Part of my job involves working with urine, feces, blood, brain, etc. so I think that would help me maintain calm in the face of an army of decaying corpses which is really the key if you're going to whack them with a baseball bat and the like.

So you're a Carnival Cruise employee?

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/carnival-dream-cruise-ship-problems-140636335.html

Not again.

A month after Carnival cruise ship Triumph limped to port in Mobile, Ala., another one of the cruise line's ships is reporting equipment problems.
Multiple passengers aboard the Carnival Dream, currently docked in port in Philipsburg, St. Maarten, contacted news outlets complaining of power outages, overflowing toilets and limited communication from cruise officials.

"There's human waste all over the floor in some of the bathrooms," Gregg Stark told CNN late Wednesday. "The elevators have not been working. They've been turning them on and off, on and off."

A U.S. Coast Guard spokeswoman in Miami said on Thursday that Carnival Dream's captain "notified the agency of possible trouble with the ship's propulsion system," according to the Associated Press.

The Dream, which has a capacity of 3,646 passengers and 1,367 crew members, left Port Canaveral in Florida on Saturday.

In February, an engine fire crippled the Triumph, turning what was supposed to be a four-day cruise into an eight-day debacle and public relations nightmare for Carnival. CNN covered the story of the ship, which floated for five days in the Gulf of Mexico without power or working toilets, as an epic breaking news event, taking live calls from stranded passengers and referring to the ship to as a "floating petri dish." The Triumph had more than 4,200 people on board (including crew and passengers).

Carnival Corp. was subsequently hit by a class action lawsuit "for stranding more than 3,000 passengers for five days on a ship without electricity or adequate sanitation."

All the cruise problems...I'll never work up the nerve to take one!

All the drains in the house are making "glub, glub, glub" sounds (with bubbles in the toilet, for entertainment purposes!) whenever something else near it drains. Plumber is coming tomorrow.

Rather deal with zombies.

Not a cruiser at all for a lot of reasons *coughTitaniccough*

We came home from 6 weeks away and within a 3 days the main pipe from the bathroom to the sewer lines decided to spring a leak. Unfortunately the ground is too frozen to dig it up, so we're patched for now. I hate winter.

I used to love cruises - I don't think I would be able to book one anymore.

Did you head about the eccentric billionaire that is recreating the Titanic - and stocking the state rooms with period authentic clothing based on the room they book - with hopes to have it's maiden voyage in a few years. He plans one minor tweak from the original ship - remedying the lifeboat issue.

I think the events of the past few weeks have pretty much sealed the deal for me to never go on a Carnival cruise, and after reading some of Dave's grandmother's writings, I really don't think I could set foot on a Titanic replica.

Oh, they built the ship Titanic to sail the ocean blue...

Love that song. :)

I don't think I'll ever cruise. Certainly not Carnival!

speaking of which some guy is building Titanic 2
who wants to go on a cruise

This year marks the 101st anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. The “unsinkable” ship now rests at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean and all of its grandeur is flooded and covered in slimy algae, left to rot there for another century. But now one man is willing to resurrect the splendor of the Titanic, reincarnated as a new ship called the Titanic II. The Titanic II is scheduled to set sail in 2016, and while it has yet to be built, blueprints of the ship were released this week. Check out photos of the Titanic II in the slideshow below. The Titanic II is being built by Australian mining billionaire Clive Palmer under his companyThe Blue Star Line.Mashable reportsthat in 2016, the Titantic II will make the route from Southampton, England to New York, with 2,600 passengers and 900 crew members crew members on board. The ship will be a nearly-exact replica of the original Titanic, expect unlike the original, it will have enough life boats for all those it carries.
Passengers will be given 1920s period costumes to wear, and sticking with that theme, the ship may be sparse on other modern amenities, such as Internet and TV, said Palmer.
“The area [for] passengers will be authentic with the same design and facilities, but there will be modern things such as air conditioning and other features we are debating, such as Internet on the ship,” Palmer said at the press conference. “I’m against it. I think you should relax on vacation. There won’t be TVs in the state rooms though.”
Ticket prices have yet to be announced, but Palmer said he has an offer for $1 million thus far, reports Mashable.
Personally, I think that the Titanic is cursed, and I wouldn’t want to chance it on the Titanic II. Then again, I still am waiting for my Jack Dawson.
