The Poly is decades of memories for us. The first time we stayed at the Poly, I just fell in love with it. My son practically grew up there. But, like you Hatter, we visit other resorts too during our trip. I had never been to WL until last October, when I HAD to check it out, after hearing my wdwmagic sista @Pooh Lover rave about it. Plus, its going to be a new set of memories. My son and I loved it. You can always visit PORS during your next trip, but I'm guessing you'll fall in love with WL too :)

I'm still looking for my "home resort" so to speak because I've only been to All-Star Sports and Pop Century. But as of now, Pop Century is my home resort and I love it the most. Why? It's large but it's not everyday you can see larger than life aesthetics of cultural icons of past decades. I mean, as we get older, we often yearn for good ole days of the past. Of course, a lot of us go to WDW for that reason alone. But Pop Century allows you to go back in time in a way and all the memories come back of your youth whether when you see the giant Rubik's cube, the Big Wheel or the jukebox. Being from the 90s, I recognize the icons they have and it brings back times when I roller bladed as a kid and used those floppy disks I used to save everything on the computers. Other than that, having your own bus and not having to share with the All-Stars resorts is nice, too!

As much as I love the Contemporary, I can't say it feels like home...just a place with a lot of memories from childhood. This is probably why I'm excited to try AKL this trip ... maybe that will feel like home. I probably would have gone with Boardwalk for this trip since the common areas really remind me of shore spots back from when I was a kid, but I want to save that for a potential F&W trip in 2014. Who knows...maybe we'll find home at some point. ;)

I know exactly what you mean. Resort visits are always a good thing though :) PORS is a gorgeous resort, but last year we visited WL and felt very welcomed :) Walked around the grounds, ate lunch at Roaring Forks then to the Trout Pass Bar for a cocktail, it was awesome!!!

Sounds good! :D Will definitely need to stay on top of my "training." I know F&W 2014 is over a year away...but you can never start too early. ;) In fact, we'll be hitting Bourbon Street in about 2 weeks to begin the next round of training. :)
Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll definately scope out the food and drinks for you in November!! Girl, I am already looking at dates for 2014!!! LOL

Wilderness Lodge for me. Pulling up to the front, the log exterior and landscaping transported me far away. Then, we walked into the lobby and WOW. No words do it justice. Plus, the little creek in the lobby that flows out to the waterfall. The waterfall into the pool. The wonderful rooms. The quiet areas with fireplaces to just sit in front of and enjoy. The wooden walkway to the shuttle boats. Watching the Electric Water Parade. <sigh>

PORS is a close second. Walking the pathway around the resort. Passing the water wheel. The quiet peacefulness of the resort, particularly in the Alligator Bayou section. The stately mansions with the flowers and fountains. The wonderful boat to DTD that passes the golf course and goes through the woods.

Ahhh, I wish I were there right now.

 Whit!!!... Canal...You mean the Sassagoula river..Indian name for Mississippi...This flowing majestic water that runs from PORS all the way down to Downtown Disney..And you call it a Canal..LOL...We have a canal in Glasgow called the Clyde..It's a dirty brown colour that has everything from beer bottles to used diapers floating in it..Yuch! :(
The actuall river name in Mississippi is the Pascagoula River. I guess Disney didn't want any copyright issues?
