Welcome to the board!

We are going in Oct too. From what I've seen the crowds are managable. Who knows what deal they might have at that time. I've not stayed at either of your hotel choices so I can't help you there. We are staying at the WL. We'll also be there for our anniversary. It will be our 13th.

Another October anniversary here!:D We'll be down at the World as well and though I haven't stayed at either the GF or Contemporary, I've always liked the latter. The refurbishment on the rooms looks fantastic (one day we'll stay here )

We'll be there the second week of October at POFQ!

As far as weather/crowds - we got there the day before Columbus Day last year (12th I think) - crowds were very heavy on 12/13th, then I'd say moderate the following 3 days. Weather was great - easily warm enough to make going to the pool a good idea, but not so hot that a full day at the parks was daunting. :)

OMG October is my absolute favorite time to go! the weather is a bit more tolerable than september. also, the food & wine festival is going on at EPCOT. in addition to that, you have the Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween party going on at the Magic Kingdom. you can get alot accomplished in one day at the parks during october. i think you will find it is a great time to go!

Another October fan here!!! Agree with all of the above: crowds manageable, weather manageable, Food & Wine Fest, Halloween Party...All Good!!!

On your resort choices: have not stayed at either, but dined at both. I'm sure GF has many good qualities but the general air of snootiness was a bit much. We are common folk (not complete hooligans...just down to earth :goodnevil). Contemporary, on the other hand, seemed much more friendly and relaxed. Tower/MK view would be great if you can afford it (ooh I've priced it and can only dream) but upon taking a boat to WL, I saw some rooms in the Garden Wing (I think it's called) that are right on the lake and appeared to to have great views.

I hope to be there in October too! We might rent points for OKW this time.

Let me jump on the bandwagon as well, both in loving October visits and with October anniversaries.

If you haven't made your reservations yet, consider using Kingdom Konsultants. No extra cost for you and they will monitor changing offers, so will be right there to get you any special offer including a possible extension of 4+3 if that goes to October. When you do make your reservations, be sure to mention that it is for an anniversary trip! (and reaffirm that at check-in). Also make mention when you are making restaurant reservations.

As others have said, weather is usually great, there is a little bump in attendance over Columbus weekend, but otherwise, you get to enjoy Food and Wine at Epcot and MNSSHP in MK.

You can't go wrong with either Contemporary or GF...you will get varied responses here as most of us have our favorites. If you spend a lot of time at MK....you can walk from Contemporary. Either gives monorail access to MK and Epcot. If you spend more time in Epcot, consider Yacht/Beach.

Now for meals...if you want a VERY special anniversary meal, consider Victoria and Alberts. Some other places for a special meal would include California Grill, Artist Point, Narcoossee's, Jiko, Flying Fish, Yachtsman's Steakhouse. If you're not that familiar, reviews and menu's are available elsewhere on this site. Also, if you book through KK, they can do your dining arrangements.

Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

We are going this Oct too and we will be celebrating our 20th anniversary. I agree with what everyone has said, it's a great time to go.

Something that I am going to do, to "Celebrate", is to order a special anniversary cake to be sent to our table at dinner one night. I have seen some pictures and they look wonderful! I am going to have "20 Years of Magic" put on it. They can do anything that you want, they even have mini wedding cakes. Just an idea for ya! :)

Ordered the cake last year for Mom and Dad's 40th Wedding Anniversary. It was served at one of our dinners in MK. It was an absolute hit!!! Beautifully decorated and delicious! :D

I am getting excited about it. I know that they are a little pricey but it will be worth it. Our kids will be there too so I think that they will have a blast with it. Anything special is even more magical at Disney.

What cake did you get, and do you have a picture?

This is going to be harder than I thought! We always said we would love to stay at AKL and all the reviews I read are great but now I am torn about there or the Contempoary simply b/c it is close to MK!! Any thoughts would be helpful!!! :brick:

What are you going to do for transportation? If you will have a car, AKL won't be an issue, but if you are using Disney transportation, the convenience of Contemporary can't be understated.

Bottom line is you won't be spending a ton of time in your room (I hope) so any of your choices should be enjoyable.

The only October anniversary we have is the anniversary of out annual trip to WDW, reason enough to celebrate. October is my favorite time to go too, I love love love the MNSSHP!

I vote Comtemporary, never stayed at GF but it never has appealed to me. I really love the POLY and the cabins at FW but those were not in the choices! Have fun! I am trying to eek out a trip then too, I think I can pull it off with a little help from some OT at work and maybe a good room offer from the mouse. Well see!
