Oh, those poor Ingalls girls...

We were bracing for a direct hit from Irene this time last year. The anxiety of not knowing what to expect, coupled with not being able to do anything about it, was maddening. I'll be thinking of you guys and hoping everything works out OK. Stay safe!!!

I was thinking today was the day! It will be nice for her to have a change of scenery. And a nice break for you as well! Hope this works out OK.

Yeah, today they'll be driving all day, so she'll probably sleep a lot, which means that tonight she'll be wired. I told my brother to e-mail me.

So, I'm sitting through one wave after another of wind and rain as the feeder bands from Hurricane Isaac continue past my house, I turn on the weather, and I see this...

Apparently, my hurricane supply list must now include an AR-15 rifle.

So it's Monday, and school starts a week from tomorrow, and we still don't know who my kids have for teachers. Our elementary school is being totally ridiculous this year. They are trying to avoid parents complaining about their assigned teachers. NEWSFLASH - people are STILL going to complain. Gone are the days of ripping open the report card on the last day of school on the bus ride home and comparing teachers with your friends. I'm not concerned about who the teachers are - I just want to be able to complete my school supply shopping - we get a generic list and then a teacher specific list which I OBVIOUSLY can't buy for if I DON'T KNOW THE TEACHER!!

Didn't you hear - they're letting you pick this year!

Now that would be lovely!!

I'm definitely looking forward to getting back to a routine. And to the 2nd day of school. I hate the 1st day of school. We're walkers, so I have to take the kids to school. But there are parents who put their kids on the bus and then drive to school and take photos of them coming off the bus and it makes the bus circle an absolute madhouse and leaves me nowhere to park my car! We typically drive in the morning because I go straight to work and would be late if I had to walk home to get my car.

Yeah - we were in the same situation here when the kids were in elementary school. For jr. high I actually drove them to the bus stop because the easiest way for them to walk was through a creepy wooded path - quite possibly full of zombies.

I find it comical they are called "walkers". Like I'm really going to send my 6 and 8 year old off walking to school alone. They should call it "parent drivers". Or "pays same in school taxes but happens to live close to the school so doesn't get a bus-ers". Anything but walker! :p

At our school, walkers had to wait an extra 10 - 15 minutes for dismissal too. My son thought that was his punishment for being born into our family.

Same here! Bus dismissal is 3:00 but walkers are dismissed at 3:15! I guess it's a universal logistical thing.
