Apparently, everyone is being forced to turn in phones, cameras, etc., before the Iger / Legends sessions.

Let's hope someone is really sneaky, or it's going to be a long couple a hours for the first reports.

Ditto.. its just the pessimist in me.

If we get awesome news.. then consider me awesomely suprised..lol  :D
It is not even being pessimistic at this point. To be accurate we are simply following historical trends. Think about every press conference ever done by Disney in the last 5 years. When have the ever pleasantly surprised us? Hopefully D23 will be different but I am not holding my breath.

I think whatever Iger has in store for today's opening speech, I would like for him to start it by paying respects to the CMs who have passed away in unfortunate accidents this summer. I know it might cast a shadow initially but I think if he didn't mention it and at least hold a moment of silence it would be very unclassy.

Fixed...

I think whatever Iger has in store for today's opening speech, he had better start it by paying respects to the CMs who have passed away in unfortunate accidents this summer. I know it might cast a shadow initially but I think if he didn't mention it and at least hold a moment of silence it would be very unclassy.

I seriously doubt that will happen, I personally wouldn't expect it happen, nor would I feel it "unclassy" if didn't. Talk about a way to kill the buzz of D23's first expo atmosphere.

I also wouldn't be surprised if half or more of the people at the Expo had no idea events other than the monorail crash occurred, anway.

Stop beating the horse already.

I can't think of a way any CEO could handle such a topic at a zippy, upbeat fan convention and not have it totally ruin the mood, or get approved by the lawyers.

It will never happen, not at Disney or any other company with more than 25 employees or more than one lawyer on the payroll.

I guess you guys are right. Guess it's been covered in the media enough. Just seems like they could at least thank them for their efforts with TWDC and the "hearts go out to the families" spiel. I know they don't want to bring up the "bad publicity" of it but it just seems strange to me that they would just go on acting like it didn't happen and that those CM's just "magically" disappeared. I mean no disrespect to those who passed. If Disney doesn't want to, I, for one, at least am going to thank them for their work while they were at The World.

But in short, you're probably right, they won't want to bring it up at a convention like this and paint that image straight out of the gate.

Eegads. Why do people say things like "he had BETTER" do this or that.

The parks are just one part of the convention. The accidents are just
a small part of the parks. As mentioned, I'll bet most people there don't
even know about them. I'd guess they won't be mentioned. I'd guess.

Just the way I wanted to express MY feelings. Why can't people have gut feelings anymore? I'll change it to "I'd like for him to" if it pleases your eyes a little more. :)

I would think a vast majority of people who are paying this much money for the convention would know about at very least the monorail accident. But I dunno. :veryconfu

We'll be lucky if they mention WDW at D23 at all - much less something like this.

Thanks Conundrum.
I've updated the original post to include the highlights for the day as well as the linked thread. I'll do some more exploring in a couple of hours when I get out of work.
