Ohana or Kona

I love Kona. The bread is incredible. The main courses are incredible. The desserts are unbelievable. I feel like I'm in heaven the entire time. It's inexpensive, the service is great, and it's not crowded to the max the way 'Ohana is.

The fact that I don't like any of the food on the 'Ohana menu may help influence my opinion, but I just adore everything about Kona.

I have been to both and I prefer Kona. Kona has great food, a great atmosphere and is not as loud and crazy as Ohana. Plus Stitch grades on my nerves as well as congo lines with loud kids:zipit:. I like quite and relaxing dinners.

Despite the fact that they are physically so close to each other, they're really very different restaurants.

In Kona you can actually choose an appetizer/entree/dessert (there is a large variety, all with a Polynesian-esque twist) while in Ohana you're limited to the food they serve you family style. If you nothing that's offered appeals to you, you won't be happy. But that being said, a lot of what they serve at Ohana is really tasty (their bread pudding is so AMAZING we got the recipe and make it at home, same with their salad dressing and potatoes).

I've found that Ohana rushes you out a bit: from the second you sit down, they start bringing you food and don't really change according to your pace. If you're heading back to say Magic Kingdom, this might appeal to you. But if you're looking to sit back and relax, Kona is much less hectic and a bit quieter. (Unless you have kids that will participate, the dancing line in Ohana that weaves between the tables can get very annoying.)

For an upcoming trip, we have reservations at both places.

hope that helps :)

I've done both - I prefer Kona. I love Ohana, but it's a lot more food and my DH & I are light eaters. We spend less money at Kona also, and like the laid back environment of it. I've tried several things on the menu & always liked what I got. Plus, they've given us surprise celebration desserts twice - neither time did we expect anything. So I feel like they have great customer service. :o

That being said - if you're ready for a big meal, Ohana is delicious. :)

We have eaten at Ohana and loved it. The bread, salad, and bread pudding are amazing. Funny, when we were there last month Ohana was not loud and noisy at all. It was very laid back. The man only came out once in the 1.5 hrs. we were there to entertain the kids and it was very low key. My kids didn't even notice there were activities going on.

Similar to my experience as well, but I was there for nearly 2 hours. They came out twice (the man, thankfully the lady wasn't there). The first time was the hula, the 2nd the coconut races.

They weren't rushing us at all. In fact, if it hadn't been miserable and pouring rain out, we would have stayed to watch Wishes (in about 20 minutes) as we had an excellent table with a full view of MK.

We would love to try Kona on our next visit. How late do they serve their breakfast menu items? I've heard so much about them that we have to try it!

Kona all the way unless you like to be around lots of kids running around while you are trying to eat.Ohana used to be my favorite place to eat .But the last three trips the meat has been cold of burnt. If you are in a party of four or less they will forget about you.The food will come very slowly and forget about a drink refill.Sorry to see this happening to Ohana used to be a nice place in its day.I have been eating there since the early 70s when it was the tangarea terrace.
