I am very sorry to do this, but I have looked and searched everywhere, I am getting very mixed reviews on what I am looking for...

I am trying to buy a new digital camera, and I just want to throw some models out there and if anyone knows anything about them, or owns them, if they didn't mind taking the time to help me out... I trust fellow Disney fanatics because they are generally happy, friendly, and personable people... so I feel I can trust the majority opinion that comes from here...

On sites suchas Amazon.com, Consumerreports.org, and just others... the cameras I am most interested in are getting mixed reviews.

Again, I apologize, this is not what this forum is meant for, I just was looking for some help... I mean, the use of my camera is going to be for my Disney Trip in August!

Here are the models I was wondering about;

Cannon SD110, Cannon SD200, Cannon SD300

Kodak CX7430

I liked Cannon most, but... I've heard the SD200 and SD300s have had LCD problems? Cannon SD110 only has 2x optical... and Kodak I am afraid won't have the picture quality I want

Thanks a lot to anyone who can offer information!!!

Check out the camera section of the disscusion forums that will help alot more than just posting here, but for my 2cents the sd300 is probably your best bet, the lcd's are nice not the best out there but they'll get the job done, stay away from Kodak they are just weird ok pictures but still weird, and if you budget is an issue the canon a520 is a nice camera too, not as small but a bigger zoom. Have fun. Try the camera portion next time.

100th post, woohoo

I didn't even notice a camera section, thanks for the info though!!

Budget is not a huge issue so I really like the SD300

Thanks a lot... And I am sorry again for not posting in the right area, this is only my second day on WDWMagic as a poster!

Thanks!

Hi there, PhotoDave219, who is a member here as well, had recommended the Kodak one you listed as a good camera. I went for the one of the same line but one above it in terms of features & Stuff. My Model 3 Kodak DX7440 I think was discountinued but I think the next one in line closest to mine ( But with more megapixels) is this one

Welcome aboard!

I love my Kodak Easyshare DX 6340 with printer dock, but like Belle's its discontinued.
When I went to look for a link I see that quite a few places still sell these.

Along with what Belle says, The Kodak's generally run like this...
Her camera is a 7440. The 7 indicates the series of year. Thus newer models of this camera will be reflected as 8440. The second number indicates the megapixels. In Belle's case, she has a 4 megapixel model. (or 4 point something). And finally, the last 2 numbers indicate the quality of the model. 7440s are generally a better model than say the 7430s yet not as good as the 7490. Just some info on the Kodak naming convensions... I worked with the Kodak line of cameras while working at Kodak a couple of years ago and purchased the 6440. I've had it for a couple years now and I love it. For a simple point and shoot camera, I can't complain. Hope this helps some... :D

I have personal experience on both Canons. They are great, but get the SD300 if you can. You will enjoy the camera for its size and durability as well as its features. Only downside is that Canon flashes aren't the greatest, but thats really the only negative I could come up with for a camera, that small, in that price range.

I have the 300 and love it.(4 megapixel model) Takes great pics. The size can't be beat. Great for carrying around the parks. I've had no problems w/the LCD. Easy to use as well. Did I mention the size...fits right in your pocket or look for the Cannon pouch that clips right on to your belt. Great little camera.

I was going to suggest asking Photodave too. Also try robafusto - webmaster of Disneypix.com

I`ve had 2 Canon`s and would get another no problem.

Thanks everyone!!! You have all been so very helpful and I am very glad everyone was so understanding with my misplacement of this post!!! Very kind of everyone to take time to help me out with an off-topic subject. I am leaning towards the Cannon SD300... I liked it the most, but I was worried about the LCD problem. However, every camera company and model will have unlucky consumers with problems, I just wanted to make sure it was not a huge problem. THANKS ALL!!!

I live and die by Canon. I love them. I convinced most of my friends to buy them as well. Look into the Canon Digital Rebel (300D), not the new XT but the original one. It's about $650 now and it's an amazing camera. Not so much point-n-shoot (although very capable), but more of a next step in photography. It's a great camera if you're looking to get a little more out of it. But you do have to have some knowledge of digital darkroom (photo editting on the computer) and some 35mm camera sense. But as for a point-n-shoot, may I suggest the Canon Powershot SD400 or the Canon Powershot G6. Both fine cameras that will last you for years and years.
