Yes, Mystic Manor looks very, very cool. But is anyone else disappointed that's it's not closer to the original style of Haunted Mansion? I was excited for another variation along the lines of Phantom Manor.

Yes and no. Adventureland is my favorite land, and that's where HKDL's Mansion was originally supposed to be, so I was really pumped to see an Adventure themed HM.

However, I really love the MM concept, and think it's incredibly original.

We'll have to see about their Adventurers Club. I think it's probable that it will be Adventurers Club in name and pilfered props only.

No doubt in my mind. That's exactly what it'll be.

That's exactly what I was looking forward to, that would have been an awesome spin on The Haunted Mansion.

The problem is, from a merchandising standpoint, it's probably the best.

I've made some updates to the front page.

In the last link,a sign hangs from the ceiling that says"Fantasy"in the FL font.:sohappy:

Before you say"It would already be represented" it would not be because it would give it away if Jay was going to announce it.:animwink:

I went back to see the Mystic Manor model again today and one of the imagineers (20 plus years) working on the project walked us through the story using the storyboards. You are visiting the estate/mansion of the guy (sorry..don't remember the name) who has a huge collection of items from around the world. He allows people to visit his mansion and even has these electrified vehicles for people to ride around in. I asked the imagineer and he confirmed they use the Pooh technology from Tokyo, except they have made some improvements. Apparently in Tokyo they have a whole grid of wires across the floor, but now they can do it with a single wire. You board your vehicles and they depart in groups of fours. The owner has this pet monkey which you meet earlier in the preshow. I believe he said it was an animatronic. You are here on a special day because the owner just got this new chest. The monkey winds up opening the chest which unleashes the magic. The vehicles then travel in single file through the rooms of the mansion where all the artifacts come to life (sounds like Night in a Museum). For example, the picture of a volcano has it exploding and all the people in the painting running away from it. In the armory room, you almost get shot at it...etc...You start moving from room to room faster and faster (in typical disney fashion), till you get to the last room where all the vehicles are back in groups of four again. The room is spinning around and you are spinning around with it, sort of like a tornado when finally the money closes the chest again and all is back to normal. It appears you are back in the original trophy room, but when you look at the model, its actually a different room that looks the same. I have to say, this is a first rate attraction that any of the parks would love to have. You know, hearing the imagineer talk about the attraction, you can see that when story is the key to an attraction, you get the what Disney is supposed to be all about.

So they're lifting much of the story from Tokyo's Tower of Terror, so it's not quite original

I don't think that's leading into a Fantasyland announcement at all. They were categorizing the displays into different categories.

I think you're reading too much into the sign. There's also one that says Tomorrow in the Tomorrowland font.

On a quick side note..

Mystic Manor and the HKDL expansion looks great.

I just wish they left room to expand within the circumfrence on the railroad tracks! I don't know why, I just don't like it.

Yeah, Mystic Manor sounds great.

Now...that so called "Club" next door....THAT I've got issues with.:fork:
The building for the club looks nice. I'd love to see some inside concept art. Will be heartbreaking to see though.

Gotta disagree. I like the idea of a unique HM for each park similar to how each has a unique design of castle. I really would rather see MM added to WDW. And since it really is not a HM clone, who knows. Maybe it might someday.

I've said this since it was first announced, Mystic Manor would work as a clone in WDW. It would work perfectly in a Mysterious Island type setting in DAK. The explorer/adventurer theme is perfect for that park. Add along an Adventurers Club restaurant and I would be very happy. You could even have the adventurer here be Merriweather Pleasure, so you have 3 adventurers around the world who are "friendly adversaries" to quote the Imagineer at D23: Hightower, Mystic, and Pleasure.

We finally agree JT.

Hmmm... I do like that idea.
