OK, a poll to help us figure who gets the PIN codes

So I read on this board and others that quite a few people have received pin codes in the last couple of months, so I'm going to post a poll to see if we can figure out what time of guest gets these. Please check all that apply.

I don't have one that fits. Mine is:

I have a disneyworld account, go to the parks once a year, but one time helped my father book a trip from my account, so somehow our accounts are linked and I get tantalizing (or is it taunting) email pincode offers to my email address all the time, and they don't apply to me, they only apply to him.

Here's my situation...looking back through my email I've gotten 8 PIN codes since late 2009, along with a few through snail mail.

I first went to WDW in 1995 at age 13 with my family...

Went again in May 2009 and November 2009 with my husband. Both of us signed up at disneyworld.com (can't remember what boxes we checked, but we receive those weekly emails that just talk about general Disney happenings). I also signed up to get planning DVDs.

We began to get PIN codes (like I said, I have gotten at least 8, my husband has gotten a few less I think), mostly through email (once or twice through snail mail) that could be used for 2010 trips...I think we got our first one right before the November trip. At that time we did not have any trips booked, so we could never use the PINs.

Now we have 2 trips booked - in February and June 2011 - and haven't gotten any PINs that we can use for them...the last code I got was in August (free dining). So they must have stopped sending them to us since we already booked. I'd love a room discount PIN though...

I don't get pin codes. We're shareholders, passholders, I have 2 Disney Visa's(1 is Day1), 1 Disney Debit card and back in the day, had the Disney Credit Card. We visit at least once a year with a total of probably over 90 lifetime visits, and have 2 upcoming trips (Nov 11-14 & Jan 22-25). We stay at all Value, Mod & Deluxe. I'm registered on Disneyworld.com, even had a go.com email account. I ordered the customized maps, order the DVD once or twice a year, do the phone survey, on site surveys, have taken the Vacation Club Tour.
Am I too much of an "given" to Disney? Maybe that's why I don't get pin codes?

I tend to get email pin codes for fall and winter every time we book a trip in May- stinks that we can never use them. Although my mom gets them all the time and she doesn't have a disney account and never books trips in her name (my dad does it). We have the same last name but different addresses, and her codes work for me every time- we've done this the past 3 trips. I use all my legit info (name, address, phone, email, etc) and her pin code, and I even admit what I'm doing to the reservation agent, and they still accept it. I don't know why it always works but I'm not complaining!

We've only ever gotten 1 and it was by regular mail. It was a tri-fold "letter" on cardstock. No envelope. Just opened it up and it had savings info and such printed up in full color.

It was addressed to Love. I used it for our Bay Lake Tower stay for our anniversary September 2009.

We're Florida Resident Seasonal Passholders and have been for years. Somehow, Love's email address finally gets the Passholder emails (though I don't know how since I tried signing up dozens of times with no luck) and we're in the parks at least monthly. We almost never stay over since we live so close.

I don't know why we got the one, random PIN code last year but I wish we'd get more.

That is awesome. I tried that early this year when booking my Dec trip (which is when I found out about that my account and my folks account are somehow linked). The reservations person told me that unless my father was coming on the trip, I couldn't use that pincode, even though it comes to my email address.

I have just started getting them....I have now gotten 2 in the last 60 days but have not been able to use either one. The first one was good but booking i had was cheaper and last one did not apply to our dates. I have been going for over 14 years (11 trips) stayed in all level resorts and always book over the phone direct with Disney. Always get DDP and MYW with hopper and water. Full blown package. No clue why they just started coming in my email??? But i hope they keep coming.

My husband gets pin codes quite frequently and we go several times a year also. We both have a disney world login and have signed up for everything I know possible.

Now, I invited my parents along one trip, and somehow my Dad's name ended up at the top of my reservation, so now at my email I get his last name for pin codes. He has never gone since. But if I want to use it, I call Disney and explain this to them, and they have let me use it after they come back on the line and talk with a supervisor. They can't seem to be able to fix it either.

Good luck to everyone on getting their pin codes.

I voted as one of my friends.

I have an AP, I am DVC, I am TIW, I have the Disney Visa, I go to WDW multiple times per year, we have also booked 3 Disney cruises in the last 6 years - I have never received a PIN Code.

In 2008 a bunch of us went to WDW. I booked the rooms with my AP discount, and with my email. I had my friends name on the reservation as well.

He and his wife go to WDW every few years or so, maybe every 3 or 4. They buy no expiration park hoppers and save them (if that means anything). I get codes in his and her name sent to my email on a regular basis. As in Feburary, June, and October of this year alone.

Sounds like my family. We have an AP, TIWL and Disney Visa, say on property about 14 nights per year and the only PIN codes we get are addressed to our friends that we have brought with us. I guess the mouse knows we are coming back and figures what's the point in sending us PIN codes.

None of those fit us.

I have a Disneyworld website account, but I also am a DVC member, I have accounts with the movie rewards, we have 2 disney reward visas, we go at least 1 time a yr, but I think that DVC members are not offered passcodes. If you have used the value resorts those are the ones that get them.

I used to stay at a non-Disney time share for years, but was signed up for all things Disney. I never once got a pin code. Then I booked a trip at the Polynesian in 2008, and I have since gotten many pin codes, sometimes I get 2 of the same deal to the same email, but different pin numbers (weird). I have always been signed up with Disney.com, have had the Disney Visa card forever, am a Disney movie club member, etc....but never got a pin code until I went to Disney at their resort. I am not a DVC member.

Now, I book a trip yearly with pin codes - and I continue to get them. So my theory is that if they notice you're using your pin codes, they send you more. But I'm certain that theory can be disputed by folks here.

When I called to change my reservation a few months back, the CM told me that I had two pin codes (both for free dining, she said) in my name. I have never gotten anything via email or snail mail. I guess I need to call and ask every once in awhile. Oh, I stay at POP when I go so I don't think that matters.

We go every year during Thanksgiving week, which is always a black out week for most deals. My wife always gets the pin code that works for us for that week. I have always been the one that has booked our trips,so I'm not sure what the rhyme or reason is but it works for us so I can't complain. The only thing that I can figure is that it is always the other person(adult) that is listed on the reservation that they are focused on.We get several pin codes through the year and it is always addressed to my wife, who knows!!!!

VERY helpful durangojim, thanks for doing this! I created a thread yesterday inquiring about the elusive PIN codes everyone has been getting lately. As for your poll, I checked a few that applied. I haven't been to WDW since March 2009, but did book my March 2011 trip back in March 2010 and put a deposit on my room at that time. I created a profile on WDW's site back around 2005, before our first WDW vacation. Wasn't until after our first trip that I started receiving random PIN codes either with my newsletters or separately. Have only received ONE snail mail PIN code and the funny thing was, it was in my mother in laws name (who is not registered or signed up on ANY Disney sites)! She came with us the first three trips and had a room booked in her name, but I did all the booking and that for her. Weird!
