Amazing stuff Barnum. How lond did you leave your shutter open for?
I honestly can't remember. I did a few experimental shots just hand holding to get an idea of whether the camera could cope if I left it to it's own devices or semi automatic before I planted it down firmly. I had it lined up and heard the monorail, so I thought, lets wait a few more seconds and see what happens when it gets into the viewfinder :D

Guess I'll go with this one this week. Taken from TTC.

I just can't picture that being taken from TTC. The track really curves that much? I always picture the track going straight from TTC into the Contemporary. I didn't realize there was that much of a bend. I'll have to take a better look next time.

LOL - this is the only picture I could find with a darn monorail in it. Guess I need to take more!

(Edited to substitute less grainy version of the photo)
Your pictures always relate Disney magic no matter what the topic - I love them... Congrats on being able to catch the magic so easily on film! Great Pic - (and I loved the one you submitted for the Valentine's Day contest!)

Yeah, the turn is so gradual you don't really notice it when your riding because of the distance. Here is a link to some satellite images of the area that are probably the best way to see it.

It's actually really straight until it hits the area of the water bridge and then starts turning left to enter the Contemporary.

Any good monorail contest has to have photos of the monorail going into or through the Contemporary - CHECK!

But the contest is not complete without a photo of the monorail coming around Spaceship Earth. This thread is on page 3 already without that iconic imagery?

That's so weird. So you used a good zoom lens to get that shot or something? This is so perplexing to me! Even on the sattelite image it doesn't appear to have THAT much of a curve. And from the sattelite image it doesn't seem like the Contemporary is at such an angle from the TTC. Where at TTC did you take the shot? Right from the monorail station?

I was standing all the way at the front of the station in the frontmost loading bay for the Express beam, to the right of the booth.

I think it's just an odd visual perspective based on where I was standing relative to the straight stretch of the beam and the focal point being after the curve. What you see in the foreground is the resort beam after it splits out to enter the station. The combination of that, and the zoom to the Contemporary is creating a strange distortion. It might make more sense if you look at this one. I just turned a few degrees to the right for this but it might help the other one make more sense.

I love it! Where did you take that from? Poly?

Laura, I actually got my shot from the ferry going from TTC to MK.

MKCP, I almost posted a pic of monorail going thru Epcot during Flower & Garden Fest, with a part of SSE in background, but I thought my Contemporary pic was better.:)
