We are staying off property for the first time in forever. Haha. We have received our tickets and I just want to verify that we do not need magicbands, correct? The tickets are still RFID and can be scanned for fastpasses, right? The tickets show up on MDE.

If you have magic bands from previous stay-and tickets are linked in MDE-you can use those "old" magic bands. But yeah-the plastic cards will work. They will not capture ride photos though.
Don't old magicband have a internal battery that expires after so long. It will be almost 3 years since our last visit.

It probably won't work for automatic photos. The long range transmitter will probably be flat.

Short range for touching a touchpoint might still work though.

But yes, your plastic ticket acts the same as you would tap a magical shackle.

I don't hate the MB's like a lot do (sure money coulda been spent elsewhere!) And as much as I love the freedom of USO and non planning-it sure was a real PITA to have to wait to get ride photos added, or juggle photo key, room key, entry ticket etc.

I guess I am one of the few that finds that the cards are handier and have never had a single problem with them. Nothing missed, nothing gone and all I have to do is slip my hand in my pocket and pull out this thin unobtrusive little piece of plastic to use it. Yes, I know that sounds strenuous, but, I usually recover by the next day. :joyfull:

You're certainly not!

Tip; keep the card in the outer most interior slot of your wallet - it should activate the touch point without having to remove it from your wallet.

We are staying offsite more than onsite. The benefits of staying onsite are getting so insignificant that it is not worth it. There are only an extremely few advantages: 60-day FP, use of YOUR resort pool, and a Magicband. We offset this by staying offsite and getting APs. If there is an attraction we cannot get a FP at the 30-day mark, we hit that attraction at rope drop if we HAVE to do it. Stormalong Bay is arguably the best pool on property, but it is still not that great of a pool. Many offsite places have pools 10x better. Magicbands are a pain. Personally, I cannot stand anything on my wrist/arm. If my wife let me, I wouldn't wear my wedding ring.

Enjoy better than Disney accommodations at up to 80% off!!!

My son's band he wore is under 2 years old and stopped working for the long range. Short range will always work for FP+ scanning and the like, but the long range use like getting pictures from rides without selecting it at the end of the ride no longer works.

I personally hate the bands and got the new ones with the pucks just so I could put it on a keychain hanging from my small purse that holds my cell phone, and be done with it. So much easier. If I had pockets I would be like you but pockets on dresses aren't all that common and my pockets are usually too small to safely hold things - hence a tiny cellphone sized purse.

I could see where wearing your wedding ring on your wrist might be uncomfortable. :joyfull: Even more so on your arm.

I am not a watch wearer and also hate anything on my wrists. But I put the MB on and within a few minutes, I didn't even know it was there. I just kept it on until we were done with the parks and heading to the beach.

I liked that it was my room key, parking key, park pass, room charging all in one.

Thanks for all the comments. I figured not many would stay off site but I looks like there is a good number of people like to stay off site. That being said, What is your favorite off property resort/location?

I've stayed both on and off site and there are many advantages for each. In addition to the reasons you listed for staying onsite there are the intangibles like "being in the Disney Bubble" but also Extra Magic Hours and Disney Magical Express which saves a lot of people the expense of a rental car.
