Going back to the damage in the northeast...Alabama Power sent 600 trucks and men to help with the power outages. They were not charging the local utilities, but doing it out of compassion and the workers were being paid by Alabama Power Company.

The a utility company in New Jersey refused to let them help because they were not part of the local union. At least New York welcomed their help.

That is what is wrong with this country, not the Democrats and not the Republicans...it's the unions.

I heard about that too. As someone who didn't have power and was waiting for our local utility to get around to fixing it, I was so happy to know there were additional workers from out of state to help speed up the process. Incidentally, a tree trimming company with Alabama plates cut down my neighbor's tree that fell on the power lines and cut us off. I thought of you when I saw the license plates - I almost told my kids - "Look! Unkadug has sent us help!!"

They arrived here before the storm - they were staying at a hotel here in our town. When I saw them coming in I immediately thought of Doug too.

Yeah, that's it...of course not! He is green and even has a cookie. He's so cute that I could shoot him in his little zombie forehead right now.

I actually have to WORK today at work (*shudder*) since I missed so much time and took off Friday to pack/etc. but I HAD to check in and remind myself what the forums look like when they are full size, as opposed to a tiny little screen.

Yesterday a friend asked me how we were holding up without power and I replied, "we're like the Ingalls family without the prairie" and in my head I added, "or the rabies". :D
