Odd HM Question - Do Knocking Doors Really?

Riding HM yesterday and a weird question came up in my mind. I always just took for granted that the knockers on the hallway doors actually knocked and made the sound with the motion. But maybe the knockers just move and a knocking sound plays in unison with the motion. Anyone know for sure?

The things I think of.

 I often find myself thinking of odd qusetions as well, your not alone:wave:, but yes the sound that you hear is from speakers, not the doors themselves

If there was a Disney audition for HM Knockers to knock on a door all day...I'd do it..Why heck they can even be a union Local 1313 HM Door Knockers

It's a mix of both the actual knockers making noise and piped-in effects. It depends on the door.
The mace-like ball knockers are actually making the noise, and I think there's one or two traditional U-shaped knockers, too.

But there are other doors where the handles move that have a piped in effect, or the bulging door has an effect speaker behind it.

The most noticeable piped-in sound is the door that's actually an emergency exit, and thus doesn't have any physical props on it, it has a speaker above the door making banging noises.

You made me think now. I think they would more likely be sound effects, they porbebly woudnt be loud enough over music...Screams etc. :ROFLOL:

I'd say its a bit more eerie with the real and piped in sound working together. Its not perfectly sync'ed so you get an echo effect that makes it sound like more doors are knocking than there actually are.

QFT.

I know for a fact that the spiked knockers do in fact make their own noise. I've been on HM when it stopped for a good minute or so while I was in the doors scene and I sat there starring at one of those knockers the whole time. It definitely makes a loud noise when it hits the metal plate on the door.

Stupid question, but "QFT"?
