'Once Upon A Time' projection show to replace Celebrate the Magic

I like that they've actively tweaked and changed these shows since starting the projections. Letting things like this settle in for too long always creates controversy when change finally happens. We've seen it with live entertainment, parades, nighttime spectacles and more.

By letting things sit for too long and allowing guest repeated viewings over years it creates a sense of familiarity which all but guarantees nostalgia when they decide to move on. I think that's why we bicker over some of the stuff that we do on here.

Hopefully, the'll keep this trend going with semi-frequent tweaks and changes to the shows at Hollywood Studios and on the Tree of life, if not all-out swaps for new shows.

Honestly, I'd be okay if they had either a rotating schedule of projections during the week or even just switched between them every few years, giving us the chance to still have the nostalgia and see something new.

Because Disney thinks their guest are stupid. Advertise a new show and take the people's minds off of thinking about a replacement parade.

As mentioned previously, the show in Tokyo acts as their fireworks show (though with 2 nightly performances), so I would expect to see a reduction in pyro for WDW. TDL has historically had trouble doing large fireworks shows on a consistent basis due to the winds off of Tokyo Bay, so the reliability of OUAT and its low-level pyro has been well received

From what I remember, it's a very good show, but not a great show. It uses the projections well and has pretty good pacing, but relies a little too heavily on the architectural mapping gimmicks and has some dull parts. IMO, Dreams at DLP is still the best projection/multimedia show, but this one isn't bad by any means. It will be interesting to see how this is received in WDW, where projection shows have always been supporting players to the main fireworks, since this was created as a featured show.

Although this announcement came as a surprise, I'm still somewhat disappointed that they decided to replace the relatively-new projection show, rather than the highly overrated fireworks show that should have been replaced years ago

Okay so let me get this straight is this gonna be an exact copy of the show here in Tokyo coming to Orlando?
If so, Will they the 2 Flame cannons that Tokyo Has? Or it will be a OUAT Orlando version? Ala Fantasmic.

Good points. I actually like Celebrate the Magic more than Wishes. I hope the new show has some original music instead of being just a clip show - I think that's one of Celebrate's selling points. (And Wishes, for that matter.) My main complaint about Dreams at DLP was that it's a bit too much of just movie clips with no original story/music.

I would imagine this is going to be a cut down version with no pyro (except the finale as normal), flames, lasers or any other special effect that they don't currently have at their disposal.

I have to agree that I think the real charm of CTM are what some refer to as projection mapping "architectural gimmicks". I've watched the full Tokyo video and it has some of that in it, but at times it just seems to turn the castle into a giant "drive in movie" screen. It appears to really be just a series of film clips with no obvious story (although if I could understand the Japanese text being spoken, there might be). The only truly "new" music I noticed was the Disney-schlock ballad that opened and closed the show. Don't get me wrong, it looks like a pretty cool show,and I'll certainly go out of my way to see it, but without the pyro and lasers I think it will just be "different" and not necessarily "better".

Disney Dreams Come True's soundtrack was also a "shipment from Tokyo". Didn't stop it from being a horrible parade.
