October 13 through 20

We go during the Columbus Day week every year.

Crowds: Moderate (better than summer crowds)

Weather: Perfect. Not too hot but can still swim and get a sun tan!!

Plus: MNSSHP is a must. Don't miss it!!!

We're hoping the school breaks will be over by then and even less crowded that over Columbus Day. We're definitely doing the MNSSHP on Tuesday, Oct. 16.

This Oct. trip will be four out of five years going in Oct. It has to be the best time to go there. Between the weather, less crowds, F&W, MNSSHP you really can't go wrong. I can't wait for Oct. 8. We are going to MNSSHP party on the 11th.

Anybody go during the same time last year?

How are the crowds?

How was the weather?
We are going in Sept., but we were originally going in Oct., so I researched this particular time.
I hear the Oct. is a great time to go.
The weather is not as hot & humid.
The crowds are lighter.
You can attend the MNSSHP!

We have ALWAYS gone in October (6 of the last 9 years). In fact, I'm sad that we won't be going at that time this year (we're going the week after Thanksgiving. We'll be at a wedding in Charleston, SC the weekend after Thanksgiving, so we'll just drive down, rather than making the long drive 2 months in a row!!) I LOVE Halloween at WDW. We've never done MNSSHP although I've heard it's great. The crowds are tolerable, the weather is beautiful (although last year it was in the 90s for 3 days, followed by the 60s for 2 days, a bit unpredictable), and in 2005, we were there for Hurricane Wilma (but that was a bit of an anomoly - hurricanes are rare for that area at that time of year. It was the first hurricane to hit Florida in October in nearly 40 years.)

If I could choose a time to go - it would definately be October. Have fun!

We love going in Oct. We went this past Oct, the second week, and when we were there we were talking to someone who said that they go the third week and the crowds were less then. We won't be there this year, but I am booking this week for next years trip. I can't wait!

We went on October 13th 2 1/2 years ago for my 30th birthday. It was a surprise gift from my husband. Actually, he had to tell me early, because we were supposed to go to the Disney resort in Vero Beach, but there was a huge hurricane that wiped out the resort and they had to close it. No complaints here though, because we went to WDW instead!

Anyway, it was a wonderful time of year to go. The weather was cool and the crowds weren't too bad. That was one of my favorite trips!

Meega, nala kwishta!
We've been going in October every year for years. And what everyone said above is right. Moderate crowds, good weather, and with Food and Wine and MNSSHP you got plenty a special things going on too.

I would add that the actual Columbus Day weekend can be quite crowded, and that's mostly at Magic Kingdom. We've even seen it filled to capasity on the Saturday of that weekend.

We tend to plan our vacations the week after Columbus day weekend to avoid that now, so you should be just fine.

Also, they tend to have shorter hours and less ride lines open, so you will still see 60+ min standbys on RnR, TT, Soarin and others from time to time. But that trend is changing a bit because the crowd counts have been climbing over the years for that time of the year and Disney is changing with them. :)

Have Fun!

With all this talk of our October trips, I think I might get our October role call going again. It's fun to see how many people on the forum goes in October and which MNSSHP they go to. Look for it later.

We did 15-23 in 2005. It was fantastic. It was very hot, but not too crowded. We made sure not to miss MNSSHP and I advise you not to miss it either. Also make sure to spend a little time at the Food & Wine Festival it's cool to try some food & drinks that you wouldn't normally see there. The only real downside is that the parks aren't open very late so make sure you get up and go in the morning or you could miss alot.
