as is WDW by use of the old fort that makes up the queue area. It is even possible to say that WDW is more detailed due to the travel though the fort. In DL you have a very detailed bayou area that consist mostly of water and a few props. It's is good and enhances the ride, but, it really doesn't take away from WDW. I like them both, but, I don't see where one has the edge over the other. Just a slightly different story.

Right, but that version is set in New Orleans where MK's is in adventure land where that wouldn't make sense.

To be fair, I've heard of many guests not at all understanding going through the bayou. Not trying to argue about this, but I think it can be more confusing than you may realize. Sure, *I* get it. I personally liked the bayou but again, it's Pirates of the *Caribbean*. To simplify (such as an average guest) "Why on earth are we going through a bayou?".

Again, not arguing but not everyone, sadly, cares to truly understand why. I think that may be what's trying to be said.

I'm curious about the one day refurb too. Hopefully certain things get fixed but I'm also wondering if it's something behind the scenes too so nothing will be different when it reopens. Sigh. It badly needs work.

When was the last time the projection worked? I feel like it's been off for quite a while. If not a face at least throw up some sort of mist. How hard is that? It can't be fixed overnight?

It's definitely becoming the new Splash Mountain pre-2013 refurb.

I was in the MK today (12/18). It never reopened from yesterdays closure. Went by there around 1:30pm to ride and the CMs were standing there saying that it was still closed but might reopen later in the day. One of my kids felt sick so we left the park at 2:45pm so I don't know if it reopened later in the day or not.

Will add that the days before the 17th closure there was no smoke screen and thus no projection, no mermaids and (thankfully) no splashing in the cannon scene - (The CM said they turned that off because of complaints). I was very surprised to see fog in the cannon scene. I had not seen that in years. We still got wet on the drop in the front row but not too bad.

Maybe too late, kinda like maintenance on this attraction, but a one day closure could mean one less day of guests being disappointed by a broken ride. Also, guests have been known to get wet while seated in rows other than the first row, and not just by the initial drop. Okay, on to a relevant question. Which gets fixed first, Yeti or POTC?
