Ok folks its Bartman time to answer a few more questions

First off the question. In the Original Star Tours which death star are we blowing up?

Official Answer: The same Death Star from A New Hope, good thing we were there to help Luke.

Unofficial Answer: Actually it was the little heard of 3rd Death Star. Apparently every time the Empire has a problem rather than sending in a bunch of stealth ships to sneak in and take care of the problem they make a giant ball which by the way always has one little unprotected area that nobody in the Empire can keep their mouth shut about since the Rebels always find out about it. You think the US is in debt just think about how much space cash they've blown on these Death Stars yeesh.

Ok folks its Bartman again time to play catch up and answer a few more of your disney questions. Lets go to Bulldog

1. Have their been plans to upgrade the monorail system to AK or other areas?

Official Answer: The Disney company is always looking to find new ways to improve your transportation from one magical destination to another.

Unoffficial Answer: Not going to happen. Building more monorail track would be expensive however doable, the real thing keeping this from happening is the monorail trains themselves. They are expensive to build but according to one of my friends in monorails they are even more expensive to keep running as many forum readers will know we have been having many issues just keeping the current fleet up and running recently.

So unfortunately for the time being the answer is no as Disney believes its cheaper to replace a bus than a monorail. In the long run though that would be a smart play to upgrade the monorail system, or do like the jetsons and have flying cars that are propelled by small white circles.

And just to wrap up another question you had, No unfortunately front seat driving in the monorail is still not going to happen and I would guess it would be a long time before that changes aka LAWYERS.

Ok it looks like I am almost all caught up, keep sending those questions in folks so we can stay on the first page

Hi folks Bartman here again back to answer another question, this one is from Bulldog

Has the bus system become more efficient since 2008?

Official Answer: Walt Disney World does its best to ensure that every guest on property has a quick and magical trip to whatever their destination inside of Disney World is

Unofficial Answer: Eh generally speaking I am going to say NO. While there are times that the busses will seem to be picking people up quite rapidly there have been many issues where this hasn't been the case.

Bus driving isn't the most requested place for cast members to work and it also cant be filled by just anyone. On top of that I used to work at certain attractions for 15-16 hours at a time (My record was 17.5 in a row at The Great Movie Ride one time during Christmas) Disney is allowed to do this in attractions and just pay the proper OT or Double Time rate, due to Florida Law this cant be done in the bus system.

Also their is one thing that takes place around 2:30-3:30pm in most Operational areas and its the shift change. Rather than schedule a small amount of overlap to cover for this Disney refuses to do so and depending on the level of requests this can bring things to a standstill in transportation and attractions. (Basically if the ride your on goes down around 2:30 pm and its more than just a minor reset issue you arent going anywhere for a while.) Also late at night the amount of Downtown Disney busses is cut back mainly due to the fact that their is not much to do after midnight.

All this being said some bus drivers who work at Disney are great people, nicest cast members I have ever met, others were kidnapped from a school bus. So in the end the bus schedule fluctuates and I would say in general it works best a little bit after the park opens until about an hour before they close, excluding the change over time I mentioned early.

Whew that was quite a bit, anyway keep those questions coming folks.

Hi folks Bartman back and I believe I have been stumped by hornsofasteer but I will try to figure it out as best I can here's the question

How do they evacuate people on Peter Pan

Official Answer: Our highly trained cast members fly to your ship and sprinkle some pixie dust on you so you can fly out of the attraction, just remember think happy thoughts like how your not stuck at UniversaL

Unofficial Answer: Now I am not 100 percent on this but I believe they have a ladder they can bring up in order to bring you down to the ground of the attraction and then escort you out. However that being said its kind of like evacuating the monorails they can do it but THEY REALLY DONT WANT TO DO IT. One time I had to be evacuated while on Space Mountain and I had two Reedy Creek firemen standing next to me worried I would fall to my doom walking from my rocket over to a catwalk no more than 6 inches away from me. Personally my favorite attraction to evacuate is Voyage of the Little Mermaid at Hollywood Studios, my first evacaution there went something like this "Okay folks Ursula is on fire and this show has gone from under the sea to Hot in Hollywood, please exit to your left and dont forget Stop Drop and Roll" (partially true story)

Thanks! That is really funny btw.

I have been trying to figure that one out for years now. Ive been looking for stratiegically placed flat scenery, like a cloud or the Indian Chief platform. What you said seems rather logical. :)

Do they have a recording of people screaming playing when the logs on Splash Mountain go down the drop. I doubt all logs have people screaming on them but I don't remember seeing a log go down without hearing people scream.

Hi folks nice to see this thread is going strong so time for me to answer yet another one of your questions. This one is for WDWFanatic

Is there a number for total occupancy before they stop letting more people into the park:

Official Answer: We at Disney are always watching the occupancy of our parks to insure all guests have a magical stay here at Walt Disney World

Unofficial Answer: There actually isnt a set number for the occupancy in the parks. All of the parks run through phase closings where at first they stop selling tickets for the day, then they stop letting in people who werent in the park earlier in the day, until finally they stop admitting people completely.

The maximum occupancy issue is really only a problem at MK. During Christmas week and New Year's eve is the worse, MK will definitely close down completely on New Year's eve at some point, Epcot does as well. Your best bet when the parks reach this level is to head to the Studios, in all my years we have never had to do phase closings. There's lots of little spaces around there to breathe.

Speaking of New Year's eve there is one great tradition at Animal Kingdom where the Kiliminjaro Safari drivers go to the lion's den and put party hats on the lions heads and those little blower things in their mouths. I think there might be a couple videos on youtube, its a hoot.

Hi Bartman

1. Is there any truth in there being a Monsters Inc Coaster in DHS, and if so when is it expected to open?

2. Do they have any plans to re-open the castle for families to stay overnight?

Thanks

Ah the questions keep coming but dont worry I will keep answering them as best as I can, up next is Stitchaholic's questions (Stitchaholic thats something I will never be accussed of)

1. Is there any truth in there being a Monsters Inc coaster being built at DHS

2. Do you have any plans to reopen the castle for families to reserve?

Official Answer: At this time Disney World doesnt have plans to expand on Disney Hollywood Studios at this time.

Unofficial Answer: There have been some tentative plans to add on a Monsters Inc coaster but for now its kind of in a holding pattern as DHS deals with the new Star Tours attraction. A friend of mine in imagineering said at one time they were looking on using the roboarm coaster technology to pull off the swinging door effect but that might change due to Harry Potter currently using this technology at Universal.

Also it would require moving around some things backstage which would be a bit of an issue, not impossible but it could effect the backlot tour. At best I would say 2013 before we saw a Monsters Inc coaster.

Official Answer to Castle question: We reserve the Castle to surprise our guests with magical moments throughout the year.

Unofficial Answer: They will never ever ever make the castle available to reserve no matter the price. The main reason for this is that it would cause havoc with constant complaints of people wanting to be transferred to the castle or how they tried to book it 6 months ago and still couldnt get it. Positively speaking though Disney actually likes to reserve the room for Make A Wish kids as well as any big shot celebrities who stop by (Steve Carell was recently at the Contemporary after finishing up filming on The Office as well as Marty Sklar and some big shot Imagineers.)

So Disney wants to have the Castle available on a whim so they can do things quickly with the Castle, cause trust me if the Castle was available to book and a guest reserved the castle but then Johnny Depp shows up and wants the castle who do you think is going to get it?
