Old Key West, Saratoga Springs or PO?

Hi Guys.

After 2 long interminable years since the last visit, I'm possibly making a trip to the World in September. I can't wait! I was going to book Port Orleans Riverside or French Quarter for 14 days, but looking at the prices available it's not that much more costly to book either Old Key West or Saratoga Springs. I've been to POR before and did enjoy it a lot. My question is, is it worth paying a little extra for a studio at one of the other 2 resorts? It's just myself and my girlfriend on the trip.

Obviously, most of our time will be spent at the parks, but we love the immersive atmosphere of the resorts and a bit of relaxtion by the pool. I'd appreciate any of your thoughts on this difficult but happy decision. :)

Thanks a lot for your help.

Well, if you would have the time to fully immerse yourselves on the resort & studios, and the elegant charm is for you, Saratoga Springs is great for that. I been there once, and it is a spectacular resort around the lines of the Grand Floridian. It has a large pool, quick service area, a restaurant, and walking distance to Downtown Disney.

I do agree with POR, though, based on opinion. A quiet pool resides over there, by Ol' Man Island...

I myself am planning on trying every resort at least once. So if you have already been to POR why not try either KW or SSR. I have been to SSR already and enjoyed myself!

I would go to POR because the restaurant is very awesome and the resort is very laid back. You would have a fun time if you went there. Have a good time.

POR has the most immersive atmosphere. If it's just 2 of you, you can request a king sized bed.

SSR is closest to DTD. If you're able to stay in the Congress Park section, you'd be about 5 mins away from the main bldg & pool (while also being right next to a quiet pool) and less than a 10 minute brisk walk away from the DTD marketplace. This will give you more dining and shopping options without having to rely on boats or buses (or your own car if you'll have one). I think all studios have a queen sized bed & sleeper sofa (though some may have 2 queen beds).

OKW will give you the largest rooms and most secluded resort, despite its size. However, unless thing hhaave changed, I believe all rooms have 2 queen beds, which isn't as romantic for 2 as a single queen & sofa or a king bed. Wasted space. Also, I believe your options for quick service meals will be the most limited of the three resorts.

Oh, and in regards to eating at PO-R, I always preferred Boatwrights for breakfast as opposed to dinner, but they stopped serving breakfast since 02/09.

I think you should give Old Key West a shot. If your looking for a laid back atmosphere, its the best disney has to offer. Its so quiet and peaceful. All of the units have thier own private balcony and if you happen to golf by any chance, Lake Buena Vista golf course literally snakes through the resort. Its also one of the cleanest resorts imo.

POR is nice..i've stayed there a few times but there is no comparison between a moderate resort and a DVC resort.

We've never stayed in a studio at SSR, but did stay in a 1 bedroom last year and although it was very expensive (and unexpected!) it was still "worth it". The rooms are gorgeous! I'd stay there again in a heartbeat!

Thanks

Thanks everybody for your help. I've decided to give Saratoga Springs a try. Booked for September 10th. It feels great to have it to look forward to. Now we just have to try and get the ADR's that we want.

Can't wait to get there. :)
